  1. For Gloria's Montage album I just donated a tiny amount of money and yet all donors appear in the booklet :))
  2. This! Also, Cameron said to James Horner: no violins! I can't imagine he actually thought about John Williams if he had a clear vision of a score without violins.
  3. there were at least 10 empty seats in the balcony on the Sunday concert....
  4. I used to play in a brass orchestra and besides Prussian and German marches we did arrangements of ABBA songs. Compared to that, the Flashdance piece is neat, indeed.
  5. it’s not bad to agree to disagree. but also pls bear in mind I‘m not a native speaker. And naturally, sometimes I don’t find the 100% correct/fitting word. happens.
  6. I didn’t say it wasn’t amazing. Hook, CE3K, E.T., JP, War Horse - incredible!
  7. back in Berlin. Four closing thoughts: 1. despite the historical scale of the event I can‘t let go of the thought that I feel like it was a missed opportunity to perform more unknown pieces like War Horse (which, besides CE3K, was my personal highlight). It’s obviously not my part to tell JW which of his music to perform, but the set list does not reflect his whole oeuvre at all. Then again, that’s also a more general concern I’m addressing here: The JW signature editions are great concert music but I wished there would be more actual score material as performed and recorded for the film. The last 20 minutes of TESB would make a marvelous concert experience IMHO. 2. I witnessed one of the most hilarious scenes on Sunday after the concert at the stage entrance where about 50 people were waiting for JW and ASM. One of the usher came out for a smoke, standing in front of the door, just 1 meter apart from the waiting crowd, lighting his cigarette, standing there and looking like Daniel Craig‘s Bond, not giving a damn at all. Hard to describe, but I’ve had a blast. 3. As great as the concert experience was, I have to say that watching 1917 in a cinema yesterday night had an even more emotional impact on me... 4. I‘d prefer photos and/or real names instead of avatars in this forum. 😇
  8. he meant Sabrina being the highlight of the Mutter pieces. But yes, horrible writing. Not as bad though as the text on the website of the Musikverein, where Williams is compared to Mozart. 🙈 https://www.musikverein.at/magazin/2020/jaenner/der-alleskoenner
  9. yes, by all means, let’s make this forum bilingual. ✊🏻🙃 but yeah, one of the camera operator told someone there’s going to be a bluray dvd release. So I’ve read in the German Facebook group.
  10. more like early and late entrances. Brass was magnificent. I only noticed one cracked note in the opening Horn solo of JP.
  11. idk, Schindler's List as an encore just generally felt weird to me, especially between Tintin and Raiders, but then again, I'm German...
  12. I really like the Mutter album because the arrangements are interesting and I kind of consider them as reworks of/by Williams. But I have to say that the Mutter-pieces didn't convince me in the concert hall. Should add though that I had standing place in the back, but still... Anyone else feeling that the pieces seemed a bit shaky/crumbly? Not so much regarding the performance, more in a sense that the venue was too big for the more delicate pieces and solo sections. Oh yeah, and I really have to emphasize that for me personally the most magical moment was the very first moment when JW entered the hall and everyone stood up – within seconds. I've never experienced something like this. Very emotional moment.
