  1. Yeah, pretty much this. Indeed Borders is in financial trouble. I'm moving sometime in October so I guess I wont really be affected too much.
  2. Yeah. Unfortunately it's pretty worthless. We used to get these $30 gift cards every month but they canceled that. So I think it's something like 30% off books, 20% off music and media (which customers get anyway, with coupons). Working there's fun though. Very laid back. Well, I'm pretty laid back wherever I work anyway.
  3. sorry Josh, I misunderstood you, yes, thats all our store got was 2 copies, I was kind of shocked, but since is isn't a hip hop cd thats about all we'll sell. they started reducing our soundtrack selection at my store to make room for blu ray dvd's which still are not selling yet the way they'd hoped. Hey, I work at a Borders . . . and you are now my enemy. I work in the stock room and it's been pretty cool seeing all the Indy merchandise come in. Today we got in the kids Crystal Skull sound book (I didn't dare look inside though). Although I did hit the Indy theme button about a dozen times throughout the day. Our CDs have not come in yet unfortunately.
  4. That was pretty good, although LOTR by George Lucas was a lot better. I did dig the part at the end where George was reciting his own movie though.
  5. I've only heard the OST, so maybe I'm missing out. The music doesn't strike me as anything fantastic. It's certainly good for a listen and it fits the film very well, but I don't feel the need to re-visit it often. So I gave it a 3.
  6. I like both themes but in Raiders, every time I hear it it sends chills. It feels threatening. The Crusade one has a fairly menacing feel as well, but Raiders edges it out for me.
  7. Alright, so there were a few of you discussing Todd and it's music . . . I couldn't find the thread (in the recent movie or music one, but I gave up after a few pages). Anyway, I enjoyed the movie. I think there was great potential. I rather loved the idea of Todd and Lovett and their "relationship." I didn't care much for the love story with Anthony and Johanna. Story aside, the singing . . . I don't think it was bad. It just wasn't as good as it should have been. And that's why I'm here. There are a few different CDs and I'm not sure which DVDs are available of what performances. So if someone wouldn't mind sharing their opinions, I'd appreciate it.
  8. 5. I actually listen to this one more than any other. I suppose it has to do with my fascination that it sounds different than the rest, and it's the one that started it all. There's never a dull moment and has a hell of an ending. No gripes.
  9. Yeah, you'd be better off not. I work in a book store so we've been getting in tons of Indiana Jones merchandise. Today the Ultimate Guide came in. They covered some things on Crystal Skull. I couldn't help but look. It didn't really spoil too much for me, but I can see where the story is going (to an extent). One thing worth mentioning, is something I found in the book to be very touching, and while I have no doubts it will be in Crystal Skull, I hope they don't try to squeeze it in in such a way that it will feel unnatural. It's almost a throwaway moment, but I really dug it. For those who don't care . . . The rest of the book was pretty cool, especially for the maps. I don't know how official the maps are, but one that caught my eye was the layout of Pankot palace and the temple of doom that lies beneath. It shows where the members entrance is as well as where the last Sankara stones were (they weren't too far off). It was neat, but I don't think I'll be making a purchase anytime soon.
  10. No. I don't remember the last new album I listened to where I didn't spoil it for myself before it was released. In the long run it doesn't matter but I want that rush of picking it up in stores and having no clue what'll be on it (for the most part).
  11. I agree entirely. @AzOutcast: I don't necasserily disagree with the guitar approach (even though, I do think that it would take a serious composer to do it right). But it was applied to the film in a sloppy, vague manner. And very often, it sounded like Djawindi was copying the temp of 'The Kraken' from PoTC 2. You're probably right. I'm not fluent with the POTC 2 score, but I was very excited to see this flick and God knows I really didn't notice how the score was used within the film (unless it was one of those "bad ass" shots when the guitars kick in).
  12. They have a little jazz number on the soundtrack, so I imagine it was used near the beginning when Stark was supposed to accept his reward.
  13. Well the movie was great . . . definitely one of the best comic book movies made. I'd say it's a nice companion piece to Batman Begins. Each is an origin story, making a more serious approach as to how the man becomes a super hero . . . but Tony Stark is a funny guy (as opposed to the much darker tone of Batman) so it's much lighter. I've been looking forward to this movie for such a long time so it's nice to see someone nail this. Way to go Marvel for making it, and Favreau and Downey Jr. for doing a terrific job. As for the score, I think it fits the movie perfectly. It's not terribly interesting to listen to on it's own, but it certainly isn't bad. In the film, the guitars support the character very well. If anyone's rock and roll, it's Tony Stark. Considering how poor rock guitars usually come through in film scores, this one pulled it off very nicely (I heard Tom Morello was involved with that?). The only thing I felt it was missing was a really solid Iron Man theme. But the movie is making big money and a sequel is inevitable, so we'll see.
  14. So I was checkin' out the action figures today . . . I probably should've avoided reading the back of the action figures. Not a major spoiler, but I'd like to go into this flick as fresh as possible.
  15. Well the day the score is released, I'm driving up to a freind's house with my girlfriend in tow and we'll listen to the new score for the first time then. Then on the 21st, Indyfest 2008 kicks off and a bunch of us will watch the original three (in order of release, of course). Then we'll catch a midnight showing of Crystal Skull. Hopefully it'll be nice and loud.
  16. I voted the complete Indy scores w/out Crystal Skull. I'm rather looking forward to my first listening experience of Crystal Skull. It will be on the 20th after work, when my girlfriend and I drive up to Orlando to stay at a friends house where we will proceed to have Indyfest 2008 (consisting of watching the original three and then catching number 4 at a midnight showing).
  17. It's pretty silly (although I couldn't put it down). Like you can imagine, it's a mock diary that Indy would've kept through his adventures with "clues" and pictures and whatnot. I didn't take a look in the Crystal Skull section though.
  18. I tend to bounce back and forth between film/video game scores and rock music. Right now I'm in rock mode and that can last a month or so, then I'll flip into score mode and listen to nothing but scores (no doubt my next score kick will being on the 20th). I've been like that as long as I can remember.
  19. The trailer looks great of course, but what is it with Marion smiling all the time . . . I guess her picture on the poster makes sense . . .
  20. Probably the Star Wars main theme. I've listened to that over and over on so many CDs and I'm still not sick of it . . . so I suppose JW did something right.
  21. I don't think it sounds bad at all. I actually quite like it. The quality is very poor though, so if this from the actual score, it's not really presented in its "full glory."
  22. Good question. I love all the prequel scores (not as much as the OT, but it's up there) and it certainly comes down to TPM or ROTS. I'm gonna have to go with ROTS for right now, because it has some great tragic and epic music. TPM does feel more like a traditional SW score. There's really never a dull moment. AOTC is disappointing. But I guess I could say the same for the other two, given what's happened.
