  1. It won't take too much time until the special labels are almost completely done with Goldsmith or at least with the popular titles that are still left to be expanded. This is excluding the Varese titles which will just be gradually expanded, but at least they will. Now my question is what you want to be expanded next by Varese! What three titles are you unpatiently waiting for? 0 people voted for MOM AND DAD SAVE THE WORLD more than 15 minutes are missing ***** 5 people voted for MEDICINE MAN approx. 15 minutes are missing 0 people voted for LOVE FIELD the amount if missing music can hardly be estimated ****** 6 people voted for RUDY approx. 20 minutes are missing 0 people voted for MATINEE more than 15 minutes are missing 0 people voted for CITY HALL more than 10 minutes are missing ******************************* 31 people voted for AIR FORCE ONE more than 50 minutes are missing ***** 5 people voted for L.A. CONFIDENTIAL more than 10 minutes are missing ***** 5 people voted for U.S. MARSHALS approx. 35 are missing ********* 9 people voted for THE 13TH WARRIOR more than 20 minutes are missing ** 2 people voted for HOLLOW MAN more than 25 minutes are missing 0 people voted for ALONG CAME A SPIDER approx. 30 minutes are missing ** 2 people voted for LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION more than 25 minutes are missing *** 3 people voted for TIMELINE more than 30 minutes are missing *** 3 people voted for Another less popular score (ANGIE, CRIMINAL LAW, MALICE, MR. BASEBALL,)
  2. Well, it is not difficult to be no slouching of this period. TBfB is great, but honestly it is hard to listen to. It took me a lot of time until I could fully enjoy it.
  3. Scores like E.T. have always a tone of awe and joy in it. A.I. is constantly cold-hearted, even the more optimistic parts of it seem to be weirdly soulless (which is the reason why i consider it one of his best scores). But the widest RANGE of emotion is Jurassic Park, for the moments of awe have nothing threatening in it, whereas the dangerous parts ring highly agressive and sharp. That's my impression.
  4. I think Magic is one of his best scores - each track is different, little repetitions, a wonderfully inventive instrumentation, great harmonies and chord successions and a brilliant and disturbing transition from beautiful to terrifying music - a very elaborated work.
  5. That is our Jerry! ?! It's another great question: What's the best year of Jerry Goldsmith, regarding quantity and quality of his scores?
  6. Is "The Swarm" a great Goldsmith soundtrack or is it one of those casually composed scores, like "U.S. Marshals" or "Executive Decision"? I'm asking because I know four of his scores from 1978 and they're all great, so there has to be at least one less ambitious score. ;-)
  7. Apparently, LLL hinted at "The Swarm"! Any other clues?
  8. The film version of "The Altar" is tracked from "Don't Let Him". The film version of "The Dog" (that odd synth sound which does not ring like Goldsmith, but like source music) is lost, but luckily we now have the original Goldsmith cue. "Dog on Patrol" is lost. You can hear the sound effects on the isolated score. But it was tried to suppress them, for the cue rings very muffled on the isolated score. The only thing VS did not care about was to swap the main title and the end title. Annoyingly they spared all expenses to put the score into right order. All in all, this release could have been more delighting, but VS couldn't always help it.
  9. Hopefully, David Lynch will make another movie after that. There are only nine real Lynch movies, which is very tragic.
  10. I never understood why they did that tension destroying edit called "Ludlow's Demise". That track has always been very confusing - till now. There were portions of that track in 3 different chapters of the movie and you didn't know if it was because of the film edits or because of the album edits - most confusing track ever!
  11. That's my number 2 from The Lost World. How can one leave it off the OST?!
  12. It's like Saving Private Ryan or Munich: Absolutely no reason for an expansion (in case it is possible to expand it at all).
  13. Dammit! No Goldsmith title! Hurry up Varese, there's still so much to do concerning that guy! At least there are only 3 Williams titles left for Varese: The River, Dracula and Presumed Innocent.
  14. I can completely comprehend what you mean. Nevertheless my favorite scores are 1. "The Lost World" 2. "The Prizoner of Azkaban" and 3. "The Temple of Doom". My favorite cues of them are "Rescuing Sarah", maybe "Confusing Confrontation" and "The Deadly Potion/Molarum's Speech". Moreover "Rescuing Sarah" is my all time favorite piece of music (taking every genre into consideration)!
  15. What do you think, is there any chance one of his announced future scores will be a little bit edgier than his other post-indy-4-stuff? I mean more like WotW, MR or TLW?
  16. Have you ever noticed that "Jaws", "Jaws 2" and "Jurassic Park" were recently expanded and "JFK" as well as "Jurassic Park III" are already announced! It's the labels' "J-phase"! Or it's a conspiracy, additionally considering that "JFK" contains a title called "The Conspiracy".
  17. Much diversity, concerning themes and musical ideas. Besides an unique general tone, unlike Book Thief and BFG.
  18. I also think his post-2005-scores aren't as creative as his older ones. Except War Horse and Lincoln. Especially Lincoln is drama music as great and creative as Munich and Schindler's List. Highly underestimated!
  19. Many scores you chose are non-typical for Williams, depressing and/or very sinister, oddly sounding ones. Especially War of the Worlds, Sleepers, Presumed Innocent and The Lost World.
  20. No particular order and all post-Jaws: Midway Sabrina The Accidential Tourist Always Stanley and Iris Family Plot Black Sunday Far and Away Now it's gonna be difficult: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull
  21. That's all that needs 2 discs: 1 The Mummy (ca. 100 min.) 2 Lionheart (more than 90 min.) 3 Small Soldiers (ca. 90 min.) 4 Air Force One (more than 85 min.) 5 Legend (ca. 85 min.) 6 Star Trek: Nemesis (84 min.) 7 Star Trek: The Motion Picture (84 min.) 8 The Shadow (80 min.) Unluckily places 1 to 5 aren't completely released yet, so there is no real proof.
