  4. Oh I don’t think any of John’s daily scribblings are going to Julliard, just the film scores and concert works. I believe he’s way too modest to toss them a bunch of scratchwork and half-finished ideas like “Here ya go, plebs!”
  5. Yup yup! Or expressing his opinions about a Star Wars spin-off score. I remember folks being aghast and simply unbelieving that Williams would comment on or even suggest he didn’t like it because that wouldn’t be “nice.” Whether it happened or not I don’t know, but I do know he’s expressed displeasure in the past when composers reharmonize his themes. He’s got strong opinions I’m sure, you just won’t see them in press reels or PR interviews
  6. John has been described as “an iron fist in a velvet glove”, I’ve no doubt that he’s absolutely calling the shots and the musician in question was completely removed. There’s too much money and too little time to mess around. Might be ruthless but it’s the movies, baby! 😎 I think a lot of people have this image of the kindly old grandfather, but he’s survived in this business for nearly seven decades for a reason.
  7. Indeed. There’s a video called “Does John Williams revise his scores?” where they talk about how he’ll go to JoAnn Kane’s after the movie is completed and see what the players wrote into their parts. Don also talks about how JW structures his days here:
  8. I was born in 1986, the same year Phantom of the Opera premiered in the West End. I first saw it 16 years later in 2002, which is also when Attack of the Clones was released. Now, 17 years later, I will witness Johnny’s final score for a Star War, and it features both the Phantom theme and the Kamino motif.
  9. Nah he just had ten cups of coffee so he can keep up with JJ’s revisions
  10. Today’s JW concerts need more Yankee Doodle Dandy!
