  1. Eaither way, my complete soundtrack now has this edit lol...
  2. The only difference between Eye to Eye and what's on the recording for "T-rex Rescue and Finale" is that I can see Eye to Eye working, I can't see what was written for T-rex working with the movie. I just watched the movie again, with the music matched with the music in the movie, then muted the movie and watched it with just the CD version. Eaither way, they removed those 25 or so seconds and replaced them with the same amount of time but with the JP theme instead. I dunno. What I do know is, I enjoy the version that's been released. I wouldn't mind, however, to have that shot as a deleted scene and I would LOVE if they released a complete soundtrack... It's about f'n time! lol... jeeze... it's like they're trying to pretend it doesn't exist. "Quick, hide the full score and act like it didn't exist! ::starts whistling tune::" When I made my full soundtrack, that's how I split it. I had it run from the begining of the raptor sequence all the way to where the music kinda trails off while Grant and Hammond are on the phone, then I have the next track start up where the other left off, but I still missed the JP theme at the end ... dur...
  3. (FYI: It is official. I hate how this site works. I've had to write this post THREE times because everytime I hit submit it says to sign in, so I hit the back button and it's gone. Gotta love it.) UPDATE: I just finished playing the movie with "T-rex Rescue and Finale" together 4 times and have discovered that INDEED there is a cut(in the music at least). The music finished with the string trem. at 6:42. And then, instead of the next, say, 25 seconds, you get the Jurassic Park theme as heard in the arrival to the island. Then it cuts back to T-rex Rescue and Finale at 7:06. Funny thing is I made myself a complete JP soundtrack as have many people and I own a few versions... and NONE of them have this cut in them. Gotta love it. That is some good editing. All this time we all thoguht it was the entire track when in fact there was an edit. Now, does this mean that footage was removed? No. Does this mean that footage could have been removed? Yes. Indeed it does. There is 25 extra seconds of music that could have gone somewhere else and are quite suspencefull which means it could have played in that shot that he spoke of. Now, I would imagine some more editing would be in order if they did that as how could they leave the raptor standing there about to lunge for 25 seconds... but oh well. lol. I also wonder if the scene wasn't edited because if you watch it, the raptor in the T-rex's mouth dissapears for a frame or so. You can serisouly pause the movie and the raptor will NOT be there. For such a crucial shot, I would imagine that to be something not worth overlooking. Perhaps in the editing process, there was a cut there originally that was put back together and the raptor wasn't there for it lol.. I dunno, idle conjecture... but still... I would have to say that this is a possibility. I've heard many people vehemently claim they saw it and there seems to be evidence it could have indeed existed.
  4. I've been a JP fan since it came out. I saw it twice in theatres. I don't recall that much from seeing the movie in theatres except that I loved it lol. The first time though, I hid through the entire raptor sequence. lol I was 7! I've heard this off and on that there was a scene with the T-rex entereing the Command Center. I don't remember seeing it, and as far as I can tell from the music, it wasn't there. Scores come out before the movie does and a lot of the JP tracks are complete unlike most of the Star Wars tracks that are heavily edited (Episode III for example.) That track would be complete minus that timpani and 5ths that you describe. Now, I havn't sat down and played the music along with the movie yet but I will and will let you know if there is any descrepancy. My confusion would come from it not having any. If all the music from the cd is there in the movie, then I would say that the scene probably never made it to the screen because the score came out before the movie did and how would they know to cut those.. eh...5 seconds... from it before the movie made it to the screen. I do admit however, that I had heard MANY MANY people on many a fanboard for JP saying they remember this scene vividly. Now as far as the trike scene goes, that was cut "." As far as I've heard or seen, that never made it into the movie in its entirety. If you look, however, you can see a remnant of the complete scene in the movie. Ellie stands up to say "I'd like to stay with the Trike; if that's alright?" and she has a stone in her hand because they'd just finished talking about gizzard stones and what not. That scene was cut because if you ask any scientist today, they'd say that Triceratops didn't have gizzards, but that the original animal from the novel--the Stegosaur--did. Good job Jack Horner  I've never heard that that scene made it into the movie.
  5. I found the trailer I saw on tv here http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/memoirsofa...L6a_Jjn1l1fVXcA
  6. I was just watching the FX channel, and they had the trailer on! But it was longer and different than the one from the website. It was similar, but it was also extended a lot. It looks really cool! I hadn't seen a trailer for it on tv yet! I didn't get to catch much of it because I was on the phone with my bf and I just happened to flip to the FX channel at the point where the lady with the cigareete says "Let me see her eyes..." and then saw the rest... It looks realy great.
  7. I was curious. Did you ever figure out the track listing of the Spanish bootleg? Mine has 31 tracks and I'm not sure what to do with it as I've never even seen the movie... lol
  8. They didn't need someone who coudl write a decent theme! That's my entire point! They needed someone who could do chase music, which he delivered. He went out of his way and made a family theme and a spino theme, but all in all, that wasn't required of him because of the type of movie this was. What's funny is the question wasn't "Is this a best score in your collection" it was "How good is this score."
  9. From what I've seen in the documentarys, Williams suggested Don Davis--and it makes sens--because Don Davis could do chase music and JP3, being a chase oriented movie, would be best done by someone who could do that. Now, as far as the score goes, I have the complete score to JP3 and I've listened to it a few times. The score does incorporate many John Williams themes. It's not something that I listen to a lot but it is something that I occasionally click on in my play list. You see, JP3 was a poorly done movie. It was done with lightning speed at the end and many of the promises made were broken and scenes were cut and such. I found that much of my favourite scorings from the film were from those cut scenes. Don Davis however IS able to capture the John Williams sound, the only problem is, it's the wrong sound. John Williams has a few sounds that he can choose from. He can be mysterious like Harry Potter, he can be silly like in JP "Mr. DNA" sequence, or he can be very robust and brassy like in Star Wars, or he can be delicate and beautiful like in "AI." He now has also added the ability to be very modern with his music as seen in "War of the Worlds" and to an extent, "Episode III." The thing is, If you listen to John Williams over the years, you can hear how his sound has changed, how the sound of Harry Potter changed over the years. His music has been getting deeper and darker. John Williams couldn't do JP3 because he was doind AI, and I've found that he tends to turn down the movies that will hold him back from allowing his sound to grow, such as Harry Potter 4 and JP3. Don Davis was able to pick up on the sound of John Williams, but it was the sound of John Williams in the late 80's early 90's. The score that comes to mind is "Home Alone," and to an extent, "Hook." Don Davis however, didn't fully capture the JP sound nor TLW sounds. He didn't have much of a choice though because he was scoring a movie that hadn't been made, that was going to be cut down to nearly nothing, that had a bad script, that looked different than the other movies, and that was just too playfull and too bright, and not realistic enough in the visuals. I look at TLW, and I feel like I'm on Isla Sorna, I watch JP3 and I feel like I'm in a mat painting or in a strangely bright tropical forrest--which by the way isn't natural but ok. Don Davis captures these in his music, and you can't really blame him for it. He did what he had to, and for what he had to work with, he did a great job. But it isn't the best soundtrack. There are some moments that I like. I found that JP3 would have been a better movie had it given people a break. If it had stopped to explore more of the island or more on the people, or more about InGen it would have rounded out the movie a whole lot better. Like, Seriously, in the begining, you go from crashing in the plane, to being attacked and chased by the spinosaur, to running into the t-rex, to being chased by the t-rex, to seeing the t-rex and the spino fight( which could have been an APEX of the movie) but instead was just a blah point--where the music was CUT btw--because of the just constant running. Had the audience been given time, then we could have grown into the movie, instead we're asked to run without entirely understanding what's going on. That time is crucial though to the score because it gives the composer time to grow musically and to develop themes and to just, bring the music to a different level. If you've played the lost world for ps2 you would understnad. That music has a few themes, but the track length themeselves are a minute or two long. That's NOTHING. The music has no space to develop, has no time to grow, and just becomes dull and repetative. Same thing with this movie. I like some parts like the music of them entering the InGen building and some of the chase music is cool. The end credits were nice (lol) and the spinosaur had a cool theme. Past that, I found the rest to be too playful. (long winded I know sorry lol)
  10. I read an interview recently and he said that he'll sit down at the piano and such and I can't recall how long it said he did so but he said that he wrote about "2 minutes" worth of music a day, but sometimes more depending on the instrumentation and such. I think that's what he meant, not that he wrotes two minutes a day lol
  11. I found it interesting that ususally, the tracks not released and the ones never used in the film were the best of the Don Davis score... I don't regret that John Williams didn't do JP3 though, he did A.I. instead and I TOTALLY am not sad about that lol I think Don Davis did a good job, and could agree that it must be hard to score for a bad movie but that his score had it's John William's tendencies but not the ones needed for the movie JP. I've noticed John Williams has several sounds that he can tap into. Like how Harry Potter sounds similar to Home Alone and such... And how Hook sounds like "Goodbye Mr. Chips and to an extent sounds like "Thomas & The Kind." Then again they were all musicals, except Hook which from all I've read was going to be one. I guess my point is that he used the wrong "sound" of John Williams for JP. yea
  12. I... never... wow... that... huh... You can definately tell the difference between John Williams writing and Don Davis though... the accompanyment is completely dfferent... That's the one thing I don't like about how Don Davis did the music... Everytime I hear the 'family' theme, I think of how much I hated the music to Toy Soldiers--don't know who did that by the way. But... that is really interesting... that woven within it was a theme I didn't even notice that's from both of my favourite musical spots in JP... interesting... lol
  13. Hey everyone. I was curious about this. I recently baught something on Ebay. The "Complete" 2 disk soundtrack to Hook. I've listened to almost the whole thing. I then noticed I had some trouble with the last few tracks on disk two. They must not have been burnt right or were damaged to begin with as the cd is not scratched. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get these kinda rare/random tracks. I tried emailing the guy and no responce. I don't know if he/she understands english as it was shipped form Argentina! lol... Any ideas? I'd realy rather not have to buy it again... Thanks for the help/input OH YES! and I almost forgot now. I heard there is a 4 DISK Hook soundtrack... I've never truly seen one but I've heard of it somwhere. Does anyone have this? Is it worth trying for. I'm assuming that it would have those tracks of mine that don't work... (just checked ebay and didn't see so). Is this a real set?
  14. there's a track in Jurassic Park that kills me everytime... You can hear one of what I can only assume to be one of the cellists sitting back in their chair... you hear the chair creaking. The very very end of "Journey to the Island." "Incident at Isla Nublar" even has this "boom" near its end
  15. I forgot a scene: The shot in Episode III when Obi- Wan and Anakin were dueling, and the lava bursts up behind them and the music swells... goosebumps everytime!
  16. I have the complete soundtracks to JP and JP3. Even the commercially released one for JP has the Raptor/T-rex theme on it. Steven may call it the raptor theme, but many fans call it the T-rex theme because it's used almost interchangably between the two.
  17. OOOh...that's a toughy... -I love the actual funeral music from Padme's funeral. -I love that minor third of the violins when in Episode 3, near the end, when Leah is brought to Alderan as we see the outside of the tower and then the wife... I actually could feel and smell the cool, crisp air of Alderan everytime I saw that. -Anakins Betrayal -Lapti Nek/Jedi Rocks lol -The Theed palace music. It seemed whenever that was in shot, The music was gorgous... espicially the moment when Amidala was in the red dress and drooped her head as she stared out the window. -Any battle music from Episode 1... that score is still my ultimate favourite. And lost but not least: -Jabba the Hutt's Baroque recital hehehe!
  18. The spino theme I'm just noticing is almost the T-rex theme inverted... You have the t-rex theme which is in 4 and is: D, D#, C, (octave lower)F# The Spino Theme is in 3 and goes: (which sounds like the beging of the JP theme itself) 1C 2-3F#, 1D 2-3G# As far as the T-rex theme... it's kinda safe to say that it's a Raptor theme as well simply because the raptors never relaly got a theme and the t-rex did but whenever the raptors are used, they seems to use the t-rex theme... So it's kinda t-rex/raptor theme. ps: why can't I ever stay logged in. I have to log in for every message I post!
  19. LOL! The only thing I can think is Family Guy. I feel really stupid because I'd never heard that part of the Indiana Jones soundtrack... and one day I was writing and I hear that...and I immediatly thought "Porn?"... yea... I'm sad... Should he? I'd buy it!... the soundtrack I mean
  20. As an avid JP and John Williams fan, I looked into this: I have always called that 4 note motive the T-rex theme. It is, though, not incorrect to note it's used along with the Velocoraptors as well(the only other carnivores that have music accompany them.) There is no outright stating of a theme for the Raptors though; on the soundtrack, there is a track that is kinda the raptor theme but it's realy more of mood music... ambiance from the kitchen scene. There is also a game that came our called Jurassic Park Operation Genesis that is quite possibly the most accurate game adaptation of the Jurassic Park music palate to date. In the game, when you produce a dinosaur, a little bit of music plays along with a voice introduction to all your guests in the park of the new addition. The t-rex's arrival has the 4 note motive where as the raptors have something new that the composer wrote--at least, not anything I recognize from the movies. So, It's kinda safe to call it the T-rex theme as everytime we see her--and there is music--the theme plays.
  21. If you find them. Let me know. I'm half interested in just goin through the movie and naming them myself... But I'm not in the mood lol. Does yours have the electronic noises on it? Or is it pure orchestral? I noticed that the begining and end credits themes didn't have the "peew!" electric sound... I resorted to making it myself! lol But I do have the tape soundtrack as well, so now that you've reminded me I'm gonna put that on my computer and such.
  22. funnily enough, I actually once listened to that soundtrack on a bus on the way to an orchestra competition. I was listening to The Halloween track, and I twas hillarious because the quirkyness of the track matched that of what the kids on the bus were doing. I started laughing. THe guy next to me scooted away, so I had him listen to it too. He laughed. I'm like "SEE! I'm not that crazy!" This one girl in particular really matched the beats... it was amazing... good times...
  23. Well, as far as most of my cd's... I tend to top off around $30... Like... the hard to get ones. I actually got Earthquake for like...$15, and I have both versions of Towering Inferno (2 disk and 1). The 2 disk was like... $25...and the 1 was like... $60? Witches of Eastwick I got this complete version for like $25... and I just baught the tape version of Accidental Tourist. I used a program on my computer to clean it up. Can barely tell really. I tend to look more for complete than price. Like when I was trying to find the soundtrack to AI, I could have baught the one disk, or the 1 disk promo from the awards... but I wanted the 2 disk awards version. So I got that one. I could care less about the others really because the complete one has all that music on it plus some. So as far as price goes, I gague it on the item. If it's something I'm realy looking for like Dracula--which I still can't get a hold of--I'm willing to pay for it... but if it's something that pops up a lot and you know, has 6 tracks... I might wait...
  24. HAHA! You made me go look for it and I totally found it1 Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban Track 8: The Whomping Willow and Snowball fight. 46 Seconds in to about 52. :-) There's a little more a little later aound 1:11-1:19.
  25. That's what they said. That it was being recorded two days after they return, which would be... well... this week. It takes a few days to record it so maybe we'll hear something of it next week?
