  1. Picked up the Philliadelphia Orchestra recordings of Pictures at an Exhibition and The Rite of Spring.
  2. I'm watching SuperMan 2 for the first time right now...I'm only into the main titles. Wow...the score is a mess already...I'm scared to hear the rest of it!
  3. Haha I just realized...I saw David Amado conducting Fantasia in Philly this weekend! He's a cool guy and a great conducter, so I think he'll do a great job with this program.
  4. Its from Fantasia, which I'm seeing performed in Philly on Saturday.
  5. Check out the Music for Stage and Screen album, it has a 3-Movement concert suite from BOTFOJ on it that includes the Main Theme, Cua Viet River, and The Early Days.
  6. Two pieces? What could those be? I'd guess the Main Title and The Early Days. Gosh I want to hear that so bad, BOTFOJ is my FAVORITE.
  7. I think this is addressed earlier in the thread. The score has more sax solos and such than the album version... How about this one, in the JFK one where does the where in the Motorcade does the SE version begin? I can only find myself in it a few measures before the main theme begins in the horns.
  8. Mine is ----------. I also studied at Towson University for a semester, but the problem is at -------. Its a really good school otherwise, I'm not sure of the positions of other faculty members on film music though. I know my horn teacher loves Catch Me If You Can, but thats just one person. Hmm, I wonder how she's going to feel about this when I tell her!
  9. Well I'm just going to do the Franz Strauss Nocturno for this, but I'm definately going to do the Williams concerto for my senior recital, even if I do have to fight for it. Its just frustrating that people are so ignorant. Haha and I didn't know that you played horn either Ray.
  10. You would think that by this point in time that it would become more accepted as a genre. There is no denying that very much great music has come from film scores, not just by Williams, but by many composers. I know there is a lot of shit out there that passes for film music, but why should that bring down the genre as a whole? Even worse, why should a composer be demeaned just becuase he writes primarily for films? I would love for my school to be more accepting of it...I have been planning to do the complete concerto as part of my senior recital. But even if they don't accept it I'm still going to go through with the program, I want to teach music goshdarnit and they're not gonna stop me! Plus...when I teach...who's to say that I can't broaden kids horizons and introduce them to some of this great stuff? I'd like for there to be hope for the future!
  11. And so an injustice has been done. I went to sign up for my spot in our weekly recital series here at my school and I submitted my piece to the coordinator. I was going to be performing the Nocturne from Williams' Horn Concerto. As soon as the coordinator read it he promptly refused to approve it on the basis of "this is not acceptable, I can't have people performing movie themes at this school. It discredits us." And so I tried to argue that this was a CONCERTO and not a piece of film music and even if it were film music, how does that discredit the school? But he would here none of that. So in short hello Franz Strauss, bye bye Mr. Williams... How often do YOU hear something like this!?
  12. I've listented to it in the car on the way to school...does this make me a bad person?
  13. Well this stinks. Haha he doesn't own a scanner for his computer, so he's going to see about bringing his digital camera to the library to check it out.
  14. Haha no. I just recently decided to be social.
  15. Yeah...it sounds like its on life support now.
  16. NFL now has the bleeps in it. I didn't get a chance to save it yet, could someone send me a bleepless version?
  17. Well generally the beeps are on the mp3s so that you don't pirate them. I don't understand why the football one didn't have the beeps...that IS a mystery!
  18. Mmm, $40? That may be a signature edition score in which case its just the complete orchestral score without parts. They're all in that price range.
  19. The prices? Well you get the score AND parts for all the concert band/marching band/chamber ensemble stuff. Haha I didn't know all this would be such a big deal or else I would have brought it up motnhs ago!
  20. Actually I don't go there...but a good friend of mine is going there for composition through Rochester! What exactly do we need?
