  1. Well, even Michael Bay has made one really interesting action movie that deals with international and absolute network in a critical way.
  2. Concerning Emmerich as well as Michael Bay: Is it about art and having a well told story or is it about motherfu...ing money? Why should you be bothered by terrible flaws if your fandom doesn't care?
  3. At least we have three anniversaries this year: Close Encounters, The Witches of Eastwick and Amistad. And Harry Potter has Live to Picture Concert, which usually leads to complete scores, unless Concord or Sony still own the rights. Moreover HP is a WB title and they were never too mean to keep the rights for their own and MM said we have to save money, which sounds like a big box set - and what else could it be? - The Oliver Stone John Williama Collection?!
  4. It's not that important to be historically accurate. Such a movie has to show you the historical circumstances and people's mood. It's the psychology and a neutral view that is important for an political comment. Unlike "Braveheart" "The Patriot" successfully connects the family drama to the historical context, but the movie focuses mainly on the family and some details can diverge from reality. "Braveheart" is just a Gibson-revenge flick, that tries to be realistic by showing incredibly much brutality, which is a typical Gibson trait. The other way round. The title of "The Patriot" is distracting, especially being a Emmerich movie.
  5. Many movies' pictures can spoil the music, especially many of Goldsmith's works are ruined, after you've seen the movie.
  6. That's not the only similarities. When I first listened to Rudy, which was just a few weeks ago, I really thought of Forrest Gump and the movie's pictures occured in my head. (Haven't seen Rudy.)
  7. Many parts of "Forrest Gump" from 1994 are similar to "Rudy" from 1993 (tune, instrumentation, atmosphere,...), some parts ring exactly like "Rudy". I've never heart such obvious and striking similarities between two different composers. Just compare "The Crimson Gump" to "Take Us Out". Your comment?
  8. So, which OSTs have really the same recording twice? - Amistad (it's still the same recording) - Seven Years - Saving Private Ryan - Angela's Ashes - The Patriot (same here) Additionally OSTs that got replaced by complete scores: - 1941 - Rosewood Anything else? - Minority Report?
  9. I can understand why Ripples was edited in the movie. But on album the original version is much more interesting. I guess the reason why the film version was not on the JP collection is because you need the sound effects to hide the edit points.
  10. I wanna know which ones! Now! And I want to get them! Now!
  11. But there are more and more complete scores on vinyl, like Warlock, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Alien.
  12. Yeah, I also think the part when Malcolm approaches to the window is supposed to be a little moment of silence. Nevermind, the scene is just completely different with "In the Trailer", but I prefer it to be left off.
  13. Whatever we expect or predict, it is gonna happen the other way 'round (Jurassic Park Collection).
  14. We need an extended cut of that movie! I wouldn't call it the "Director's Cut", it would be the "Original Cut" or the "Lost Cut".
  15. Has the A.I. score always been hyped like this or is that since the LLL release (like TLW)?
  16. You should have included WotW either. I always considered them a trilogy of cold, more pessimistic Spielbergs. And all scores have that cool choir-like synth.
  17. The Indy universe is a universe for angry gods and not for friendly aliens. One should ignore the fourth film and create the new film as a sequel of the trilogy, because you cannot continue the story in a universe that has already been spoiled by aliens, UFOs and nuked fridges.
  18. I'm looking forward to "The Wrecked Ship" which wasn't even mentioned yet. But well, it is one of the least interesting cues of the score, which raises the question why it was included on the OST unlike, for example, "In the Trailer". The only thing that bothers me with the new set.
  19. War of the Worlds - underrated along with Rosewood - maybe no one cares about the rights and gives it to LLL as soon as possible
  20. I wouldn't count on a nine-score-box-set. Three three-score-box-sets are more probable, released one after another.
