What are special labels like La-La Land and Intrada going to do, when there are just Varese titles left. Will they probably buy the licences from Varese to do at least a few new Goldsmith titles or will we have to wait for Varese slowly releasing the rest of uncompleted Goldsmith scores over several decades? Or are there any scores like Jaws 2 that can be completed by another label although the OST is a Varese title?
-
You must consider the time the production of nine expanded scores takes. If there is a plan to release all of them when the episode 9 is released, they are already working on it. So, why was MM not allowed to talk about SW? Any contract?
-
I'm quite confident it will not be more than five years.

It has music that wasn't included on the expanded release
Logically, but what?

Here's what I've kept because they are a bit unique.
Star Trek Insurrection OST
What is so special about that one?

I always sell the OSTs even if there is no OST presentation included on the expanded release. Man, last December I was so happy to look at my TLW OST and say "never see you again, sucker!" (The JP OST is cool, but I always hated the second one.)

Is there any identification mark/possibility to make sure that you get the remastered version of CD1 when you do not directly order it from Intrada Records?

Some JWfaners maintain that INSIDE THE MOTHERSHIP is a rerecording, for POPS IN SPACE.
I have been listening to POPS IN SPACE, since 1980, and I also saw the SE:CE3K, in 1980. I can hear no difference between the music on the CD, and the music in the film.
So, is all the music on the Arista album the complete score that was recorded in 1977 and the additional music for the SE was recorded in 1980?
-
This is a bootleg like all the other albums this seller offers! And I once bought one of them inadvertently and learned what is the quality difference between bootleg and official release. I would wait for the latter!

What?
If there is no availability of the SEs any more, a new definitive set will become more successful.

A strategy to make an own expansion more seccessful:

That also means the physical releases are functionally out of print now [...] Not that you can't buy the CDs cheaply, but that new ones are not being manufactured anymore. Well Iam hoping Varese will do the following titles:
-THE FINAL CONFLICT-Complete Edition
-LEVIATHAN
-AIR FORCE ONE
if these make it this year Iam done for my Goldsmith grails this year.
Agree! Varese has got a lot of work to do. Besides I am hoping for:
- Lionheart
- Medicine Man
- Rudy
- Matinée
- Small Soldiers
- Hollow Man

We might get something, we may not. Goldsmith was a prolific composer and his titles tend to be decent sellers. On that basis I would assume there will be at least one release this year, probably more.
It is Jerry Goldsmith, there will be at least 5 releases, which I'm sure of! But what?
I would say Air Force One has a good chance, since Varese released Chain Reaction and Executive Decision before which are also action movies of the mid-90s - similar pattern!
And there is not much to select for the other labels! I mean, which scores are left that are not owned in perpetuity by Varese and that are not already complete (from 1980 till now)?
- Caboblanco
- The Lonely Guy
- Supergirl
- Legend
- The Russia House
- Six Degrees of Separation
- Mulan
- The Mummy
- The Last Castle
Plus, I do not really believe anyone is quite interested in Caboblanco, The Lonely Guy, Six Degrees of Separation or The Last Castle, so it would be:
- Supergirl
- Legend
- The Russia House
- Mulan
- The Mummy
All of them would be highly welcome in my collection!

This thread is supposed to gather information and hints of upcoming Jerry Goldsmith Titles in 2017. Unlike Williams predictable releases this year, I really don't know what to expect from the Goldsmith corner - do you?

What about Jurassic Park?
Great question! Isn't politics and religion a taboo, here?

Hopefully sarcasm? Nevermind driving this discussion!

This is a sign that every little John Williams score will be released completely one day, as far as it is possible. When they make an effort for this, they will make an effort for everything else.
-
I could really not imagine that anyone would care about this score, but they do and it is a good start for 2017!

I would say virtually zero. Williams was personally involved in the last one and authorized the way it was done. I cannot see anyone going to him in this short of time and saying they want to do it again, and do it better.
Home Alone: It was sold out, so they re-issued it. As they have found some additional cues in the mean time, they improved their original program.
Hook: It is sold out, so why not?

Man, all that effort for nothing

Hey, it's also the 35th anniversary of E.T. 35th anniversaries are a little weird, but really any year divisible by 5 is fair game for specialty labels
This is madness! If Disney delays the premiere of Episode IX to 2021 they can produce some special crap every year, because then it is always the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, ... of one of the Star Wars Movies!
Episode 4: 1977 + 5 = 1982
Episode 5: 1980 + 5 = 1985
Episode 6: 1983 + 5 = 1988
Episode 1: 1999 + 5= 2004
Episode 2: 2002 + 5 = 2007
Episode 3: 2005 + 5 = 2010
Episode 7: 2015 + 5 = 2020
Episode 8: 2018 + 5 = 2023
Episode 9: 2021 + 5 = 2026
Every year they can make a release that features one cue never released before!
-
Is there any chance that we could get a definitive Hook this year?
- the 2012 version is sold out
- this is 5 years ago, so one could have found the missing cues
- nowadays Williams would approve a complete chronological score if it is done by MM
- it would be worth it, as there is a lot of alternates and concert version
- fans are clearly demanding for this, so it would sell

I recently made a complete score edit in OST style (just for fun), so I connected around 30 tracks to around 15 tracks (of each score) so that they fit musically and thematically. I changed my edits until they all segued perfectly. After I listened to these edits many times I got totally used to them. Then I asked several friend who were not used to the scores at all to spot the segue - they hardly found any of them.
So all those edited cues are not predestinated to segue, but it is just a matter of whether you are used to certain edits or not. There are theoretically thousands of combinations possible.

Having listened to the La-La Land presentation for weeks now, I have to say that regarding the listening experience the OST of Jurassic Park flows better, because of the relatively short running time of many tracks and the kind some tracks end. But The Lost World is better on the LLL Edition as the tracks are all at least 2 minutes long, besides the OST lacks a bunch of aspects of the score itself.

EDIT:
I just got my album from second market and the Map runs 1:10 though the back says it's 0:59. The second dealers apparently got the revised disc, too.
