  1. Well, I come here to talk about soundtracks and movies in general, not just John Williams. However, it would not be accurate to say that "I'm not more of a fan of John Williams than other composers." Nor would it be true that "I like John Williams only slightly better than other composers." I am by far a bigger fan of John Williams than anyone else; that's just not why I come here.
  2. Like this guy's stuff? I made the mistake of watching all his videos once. I can't listen to any of those themes any more without hearing his words.
  3. See, that's not my definition of afford. I think probably any of us could gather that much money if we had to. We just might not be able to eat for a week. Afford, to me, means that I can buy it and not be at all set back financially.
  4. That is a fantastic word! Thanks for increasing my vocabulary today.
  5. Yeah, that happens to me from time to time too. Can't think of an example offhand though.
  6. Given that condition, it's a no-brainer! Why would I ever not buy a soundtrack if I could afford to? In reality, however, I would wait until I could get it on eBay for a fraction of the price.
  7. I'm quite neutral on the subject. It doesn't bother me in the slightest when polls are created (even the pointless ones); I just may or may not participate.
  8. Well, at least I'm not on the lower than unlisted list.
  9. Wow! I'm somewhat surprised that How to Train Your Dragon is receiving so much praise around here. I agree, of course; I'm just surprised. It's about time Powell starts receiving some recognition. Although, HTTYD is actually pretty far from his best.
  10. Yep. Assuming you add the gift cards the way I described, anyway. I'm not positive how it works if you just apply it to a single purchase. But if you add the gift cards to your balance like this, they will just keep stacking up until you decide to spend them. And after your purchase you will still have the remainder left over in your account.
  11. Yes, it seems to be a random draw every time you search. There are different ways to use the gift card, but here is how I do it. Go to "Your Account" then "Apply a Gift Certificate/Card to Your Account." From there, you will be asked to confirm your password, then you will enter the code given as the gift card. $5 (or whatever ammount you received) will then be credited to your Amazon.com account which can be used for anything including the Amazon marketplace (individual sellers).
  12. I think I need to start checking the main page more often. I'm currently living in northern Kentucky, so I'm only about a half-hour away from Cincinnati. I'm not going to make any guarantee yet, but this is quite tempting. I just might go for one of those Pavilion C-price tickets. Not sure if I could justify paying any higher though.
  13. JW's going to be in Cincy August 7!? How did I miss this? More info please!
  14. Movie Brass by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band is fantastic! I love every arrangement, four of which are of Williams pieces. http://www.amazon.com/Movie-Brass-Grimethorpe-Colliery-Band/dp/B00005Q32P
  15. A friend of mine has one. I haven't had a chance to get over to his house and see it yet, but he says it's pretty awesome.
  16. I've had no such problems. Here's their privacy policy, if you feel like trudging through the legal speak. http://swagbucks.com/?cmd=sb-privacy
  17. I guess the best route for now then would be to jump around the various 30-day trial programs, and hope ffmpeg comes through with something before they all expire.
  18. I would think that if you could enter a key to rip it, you should be able to enter the key to play it.
  19. Hmm, wasn't expecting this problem. Apparently neither VLC, nor Media Player Classic, nor Windows Media Player will play Blu-rays yet. In fact, I can't find any free software that does. What program do you all use?
  20. That's what I've heard. I figure that for now I'll concentrate on acquiring the titles that most fully utilize Blu-ray's potential.
  21. I'm finally getting on the Blu-ray bandwagon. My plan was to get a Blu-ray drive with my new laptop, but I ended up buying a drive separately and installing it myself. After re-selling the DVD-RW drive that came with the computer, I should be able to pull off the Blu-ray upgrade for only about $40. Right now, though, I have a Blu-ray drive installed and no Blu-rays to play. So far, I've ordered The Dark Knight. Hopefully it will arrive soon. I'm thinking I may go for Pirates of the Caribbean next, or maybe I am Legend.
  22. Sorry to hear about that. There's been no such problem on my end. You shouldn't need to use the toolbar, though. You can just search straight from the site. Only 450 actually.
  23. I just received my first CD acquired through this - The Bourne Supremacy.
  24. So the original score was actually recorded then? That means there's hope for a rejected score to pop up!
