  1. There are various scenes in the film that utilize the Chamber theme, naturally excluded from the album. That secondary Voldemort theme/Philosopher's Stone theme/dark magical object motif is also presented awesomely throughout the film (such as when McGonagall tells the students the Chamber is home to a monster and when the entrance to the Chamber is opened). I'd buy all three scores in a heartbeat.
  2. You're very good. I listened to the unreleased RotS tracks, Olympic Fanfare and some of the Raiders stuff so far.
  3. Nah, that's still Hook Yes. I went with Sorcerer's Stone. There are more moments in that one I love such as Luke's theme when Harry sees the train (unreleased), the complete Owl letter delivery scene (unreleased), Hagrid's tale of Voldemort (unreleased), the entry into the Great Hall/Diagon Alley (unreleased), the sorting hat scene (unreleased), entire Christmastime scene (unreleased), Voldemort in the woods (unreleased) and winning the House Cup (unreleased). My list of desired cues from POA is slightly smaller, and consists of: Harry uses Patronus charm the first time and Harry with the map (Peter Pettigrew's Theme).
  4. It's an arrangement of music mostly from Raiders (the show is recreations/extensions of sequences from ROTLA). There is music from Bug Tunnel and Death Trap used for the beginning temple scene. A suite of the music with the Temple entrance and escape, Cairo ambush, airplane fight and finale was released on the WDW album (I formerly had it on .mp3).
  5. I like the arrangement for the Indiana Jones Stunt Show at MGM.
  6. The iconic simple melody instantly evokes images of a rubber shark and three drunk guys singing on a boat. I'm split on this issue. On the one hand, it is annoying when people start applauding before a piece is over and it disrupts the experience. On the other hand people just get stoked when they hear the Star Wars title begin or the Raiders March, myself included. Last concert several members of the orchestra had smiles on their face when people cheered Raiders. The cheers usually come from the "cheap seats" at Boston hall (I know because I'm always down front and no one over there cheers/claps at those times). I don't give a crap because usually I'd join them if it wouldn't make me look like an ass.
  7. In ROTJ right after Luke throws his lightsaber away and he's become a Jedi, there's this subtle fantastic statement of the Force Theme. I love the Flying Theme, but it doesn't make the hairs stand quite as well as the theme from SW.
  8. I was watching V and the Star Trek fanfare when Kirk looks down at the plaque (after they go through the barrier) is such a classic spine-tingler moment. That's a great score.
  9. Since I got an iPod circa 2006, I've used iTunes as primary music player. I'm not a fanboy, the only Apple technology I use is the iPod, iTunes and Quicktime. I rip my music Apple Lossless and have no complaints.
  10. Jack Nicholson is the Devil, he has sex with three women.
  11. The argument against the stupid vine-swinging part hasn't been that Mutt is CGI, but that it looks fake and ridiculous because everything else apparently is. It was clearly shot against blue screen and filled with CGI and weird sweeping artificial camera movements. It's jarring like something from the droid factory scene in Episode II or something suddenly dropped into the Indiana Jones movie. Spielberg's cinematographer may have had a hand in also making Stan Winston's dinos in The Lost World look so poor.
  12. Well it's not like Spielberg just abandons the film in post production. He should have oversaw progress of the VFX, seen how poor and out of place this stuff was looking and said "JESUS CAN WE GET SOME REAL GOPHERS THE **** IN HERE PLEASE THNX!" He probably didn't care at that point after such a tense shoot, putting up with all of Lucas' weird story elements he didn't want to be a part of. When it came time for the VFX, probably left it all to Lucasland and stayed the hell out of the way. But using CGI gophers and monkeys certainly wasn't the old style of filmmaking he claimed they were doing. It was slightly more like the weird 1989 TLC animatronic snake and rhino way of doing things. Those didn't go over well either. Oh well.
  13. STEVEN SPIELBERG and GEORGE LUCAS made the movie. I don't know, it occurs to me that using real gophers for a few shots wouldn't have been a problem. On Jaws, I think Spielberg had a couple shoot some real shark footage and he used it in the film when it attacks the cage and thrashes around. There were real crocs in Temple. Could have just done the same here, for gophers, monkeys etc. Combining the elements in post would theoretically have been easy and they wouldn't have appeared blatantly CGI. It would have made that little difference.
  14. I'll have to re-watch these scenes because all I remember where jarring blue screen shots of Indy, namely when he whips the light and swings down at the cars, and then goes back into the other car. Those shots stuck out the most. Also, Mutt swinging on the vines. I haven't seen how they filmed this, but I'm certain it was with wires against blue screen. The background looks incredibly fake and these shots were very jarring in the film, especially when he swings into Agent Spalko's car. I accept the use of CGI/modern effects for the alien finale and all that, after all Raiders' finale and various FX scenes in the older films were done with modern technology of the time. However, I can't accept it for these kinds of stunts. They were all done practically in the old films and there was never anything as jarring as Mutt and Indy swinging at these various instances. I've concluded it's because they weren't done 100% for real like in the old movies (ie young Indy running around train, Indy in truck chase and tank scene). Is there any instance where they did this in the other three films for the stunts?
  15. Indy swinging around in the warehouse was NOT filmed for real. It was clearly blue screen/CGI enhanced. I know they built a set for that scene, but those stunts were not real. They didn't look convincing. Actually the only one I can think of was in the trailer when he swings down into that guy and kicks him through the window. I'm not confused, just show me BTS footage of those shots. Guaranteed blue screen.
  16. It's still fake. It's filmed with cables against blue screen, it must be because that's how it looks...artificial. Compare to stunts in scenes I mentioned. They didn't film River Phoenix or Harrison Ford (or their stunt guys) on cables and stuff against blue screen and then place them into the environments in post. Mutt swinging into the car, Indy swinging in the warehouse is poor CGI. I remember Spielberg saying they were going to do things like in the old movies. Fact is they didn't and it shows.
  17. CGI gopher was unnecessary, CGI Mutt vine swinging even more unnecessary. In the old movies they did stunts like that for real, even it was a stunt man. Imagine if they did the "jumping onto the tank" scene from The Last Crusade today. It'd be a CGI monstrosity, "filmed" with over the top "camera" angles and just inspiring you to think how fake it is. Are you telling me they couldn't just film the car driving and have Shia or his stunt man swing into it? In the old movies you had Harrison Ford looking like the baddest mother f***** on Earth all jacked swinging into the mine cart, River Phoenix running around on a moving train jumping between the cars, the truck chase, etc. Mostly there was realism when there could be. The closest they got to the old movies was the motorcycle chase and the part where Indy jumps onto the vehicle with the soldiers in the jungle chase.
  18. I'd rather the return of one of Indy's sidekicks that we liked from the past movies, like Sallah or Short Round. "Mac" was unlikeable and annoying. His character was basically a male retread of Elsa from The Last Crusade, mixed with that guy from The Mummy (including the catalyst for his death and the hero trying to help him in his final moments). As a matter of fact, the same thing happens with Elsa in TLC regardless of Mummy! What were they thinking...
  19. Jungle chase reminded me of the mine cart scene it looked like a lot of rear projection matte effects. The river scene reminded me of the fake raft scene with the rear projection matte effects. Except KOTCS had more modern effects. ROTLA's truck chase I believe had one FX shot.
  20. I liked it, but it could have been much, much better. The best scenes in the movie were Indy and Mutt in the diner, motorcycle chase, the cemetery and jungle chase. A lot of action scenes were similar to Temple Of Doom in that they were fake. The overlong climax is really where it all starts to fall apart for me. It's a bunch of standing around is caves. The aliens have no clear motive, it's unclear what happens to Agent Spalko and why, the temple collapsing into a UFO is completely confusing and the whole Crystal Skull thing is not explained at all, nor can I even infer WTF I just witnessed. The cheesy wedding is lame.
  21. I love that too. The plant scene in the closet is one of the most magical film moments.
