  1. Yeeeaahh...I'm gonna have to go ahead and, uh, disagree with you on that... It is definitely a much more interesting and enjoyable score than Transformers, but it's not really one of my favorites. There are much worse things you could listen to, though. Out of the two Jablonsky scores I've heard, Steamboy is easily the better one. Oh definitely more interesting than Transformers. And much more interesting than Silvestri in general...
  2. You should not bash him that much, the guy can compose if he really wants. Steamboy is one example, one of my big favourites. It is like Rocketeer's little brother.
  3. Silvestri perhaps? I can't think of Silvestri score that would go with wine. Eddie's Theme (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) Chez Ernie (Mousehunt) I can think of drinking warm water and perhaps sucking that cellophane... mmm... cellophane.
  4. I watched 1492 - Conquest of Paradise, starring Gérard Depardieu's nose. The music is terrific, Vangelis quality naturellement
  5. By the way I bought the Krull DVD (inexpensive). It almost destroyed my Krull listening athmosphere. I thought the film would be very good judging by the music. Do not watch it, heed my words.
  6. I would love to see a Varese reprint of Conti's supreme Masters of the Universe.
  7. Let us hope thy prediction shall be accurate, let us all hope.
  8. I give my thanks to all of you, my quest for Mahler has more direction now. Why not eighth? I am still waiting for my chance to see and hear that behemoth of symphonies.
  9. Dylan was pure excrement in Gods & Generals. Just heed my advice not to listen to that song.
  10. Wait a minute, we have at least one big Bob Dylan fan here, if I recollect correctly.
  11. Yeah almost all can agree that JW would have been the right choice.
  12. Particularly War of the Worlds is disgrace amongst the repertoire of Spielberg. Well maybe I was too harsh with Jaws, it is a good film.
  13. Amistad should have won, and Horner's Titanic is horrible, I cannot dislike it more. But sadly we have seen that the people who vote are usually wrong.
  14. Blade Runner is one of the best film ever made (maybe the best), the music makes it even better.
  15. because its really not one of Spielbergs best films, In the 2000's Catch Me If You Can and War of the Worlds are better. In the 1990's Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List and Jurassic Park are better, even the Lost World is no worse. In the 80's, the Last Crusade, Empire of the Sun, Temple of Doom, E.T. The Extra-Terrestiral, and Raiders of the Lost Ark are better. The 70's Close Encounters and Jaws. Steven has made a few more than one or two better films Catch Me If You Can, War of the Worlds, Saving Private Ryan, Empire of th Sun, E.T. and Jaws are not better than Amistad. Other films in that list are on a par however.
  16. I have been waiting for this release for so long a time... I have made sure that every visitor can see it easily. It was worth it. Too bad the origami and car are not metallic...
  17. I got it finally! I thought it would be too late to buy it. I chose the Blu-Ray format (I guess the right decision), but I cannot view it because I have no Blu-Ray player (yet)! So, anyone else who has it?
  18. It is exciting to know that two of my favourite composers Mahler and Sibelius have met each other and spoken about the composition of a symphony!
  19. The film is also one of the best Spielberg film. Hard to believe why it did not success.
  20. I must say Amistad is the John Williams score I become most connected whilst listening, it possesses huge emotional charge. For example Middle Passage is a masterpiece that makes me very nervous, it is John Williams at his finest and amazing trumpet americana of the John Quincy Adams- scenes makes the other half of the score. But when the greatest works of his are discussed, Amistad is usually absent somehow. Although I surmise there is no hostility against this score, but surely some who cherish it as one of his best, or am I wrong about this matter?
  21. I think Jerry's main theme for First Contact is one of the most memorable music he has composed, at least to me. It should be put to the third place after ST:TMP and Wrath of Khan.
  22. I must add Ryan Shore (Howard Shore's nephew), I cannot but listen to his Rex Steele: Nazi Smasher- score every now and then. One of the freshest score I have listened to some time. He has some mp3s in his official homepage. PS. He really is younger than most composers mentioned here. :-)
  23. I am considering the boxed set of Mahler's symphonies by Deutsche Grammophon... extremely expensive set. Are there any realistic alternatives to this? I seriously doubt because the conductor is Leonard Bernstein.
