Hint: If you're a white dude telling a minority that everything is fine and they shoudln't be complaining you should probably just not.

Seriously. It's getting old. This is not a "problem." Let it go.
On another note: This year's hairstyles were apparently provided by the Muppets. . . .
Hey guys! It's ok! Lack of diversity is not a problem! Thank God. I was really worried but this dude showed me the light. Minorities and under-represented people will stop complaining now I guess. Whew.

Ooh yes, 2004 was a classic. I remember watching it as a kid and still remembering the energy, despite the fact that I had never seen most of the films at that point.
But coming off the height of the recession, Ledger's death, and a bunch of pop culture hits, the 2008 ceremony was actually quite entertaining for its wieldy time. And Hugh Jackman was the best host in years. None of his successors matched his energy and charisma.
Love that opening number!
The Hugh Jackman-hosted ceremony is probably my favorite. It was only years later I discovered the head writer for that one was Dan Harmon, of Community and Rick & Morty fame, so it all made sense. He even won an Emmy for that Oscars ceremony!

See, I love E.T.'s end credits, including the alternate on the 1996 CD, but I prefer the score ending with "The Departure" as on the OST. So, for me, those end credits are an oddity and I rarely listen to them for whatever reason.
The piano in the E.T. end credits is just....yeah, all the positive adjectives.

It is a wonder to behold, the TFA finale, but I'll give it year before declaring it my favorite of the suite of themes variety!

One of my least favourite. 12 minutes long and about 10 of them regurgitated from the rest of the CD.
Yep! It's convenient when I don't have time to listen to the whole CD

I have honestly not gotten around to listening to The Hateful Eight yet but I certainly love the great Morricone scores of the past and I have no issue with Morricone winning for the "we missed up never giving you one of these before" reason.
I'm just glad Tarantino finally hired the real deal to compose original music instead of making a Morricone mixtape :-/
My wife and I always have a lot of fun watching the Oscars eating junk food and drinking beer and wine!

I usually prefer end titles that are not mostly comprised of other cues edited together, as good as those kind of suites can be.
Well it's almost like they're two separate categories!
So for me:
Favorite end credits that's a suite editing together the themes of the movie: "Mischief Managed" from Prisoner of Azkaban
Favorite end credits that's a distinct performance/composition: "A New Beginning" from Minority Report
-
The end credits from Born on the Fourth of July is another particular favorite of mine. Definitely my favorite of his Oliver Stone soundtracks.
-
-
I listened to the Minority Report OST for the umpteenth time today and when I got to "A New Beginning," the end titles cue, I realized that this is probably my favorite end credits cue from any Williams score. It's an absolutely fucking gorgeous piece of music that's become one of my favorite Williams tracks period.
What's your favorite end titles cue from a Williams score?

And with a fine Shore score as well of course!
Sadly, the score for Brooklyn was mostly just aural wallpaper in my opinion.
-
Fun fact: I saw both Brooklyn and Spotlight TWICE in the theater. Both are film masterpieces. So up yours Honest Trailers!

I finally caved a couple of days ago and ordered the Ultimate Vinyl Collection (thanks tax return!). It should be arriving today and I am so excited. I've actually never heard the original soundtrack releases for the OT. The '97 editions were the first Star Wars soundtracks I ever purchased.
Yub nub!

Only current scores. Bold means i actually made a Spotify playlist, regular ranges from 'would be unfair to leave it out' to 'one or more tracks bought off iTunes & Co.).

I was just listening to the excellent McFarland USA soundtrack, searched JWfan and this is the only reference I found to it.
Cheers! It's a really cool score.

Hey now, I may not understand what people who like it get out listening to Zimmer's music but I certainly don't think I'm superior for not. No one who loves ELO as much as I do could possibly be called an elitist
And I actually thought Holkenborg's score for Fury Road was perfect in context, just a slog as a soundtrack release.

The Russos are the first directors Fiege has trusted with more than 2 films (Whedon, Favreau, and Reed all got 2 and everyone else got 1)
Unsurprising really, given their background in TV direction and the MCU is very much modeled on television!

You'd have a hard time falling asleep with music that is so loud!
Actually I've always been able to fall asleep pretty easily to loud, droning music. It's like a white noise machine. That's what I'll call this score. Batman vs. Superman: The Official White Noise Machine.
-
It's so uninspired. Boring orchestration, boring production, boring melody, boring boring boring. It's like they're daring me to not fall asleep.
I prefer film scores to have life, wit, and performance to them. I don't like it when they want to bludgeon me into passing out.

My immediate reaction to the tracks I've heard from the score so far:

Never forget James Franco and Anne Hathaway. The worst in history.
