  1. I feel for the people who were looking forward to this concert, but at least it's cancelled for a good cause !
  2. YES! Masada is top 5 Goldsmith in my book too, and missing the 2011 2 CD release is (was!) one of my big regrets. I didn't know the album was a re-recording!
  3. I had absolutely no prior knowledge of League of Legends before watching this.
  4. Agreed on pretty much all counts! I didn't expect much, and it was an excellent surprise. Most impressive were the animation, both in a dynamic camera movements and in minute facial expressions, and the music, a standout for me in 2021 (though admitedly I haven't listened to much). Compared to the 2 other series you mention that I've seen, Castlevania and Blood of Zeus, I would put Arcane above them, no doubt!
  5. I was 10 when the movie came out, and by that time my sister and I were already obsessed with the books, so my parents took us to see it, and that obsession expanded to include the movie. Later they bought the soundtrack, and I'm not sure I knew before then that you could listen to music from a movie on its own. I'm afraid we mostly used as an ersatz for the real thing, namely the movie itself, while waiting for the VHS release. We were mainly listening to Hedwig, Wondrous World, and highlights like the quidditch match and the chess game. The same thing more or less happened with Chamber of Secrets, then with Prisoner of Azkaban (which actually disappointed us, being a departure from the sound of the first two movies). It wasn't until I discovered (Lord of the Rings and) Star Wars circa 2005 that I got into film music per se. I actually listened to the first score (LLL edition) last week end, and I must say, there is A LOT of Hedwig Theme
  6. Oh yeah ! Typical ! But then, conversation or not, it didn't matter at all, because the Big Bad just... escaped. Right under their nose. Somehow ?
  7. Well, it's still a Chibnall episode, IMO lacking in the excitement and imagination and clever concepts to be found in Moffat's episodes, but I'm curious to see what the more serialized format does for the show and the characters. Karvanista was fun. The Weeping Angels sequence was infuriaring, Claire knew what they were and yet she turned not once but TWICE to look for the keyhole of her door !
  8. The only applause that bothered me was at the end of the Elegy on saturday- barely left time for the last notes to fade. On thursday there were those few seconds of suspended silence you might expect after a quiet piece.
  9. Aww, so he was camera shy at the time.... How far he's come that he got a starring role in the last Star Wars !
  10. His mortorcycle story gets funnier with each retelling! Maybe people were keeping their strength for the real thing
  11. Nah, Vienna was plenty exuberant too. Especially compared to the first half of the Thursday concert in Berlin (no standing ovation except at the beginning and at the end, if I remember correctly). Conversely I thought there were too many standing ovations on Saturday in Berlin: basically for every piece. Made it less special. But obviously those are details.
  12. I thought the same thing ! I wonder if that's why the theme was a little muted, though that's unlikely.
  13. Guys, that applause at the end... I don't go much to concert halls, but I've never seen something like that. I noticed on Thursday that the applause went on for 10 or 20 seconds longer than usual after the musiciens started packing, but tonight it just didn't stop. A good measure of our love and appreciation for that man. I nearly believed he would return ! And he will, next year !
  14. Well, he struggled for the name "donnybrook", and he clearly didn't remember Karen Allen's name. But the important thing is that he knows the music (he didn't even need the score for some of those pieces, e.g. Raiders' March), and he conducts as if he were some 30 years younger ! Actually he seemed more healthy to me than he did in Vienna !
  15. Pretty much that, except for a little self-deprecating addendum about the hurt vanity of the composer and he didn't remember Sean Connery's name, and got help from the audience
  16. He was nice enough in his introduction to call the pursuers "bad guys" rather than "nazis"... His jokes about the motorcycle were a lot of fun Great piece by the way, in an arrangement I'm not used to. I'm glad it will be on his mind when he starts scoring IJ5, instead of, say, Adventures of Mutt...
  17. I thought he meant it more as an anoucement he would write the music, rather than saying he would literally get started the moment he returns to LA... Didn't he talk about spring ? I didn't quite catch that part. And he said that the movie was on schedule, despite Ford's injury.
  18. Yeah, the weather is a little gloomy right now. Better luck in Milan in June next year !
  19. I dunno, the idea of Indy in the 70s doesn't do much for me, if time travel can get him back to the 30s and fun times with the nazis I could get behind it.
  20. Looks like this is actually happening... If I had not been to Vienna, I would be beside myself right now. As it is, I confess I'm only very excited
  21. Amazing !!! I can't believe the embarrassment of riches we're getting in Europe ! That was unthinkable only 4 years ago !
  22. Thank you for the recap Jay! I hope Williams remembers Irina's Theme. We never got a proper recording of his 2008 concert arrangement, but maybe an "update" like he did for Marion's Theme and Han Solo & the Princess ?
