  1. This Mimic cover looks like a double LP cover with two panels opening the face. If it's the case, it's gonna be a nice object to own for the fans. I'll pass on this one but I'm very interested in L.A. Confidential
  2. It all depends of what you're hoping for. I have to say I'm not enjoying them much. I prefer his other video game scores. My favorite being Dark void
  3. Yes All the space battles look amazing and are extremely well directed. The Ep.6 one was a marvel! The Ep.11 one was really quick but damn!! So nervous and impactful!!!
  4. I love how this show is not indulging itself in showing off spectacular space battles or exotic environment. It's all straight to the point and so efficient! What a delight!
  5. Sorry but this short is a joke to me. It's like pissing in the face of fans, assuming they'll love any piece of crumb you throw at them. What the hell was that? It could very well be a skilled fan doodle animation put on TikTok. I really wish Ghibli would stay away from Disney. Everything the Mouse touches turns to empty corporate sh..t Sorry for the rant but this thing pissed me off.
  6. Sorry for the "A hole" that was a little extreme. I enjoyed all of this very much.
  7. Damn!!! This is probably my favorite episode so far!! I absolutely love Paul Verhoeven!!! His honesty, his "no BS" attitude and lucidity about his own work is admirable and so enjoyable!! And his stories are just delicious treats. Goldsmith and he really found each other. I would have loved to see (hear) what Jerry would have produced for Starship Troopers if his A hole of agent didn't played that nasty trick on him and Paul. But I'm still happy we got Basil's masterpiece for it too. Thank you thank you thank you for offering us such a great episode, and piece of Movie score History!
  8. Since Intrada announced the long awaited release of Conan the Destroyer, and I had the honor to have my work used for their B side cover, I guess it's a good time to post all my Conan related covers. And the variations for the Tadlow Re-Recording series
  9. Let's be clear, I'm also a fan of that type of epic and over dramatic music (JW is up there in my top 3, right next to Jerry goldsmith). What I meant is some scenes and actions are sometimes directed and edited in a way that doesn't require the score to add another layer of intensity. It would result in a lack of subtlety. I would compare this with someone overacting. it defeats the purpose. And this show definitely works better with a subdued score in my opinion.
  10. Thanks for demonstrating (at least to me) that they made the right choice going for Nicholas Britell or under mixing the music. Not that this theme is bad, but this is everything I can't stand anymore in these Disney productions. When they over score and try to tell the audience what they should feel. I'm glad they realized they had no need to over dramatize the situation and left the action and acting carry that emotion. It's much more impactful that way if you ask me.
  11. Nope! I don't know if I'll ever tackle this collection to be honest. I love some of these scores but not the whole bunch and not enough to commit to a Disney series. I'm sorry A couple Maurice Jarre covers
  12. Please, let there be no Jedi or light saber in this show. This is one of the main reasons I'm enjoying it.
  13. McNeely for me. I keep going back to Shadows of the empire. Such a fantastic score! Halfway between classical and score music. I'd love for some label to release a re-recording of this. The reverb on the original always bugged me a little.
  14. I'd like to mention the unfairly ignored anime show Michiko & Hatchin. Which was the directorial debut of Sayo Yamamoto (who also directed the very popular Yuri on Ice). The whole team for this show is composed of most of the people who made Cowboy Bebop. They even had Shinichiro Watanabe as Music producer They hired the Brasilian DJ Kassin to produce the music. I encourage everyone to check this show out. it's one of the best anime I've ever watched. With very mature character writing and masterfully directed.
  15. You can pre-order it here. I can't wait to get my copy. https://milan-records.myshopify.com/collections/featured-releases/products/preorder-cowboy-bebop-soundtrack-from-the-netflix-original-series-2x-lp Kanno's Music is the only good thing about the Netflix Live action reboot. The Japanese edition of the original score has a few extra tracks compared to the American release too. https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/SRML-1037 I own the blu-ray box of the anime show. I think I've watched it 3 or 4 times since it aired. I love this show. it's such a love letter to Cinema and genres. The first episode not being that good, it takes some effort to get into. I have all the released albums and cd sets that exist I think. The 5CD collector box is a real gem, loaded with alternate and unreleased tracks.
  16. It is in my opinion, the best thing Star Wars that's ever been made after the original trilogy. It's not saying this show is amazing but it is a good show. And yes, finally the empire is getting some flesh and brain. I'm so enjoying the slow burn approach! I agree with you @Arpy about the music being pretty anonymous. But it's perfectly doing its job in the show. And the lack of epic and romantic themes doesn't really bother me. Maybe because Disney succeeded so well in destroying the franchise that, apart for the classic trilogy and the prelogy scores (the only good thing in that second cycle IMO), I don't really enjoy Sir Williams and the other composers' works for what followed.
  17. To go along with the announcement of the Quartet Records 2LP album of Young Sherlock Holmes, here are two variations on the cover
  18. two covers for The Dark Crystal expanded edition. One for the complete score, the other for the original soundtrack album. I hope we don't have to wait for Sir Trevor Jones to pass before we get a proper complete edition of his masterpiece...
