  1. I think the Prince of Egypt is a much better film than the live action Exodus: Gods and Kings. Not to say that Exodus is bad, but POE was much more effective in bringing the old story to the screen in a glorious animated fashion, with great music to boot.
  2. Can we agree on something here? That The Temple of Doom is musically the most energetic and vibrant JW score in existence? I can't think of another where he weaves all those themes and ideas together with such relentlessness, barely leaving the orchestra time to breathe in between cues. This Concord release is excellent, a full CD of everything that makes Indiana Jones music fun. Or how an expansion can bring so much more brilliance to something which was already fantastic. The action cues for Doom are maybe less focused (but not less amazing) than what we had in Raiders, it's like the maestro went all out to make the action as hectic as possible. The one theme for Short Round is good lighthearted fun, especially when playing off Indy's. The darker, more ominous cues are great as well, and there aren't too many of those compared to Raiders. Once again, Williams didn't dwell long on the darker side, opting for wonderfully exuberant fun. The best theme, apart from the march is of course the one for 'Slave Children's Crusade'. One of his most heroic themes of all time. The 'End Credits' is once again the perfect send-off for everything that Indiana stands for. I can't hope for a more rousing closing cue. It sends me to filmscore heaven. So where do I put it in relation to Raiders and Crusade? Just a notch below the two. It's fantastic, and superbly written, but it may just be too borderline crazy to reach the heights of the other two.
  3. At long last ! And next month some label will announce the expansion. Maybe.
  4. I recommend The Fly II if you like the 2 Hellraiser scores. Those three are the Young's I return to the most.
  5. 90 % of the time I'm sailing around from one map marker to the next, haven't done many story missions yet, but I'm having fun with them, linear as they are. What platform did you play it on? First I tried it on X360, now for real on the Xbone. Looks splendid.
  6. Continuing my journey in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag... what a rich world to explore. I'm going for everything, every chest, side quest, every marker on the map Doing battle with multiple ships in the middle of a storm, awesome fun as well as visually astounding. I'm not sure if I would've tried it if A. people weren't praising about it on this board and B. it wasn't free with Games with Gold formula on Xbox. So to y'all that praised it to high heaven... you are right ! Brilliant game.
  7. Competitive gaming is not for me, I just want to have fun exploiting the rules that the developers set. I've always played Halo for the campaigns alone, I tried to get into the whole online thing, it didn't interest me at all.
  8. I'm interested in it. Currently I'm watching Californication, when that's finished I'll start with the biker gang.
  9. See, I don't get it when people refer to GB2 as a remake of the first. Because all I see are the same characters 5 years later (some having moved on) getting into completely different situations. I agree that the first is the best, but the sequel isn't too far behind. With such likeable characters it's impossible to hate it right?
  10. Hopefully there's some sort of single player mode with bots. It's what I played the most in the previous installments, and I had great fun with that. I prefer to be not among players with superhuman reflexes, even if they play as Jedi knights. It's essentially what kills the enjoyment of online games for me... Getting killed 10 times by someone 10 times as fast as me gets annoying quickly. Give me great balanced enemy A.I. over superhumans
  11. They all came back for the 2009 videogame adaptation, which is at its core GB 3, only not as good as the previous 2. Still it was worth it to hear them having fun again with their characters. As for this reboot, it can go get sucked into a proton pack.
  12. I'm a big fan of this one. They did a great job of creating the smoky hazy noire feel. The songs at the end are fantastic too. Oh absolutely. The whole thing adds enormously to the game's atmosphere and is a big love letter to both classic and neo-noir scores. And works quite well on the album to boot. Agreed... the music's as original as you can have in video game territory. There isn't too much Noir-ish music written these days. It worked wonderfully with the splendid art direction and script of the game. You've broken my heart! Have you even seen the game in action? If you had I'm thinking you could actually be impressed by what was achieved in LA Noire, a 50s detective thriller in the grand tradition of Hollywood Noir films. Acting by some big names, high quality writing, a rich artistic look and attention to detail, a fantastic detailed reconstruction of 1950s Los Angeles, musical references to the period, and much more. No I'm not defending the medium... I just know what I'm talking about.
  13. Though this will always be the lesser musical series if I compared it with Star Wars, the composition of Raiders remains goosebumpingly fantastic. I simply love Star Wars more. Unlike some, I don't mind (and probably never will) how the music is presented here (2008 Concord). Well until a new and more complete and more qualitative release happens. Which I'm not obsessing over. If it happens, great. If not, I have this. To not have the 'Raiders March' open the album... I love that, that always bothered me with previous releases. Keep it's most brilliant rendition for the end, that's how I love my scores. One time I wasn't too keen on how the score opens, the foreboding stuff never sat with me well. Also, a track like 'The Well of the Souls' still is a bit hard to enjoy but I can't deny it's effectiveness in the movie. The two-part uppercut of 'The Fist Fight / The Flying Wing' and 'Desert Chase' !! Doesn't get much better than that !!! The score is truly mindblowing and awesome to listen to but if I'm to be honest Last Crusade is my favorite (which will follow in a couple of days).
  14. JUDGE DREDD - DISC 1 Can't get enough of this. I totally dig all the revised cues, they're just as wonderful as what we had on the 1995 release, yet subtly different at the same time. This Silvestri has some big cojones !!!!
  15. Well good... I was worried there a little, you being on top of these things and announcing it before it's even official.
  16. With the 10% discount I've ordered these: - Wolf Totem (US edition) - Pas de Deux (Horner) - Capricorn One (Perseverance) - Vintage Cinema (Kunzel & CPO) I'll have to wait until september for dispatch, but it cost me 6 bucks less this way.
  17. Eminem had some good songs. But the others, I've heard of them but that's where it stops.
