  1. But it's canon! I think McGann was a really good Doctor. I have no problem fitting him into the continuity of the series as a whole. The plot of the TV Movie... eh, it's not good. But it could've been worse. It could've been much, much worse. The Doctor with a talking TARDIS console off in search of his missing Time Lord father Ulysses, for instance...
  2. Bond fan here! Fan of the films, the scores, and the books. In fact, just about smack dab in the middle of re-reading the books. Finished the Flemings, Colonel Sun, Devil May Care, now reading Gardner's first, "License Renewed." Fun revisiting these after so many years. Brosnan grated on me after a while, he was fine at first, then got too cutesy/arrogant/full of himself/annoying (kinda like David Tennant in Doctor Who, liked him at first, got tired of him by the time the Specials rolled around). Craig is excellent. Connery still wins for me. I did like Dalton, and while they were enjoyable Moore and Lazenby are about on a par with each other IMHO. OHMSS was one of THE best Bond films, even with Lazenby. I'd go with FYEO as Moore's best, TLD as Dalton's best, and Goldfinger as Connery's best. Of course, IMHO. Oh, and Casino Royale as Craig's best (so far... here's hoping MGM's $hit gets worked out soon).
  3. I really wish they'd show a lot more of the TARDIS interior on the actual show. I know we got kinda close, with the wardrobe room in "Christmas Invasion" and the little cubby/alcove this past season, along with passing mentions of swimming pools, etc. And it doesn't have to be featured for the entire episode, just something that will really give kids the idea that this amazing space-time ship is mind-bogglingly HUGE. As opposed to just one large-ish room, which is all they've really seen in the new series. As far as the young folks today are concerned, the interior of the TARDIS is a big room. Whereas, in my day (old geezer warning), it was amazingly huge, with lots of different rooms, hallways, corridors, levels, swimming pools, Sontaran-eating plants... you get the idea. I just think it would make the TARDIS seem even more of an amazing craft. OK, slight rant over.
  4. I seem to recall hearing that Lucasfilm talked with Russell T Davies about possibly writing for the show. But yeah, he could've given them some good pointers on how to make it work, definitely.
  5. Never been a huge fan of the score for IV (though I do enjoy the movie... but it's not the best ST movie...). Too "cutesy" in a lot of places. I also think the sound quality is not that great. Always sounds kinda "muddy" if that makes any sense. Like it was recorded in a very small damped room. I know I'm not describing it well, but compare the sound quality of IV to that of V, and I think IV would've benefited from the... is "dynamic range" the phrase I'm looking for?... that V had. Anyway, my two cents.
  6. I blame Neil. I wondered that myself, I was expecting 2 or 3 pages of orchestra/choir members, since I'm so used to that lately. The listing of musicians appears to be an AFM-specific requirement. It's very rare to see a similar courtesy being afforded to London-based orchestras. Probably true. Just kinda felt odd since most of the CDs I've purchased recently have listed the musicians. If memory serves, didn't the original vinyl release of Empire Strikes Back list the LSO musicians? Man, that was an awesome LP presentation, those huge pictures in the booklet were so cool at the time. And I can remember reading the list of musicians and thinking maybe I could be one of them someday. Alas, I never got the chance to be on a Star Wars soundtrack... *sigh* I think I still have that album downstairs somewhere...

  8. Yep, noticed that. Can't recall exactly how the score plays out in the film at that point, though. Technically, I suppose. yes. Perhaps we should be specifying "original album version" or "non-film version"...
  9. Finally had a chance to listen to Disc 1 (been a crazy week!). I did notice a bit more "hiss" in some sections, but nothing that makes it unlistenable by any means. Overall there weren't a whole lot of amazing-gotta-have-it sections missing from the original soundtrack, but it's good to have a bunch more music included. One moment that I always liked is about 3 minutes into "Shootout", I think the part in the film where Batman jumps down and confronts Napier, a nice brief bold statement, I've always liked that bit and glad it's available now. Extended "Batwing" sections are good to have too. I have to confess I prefer the album version of "Descent into Mystery", the film version that dials down the choir significantly is considerably less "kick-ass" than the album version. Overall the sound quality is much, much better than the original release. Glad I ordered it!
  10. I believe it was originally on BBC Radio 3 (don't know if it's still up on iPlayer), but was also filmed for a theoretical (but unscheduled so far) television edition, possibly in August. Maybe. I'd love to see the whole thing, but I know it'll be edited down. I'd most like to see the "This is Gallifrey..." section with the regenerations up on the screen, curious to match the audience reactions to the regenerations...
  11. OMG! OMG! OMG! Complete indiana jones are coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :: Good one!
  12. My copy arrived today! Yay! Thanks, LLL!
  13. Yes, it's via email. First email confirmed my order, second email confirmed my order shipped. No tracking number, but I don't think LLL typically has tracking numbers, do they?
  14. Says my order already shipped. Woo-hoo! That sure makes a nice change from my usual luck!
  15. I've played both episodes so far, and yeah, the stealth thing is a huge part of the game, but it's the Doctor and he really doesn't fit in a first-person type shooter game, so the makers were rather stuck for options, I think. Matt's performance sounds very flat to me, but Karen sounds like she's at least having a bit of a goof at times. Still wish it'd been the classic type Daleks instead of the Teletubbies version. Oh, well.
  16. Thanks for the info, sounds like this will be a fun release to listen to!
  17. I actually did vote for the spaces between dashes, before I voted against it.
  18. I'd like "reissue" to be able to mean including expansions/unreleased stuff. Just not getting my hopes up in that regard. Would love to be proved wrong! (Yes, it's been known to happen )
  19. I had a skip on my Jaws 3 LP and for years my mind was geared to hear it. Then Intrada released the CD and when I played it for the first time I was expecting to hear the glitch. There was a very distinct couple of scratches on my Empire Strikes Back LP, which to this day my mind still wants to put in whenever I listen to that particular bit of music (Departure of Boba Fett, I believe). So I hear ya on that.
