  1. I entirely agree with Indysolo's response to Vosk's post. Sounds like someone pee'd in Vosk's cornflakes this morning. I care what Joe says in his posts (and I enjoy what all members say - even if I don't always agree). I also like Yub Nub!
  2. Couldn't have said it better than Steef did!
  3. That was very good; just reinforces how much music changes the mood of a scene/sequence in a film. That version would have worked for me in 1983 - we weren't expecting the prequels then, and that music would have ended the original trilogy very nicely indeed.
  4. The chick that was painted gold in "Goldfinger"as really hot too.. What a waste!
  5. So many busty babes to choose from... The first Bond film that I saw in a cinema was The Spy Who Loved Me; both Barbara Bach and Caroline Munro made a big impression on the pre-pubescent young lad that I then was. Love Honor Blackman, Maude Adams and Sophie Marceau.
  6. Of the 2 films, I much prefer The Towering Inferno. It is a cheesy, star-laiden, ponderous hollywood spectacle, but it does have its moments. I've always liked the main theme and end titles, and other parts of JW's score. I see no reason to re-make The Poseidon Adventure, and I have no desire to see Poseidon.
  7. I can't even bear to vote in these polls anymore (but sarcastic posting is still (apparently) bearable for me).
  8. Ordered it. Don't like everything on this anthology. But, there's enough there for me to buy it. Looking forward to the release of The Mission.
  9. A Passage to India (Maurice Jarre) Ghostbusters (Elmer Bernstein) Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Julian Nott)
  10. I think that saying we're geeks not nerds is like saying the Pacific Ocean is wetter than the Atlantic Ocean... It's a difference without a meaning. Having said that - I consider us refined - or sophisticated as Composer_Fan said. Liking JW doesn't mean that we don't get laid, don't play team sports, don't drink beer and do all the other "cool" things... Listen to JW instead of the rock/pop/hip-hop music out these days? - there's no contest!
  11. Superman; don't know how to justify it except I like it better. My iTunes counter says that I've listened to the Superman Love Theme 21 times more than I've listened to Across The Stars.
  12. I'd be surprised if anyone mentioned CE3K at all...
  13. This is the correct answer! (IMO).
  14. Titanic is by no means a mediocre film. Technically the film is very, very well made. The direction, cinematography, editing, sound and music are all very well done. I think James Horner's score for Titanic is very good, and works very well in the film. I enjoyed the film thoroughly when I saw it, but it by no means changed my life. Titanic hit a nerve with audiences when it was released; the same thing happened to Star Wars and E.T. - none of these films was expected to be the highest grossing film in history, and each of them won this distinction. It's fine not to like a particular film, but I think it's unlikely that anything mediocre could generate the box office that Ttitanic generated. Audiences worldwide had an enormous visceral reaction to this film; in fact, Titanic's "earnings per screen" increased over the course of its theatrical release - this is almost unheard of in the film industry. That's not a sign of mediocrity - it's a sign of very sophisticated and very succesful filmmaking.
  15. Wow, JG's comments so closely mirror many similar discussions on this board! I'm so glad the he spoke plainly, and I don't think there's any doubt that the assembly line style of making a score referred to Hans Zimmer.
  16. I listen to JW every day at work (currently listening to "E.T.")
  17. This is a great idea, Joe. I have until the end of May to decide, so I'm going to take my time. Trouble is that I like pretty much every cue mentioend so far...
  18. I'll wait longer than September - I'm tired of spending money on the latest version of the original trilogy. I think I have 3 versions of the original trilogy (2 on VHS, and 1 on DVD). Too bad these didn't come out on DVD before I bought the special editions.
  19. Is that more or less geeky than making up polls on a fansite?
  20. The trailer was underwhelming; the best part was JW's music...
  21. I disagree with this. Prior to the release of Fellowship of the Ring, there was some concern at New Line as to how the film would do; even the filmmakers and studio did know how well the first LOTR film would do at the box office. This was also true for Fox and Paramount who paid for Ttitanic. Both studios were hoping to break even; no one had any idea what was going to happen. I don't think think that scores to even the most popular films are going to be huge hits unless the music is of high quality...
  22. BigMacGyver, IMO you didn't get ripped off for that album at that price. I also paid alot for my japanese edition of the TOD score...
