  1. War of the Worlds. Didn't do a thing for me outside of the movie...but in the movie it worked wonders, and that's what the Oscar's for anyway...
  2. Very trueHey, Wrath of Khan had...what? 75? 80 pieces? Recorded in early 80's... Sounds bigger to me than a lot of 100+ piece orchestras employed in soundtracks today. There are a lot of massive orchestras in soundtracks that don't sound sound all that massive. U-571 immediately comes to mind... Van Helsing sounds a mute but heavy too...and that was pushing near 120...
  3. Didn't Cutthroat Island utilize all 120 pieces of the LSO at all times?
  4. Far and Away, Jurassic Park, The Lost World.... Off the top of my head.
  5. I instinctually hit ESB... DAMMMIT! I thought I had gotten a hang of this.
  6. As much as I liked Return of the King.... The Maestro wins for The Omen. There is nothing more evil. Except maybe the frenzied action music in "Spock Walk" from TMP.
  7. You know, I just listened to it from start to finish for the first time in about a year...and I must say...I agree completely. Funny...I used to love it. Though this round my vote goes to Home Alone...
  8. TPM is great... The last Star Wars score that was a Star Wars score...
  9. I don't think I've disliked anything I've voted for up until this point...and not even this point, or the foreseeable points. *Crosses fingers for Far and Away* I can't believe how underrated it is... :?
  10. I haven't listened to it in a long time, but I know it didn't have much depth before I got my current system, and it sounds a bit thin. It certainly always sounds "nice", but without the right system, you easily loose a lot of details. Marian - who also doesn't think you hear nearly as much air as on Summon the Heroes. I can definitely hear what you're talking about. Comparing it on different speaker systems, it can sound very thin. On something crappy it sounds like thin high frequency noise...but with the right set up...the bass drums do really move the air. But personally, I always tend to run a few of my own sound edits on a lot of soundtracks to beef them up....
  11. It was either to be Home Alone or Jurassic Park... With tears, I voted Home Alone. Far and Away better survive.
  12. Yes... Unfortunately it looks like it'll be voted off.
  13. I hope Empty doesn't mind... but for those of you who enjoyed his piano arrangement...but didn't like the whole synthy midi... http://s58.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0XO2X8K...6605D7IQ3PP6KPU Now it's a real piano! Enjoy...
  14. Far and Away...Empire Strikes Back...Close Encounters.... and also have to agree with King Mark on Chamber of Secrets
  15. Leaving Drydock... Followed closely by Enterprise Clears Moorings... Everything else is way behind.
  16. Did we all hear the same Mummy? There's far better Goldsmith scores that I wish were nominated... 13th Warrior out of that same Mummy year, for instance.... No track in The Mummy holds a candle to 'The Fire Dragon"
  17. They still haven't made the fifth one....let's all slow down!!!????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!??????????????
  18. Ah...played that with a 256 MB Grand Piano soundfont...fantastic work Empty!
  19. The Jurassic series ran out of gas after....Jurassic Park (1993). The first, and best, and should have been last.
