  1. Is that it???!!! or just another fake based on bits from video games?
  2. wow. does indeed sound like HP meeting Hook. Home Alone is also there. Although the sound quality of the samples is terrible, I think orchestration- and/or mixing-wise it does sound way better than Tintin.
  3. amazing how the guitar blends with brass when playing the theme!
  4. it's just a mock-up, not an actual cover, but I really love the string version of the "march of the resistance"!
  5. I couldn't help noticing that there are a few scenes in (especially) Spielberg movies that John Williams wrote music for but in the end hadn't any music at all. So far so good. I find it really interesting that those scenes work WAY better without music - at least that's my opinion. I think espeically of Jurassic Park ("Goat Bait") and Jaws ("Quint Meets His End"). Williams also wrote music for the scene in The Lost World when the T-Rexes get their infant back from the trailer, before the attack. Don't know if it has been recorded at all, I only saw the score. Anyway.. I think those three scenes are so terrific and tense, not least because there is no music. I added the unused track "Quint Meets His End" to the respective scene, I'm sure, something similiar has been done before in some way by someone here.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/tfcs2g44bi9w6gt/jaws.wmv?dl=0 But what do you think? Would the scene have worked better with music? Do you have other examples? Sorry if this or something similiar had been posted before, I'm still configurating.
  6. Hello everyone! I'm Henry from Germany. I'm a regular reader of this forum but it's mostly just too much traffic for me to actually write someting... But I'd like to give a short review of the SW Ultimate Digital Collection, comparing the sound quality with the other editions and releases. TPM To me there's no audible difference in the sound quality compared with the OST release, except the sound level is a tiny bit higher. AOTC likewise, but here the sound level seems to be exactly the same. And no "Conveyor Belt". ROTS likewise, sound level seems to be exactly the same. ANH I can only compare with the Special Edition from 1997 and the Anthology from 1993, I don't know how the original release sounds like. What I can say about the 1993 and 1997 editions is that I really like the crystal clear sound, it's very crisp and harsh. But the UDC sounds really strange. First of all sound level is quite lower. Noise is reduced a bit, so it sounds more smooth, but in a really bad way, I find. Very dull. For example, there are no more rasping side noises in the opening celli and basses in "Imperial Attack" - Well, Ok, that could also be considered as a matter of taste ... I really like those noises, it gives something organic to the recording. But here there are basically vanished, so you can imagine the extend of the "Remastering".... TESB Again, I can only compare with the Special Edition from 1997 and the Anthology from 1993. In the UDC there are vinyl cracking noises in all tracks - artificially added???!!!! ROTJ No difference whatsoever to the OST 1983 release. So in the end: very bizarre, I think. Especially the three different approaches to the Old Trilogy Soundtracks.Or maybe I'm really too naive and the leak is not a leak but just a otherwise complied collection....?!
  7. Horner was very touched on thursday (pre-concert), too. He sad a few things and was very, very thankful. I remember him saying "I never do concerts. I'm very private, I'm very shy. I do my job, go home at night. I rarely watch the movies in the cinema."
  8. http://hollywoodinvienna.com/en James Horner received the Max-Steiner-Award in Vienna last night. Has anyone been there, beside me? ;-) I can't believe I couldn't find any thread about that here... Anyway, I was there and it was a very bizare experience. The concert - well, you can get some impressions of the concept of these concerts if you search for some youtube-videos related to "hollywood in vienna". Although mentioned as a star guest and conductor, Horner didn't conduct any music at the pre-concert on thursday. Pretty disappointing. But during the second half of the programme I noticed someone just behind me, taking pictures of the concert (I sat in the last row of the balcony). It was James Horner! :-) He spend the last part of the concert standing in the aisle, watching the concert with his music. So I took the chance to get an autograph. Great experience - and typical for his shy and private personality. It sure was better than seeing him conducting his music ;-)
  9. I mean the photo of Omar Ben Salaad in the brochure ... it attracted my attention immediately, because it looked like a real photo.
  10. hey everyone ... Is it just me or did anyone else also recognize Spielberg's mini-cameo? I was laughing out loud so much ... but actually I felt sad, because it seemed I was the only one who recognized it, the complete audience kept silent
