  1. Joe and the Gia Poo-Poo's eh? Sounds like a pretty cool band, I'll have to check em' out.
  2. The Right Stuff, simply because it's such an obvious 'rip-off' of The Planets. I'm sure Conti was bullied into doing that though, I like some of his other scores, but TRS is the worst in so far as it is almost completely unoriginal. Thusly my vote. The Milagro Beanfield War is my 2nd vote. Just a very scanty score, and it did win against much better competition.
  3. Well, since pi is the one who has all the rare printed scores, it would be very sad if he hasn't figured out by now that he ain't John Williams, and never will be.
  4. Vosk you are a weird one. Star Trek and 24?, talk about completely opposite ends of the coolness spectrum.
  5. you're cwazy... Why don't you just go to the original and get some more Copland? He wrote a lot of good stuff, other than Appalachian Spring, if you don't have it already.
  6. Meaning? I'm hardly the voice of reason in anything... Anyway, let me had this to my previous post: I'm fully unable to point out a masterpiece on Williams ouvre... a single one. Williams voice touches so deeply within my heart, and while some reach deeper, everyone has a special place in my heart. Am I the only one who finds it amusing that Miguel shrinks from the spotlight? I mean honestly, you are the expert on all things Williams. And to answer the question, no, not everything JW writes is a masterpiece, but it's never less than excellent. He is bound by the form of the film also, which limits him. I don't know his concert works well enough to say if they are a masterpiece.
  7. Thank you, hornist, for paying attention. Jeff and now we know, and knowing is half the battle! Keep working that catch phrase G I Joe, I'm starting to take a shine to it.
  8. Oh wow, thanks for filling me in, I would never have figured that out by myself.
  9. So when are we going to hear your music Pi?
  10. Gettysburg. All 4 freaking hours of it. The score gave me chills though, in a number of places. Nicely done Randy Edelman.
  11. The Fury. Somewhat a silly film though.
  12. you lost me AI, sorry don't understand. I like the cut of your jib means, I agree with you, I like what you are saying. An then I didn't want to leave Roald hanging out three sheets to the wind, so I scooped him up and tucked him in to the umbrella of approval also.
  13. Just because he has been "away" for a while doesn't at all mean he hasn't considered any number of films to score, maybe he even previewed them, and decided that's not for him. If he had a film that he really likes offered to him, he would have done it, I am certain of that. He has no intention of retiring. Williams will be back any minute now, pulling something out his magic hat, coming on like a hurricane.
  14. I am cracking up about this poll, but it's serious as hell. We are talking about a certain John Towner. Oh, and this subject is pretty original, I think...

Am I the only one who loves what Sean Callery does with this show?
  16. I was just going to do something like that myself., Really.
  17. It's well known that I lurve the cut of Joes' jib.
  18. Like the cut of your jib Joe. You too Roald.
  19. Yeah Shirley Jacksons (!) score is good for all the series. Have you seen FD 1 2 AND 3 Joe? Its a given that Williams would score the sweep, not just the first one. I think Williams could do wonders with Hostel. It's not beneath him. He would get his sharp pencils out, and proceed to create some of the most scary, avant-garde music you have ever heard. That's just how Williams do.
  20. Am I the only one who likes it when Vosk rolls his eyes.
  21. Am I the only the one who thinks Williams could work his magic on this?
  22. All of these themes are cool but can you imagine, A fully composed and orchestrated 10 minute suite of theme and variations by John Williams? I'm not including an 'other' option, because that totally negates the purpose of a poll, but you know, if you want to suggest another, go ahead, stick it on there, see if I care.
  23. No Poll this time. It's all about you, what you want to hear from The Master of Film Music. A certain John Towner Williams... It can be any film(s), what you think he could have, should have or might have wanted too, or any other reason you may like to explain. Any and all films are fair game. But let's limit it to five films at the most, just for poignancy.
