  1. I just saw "Earth" yesterday (an edited, shorter Disney version of the popular BBC miniseries "Planet Earth") and liked it very much, although I wish they would have showed a bit more from the series (nothing from my favorite episode "Caves" gets shown in the film at all, which I thought was a serious misstep) instead of focusing on some other things for too long (the polar bears get way too much screen time, such as the elephants). However it was a good "general" presentation of what the series is like. One thing, actually, that I think almost topped the series though was the music, scored again by George Fenton. Unlike the television version, you can tell he was able to work with a bigger orchestra here, and the performances show a great improvement with their bold statements. The action sequences also sound faster and scarier. He uses what sounds like the same themes from the television version, though a bit different. I MUST get this version he did for the movie! Does anyone agree? Unfortunately, I do not see it listed on Amazon.com or on Disney's site. Only the 2CD soundtrack for the television series "Planet Earth" version. Anyone know of any details of when this comes out or if it will at all?
  2. I listened to parts of this score a week ago and when I did I wanted to finally get the exclusive Target edition with the bonus track "On The Conveyorbelt", for that was actually the track I always wanted on the regular CD! Now I listened to the whole thing and I actually like it a lot better than I used to. The inclusion of that track helped. It's one of my favorites for some odd reason. Does anyone know where the name for the bonus track "On The Conveyorbelt" came from? I mean obviously it's named for the scene it goes with, but I noticed the packaging does not list the name of the bonus track anywhere.
  3. Do you consider the "Ewok Celebration" a non-score cue? It's impossible for it to be a non-score cue, at least on the film version, because those certainly aren't ewoks singing. I put the SE Finale without the end credits just before the Gerhardt cues. Exactly. And it is not even source music.
  4. Do you consider the "Ewok Celebration" a non-score cue?
  5. I just got this Twlight Zone release in the mail today! Very special thanks to a certain forum member getting it for me. Anyway... lol. The soundtrack and it's presentation is fantastic! Sound quality is superb and it really is, as advertised, the complete score including unused music, album edits, and the two songs made for the film. The one thing almost better than the music itself is the incredible booklet that comes with it. It has a nice design with a great amount of photos and delves not only into the behind-the-scenes of the score in detail (with quotes and essays from various people), but the actual movie itself. This in itself is great since the DVD release had NO bonus features except for a theatrical trailer, and if anyone knows about the film, it had a troubled production due to a fatal plane crash incident with Vic Morrow (which does get mentioned in the booklet).. A lot of the behind-the-scenes info mentioned in the booklet I never knew about (for example, the original stories Spielberg was going to adapt before settling with "Kick The Can", the original concept of the movie being just one story instead of 4, the original intended order of the segments, deleted scenes, etc). So for those who are fans of the movie itself, this booklet alone is reason to get the soundtrack. The only thing I didn't really like in this release was the fact that near the end of the final track for "Kick The Can" cues was a voiceover of the Scathman Crothers character doing this short little singing bit over the music, like in the movie. It kind of goes with the music but wasn't really necessary and kind of breaks the flow, I think. Luckily this is remedied in the Album edit, which has the same piece of music but without the voiceover.
  6. I didn't say I thought that now, I said I thought that 12 years ago when I made my cassette tape complete score edits I haven't revisited OT stuff in a looong time What?! If you haven't revisited the OT in a "loooong time" then why oh why are you giving me information and advice?! You know... you should just stick with the Indiana Jones trilogy, you hack! ... oh I'm just kidding! I'm just going to decide myself on this one. Apparently Paleo told me that Boston Pops did a rendition of the Jabba the Hutt concert version as well. Have to give that a listen, too. And since we are on the subject of ROTJ, how many of you include the "Special Edition" tracks on your edit? Like the SE version of the Finale (replacing the nostalgic and wonderful Ewok Celebration- how could they!) and the ever-painful "Jedi Rocks", which is far worse than Lapti Nek.
  7. Of course, I actually have the Sony Williams conducts Williams Star Wars CD that features the Jabba the Hutt track! lol. I totally forgot about that recording of it. I also was able to now hear the Gerhardt version, and it sounds good, too. But you think the Sony CD has the better version? Hmm... this will be hard to decide for me. I don't really want to include both. I guess it's just a matter of preference. I also got to listen to the Gerhardt Ewok Celebration track. It's quite a bit different in style than the film or alternate JW versions, but it's also quite unique and like it! I'll definitely include this one on my set at least. I'm surprised no other rerecording has attempted this version.
  8. I am soon going to make my own edit of RETURN OF THE JEDI based closely on the wonderful list provided on the first page of this thread. I have a question, however. I heard that the 1989 re-recording CD by Charles Gerhardt had a couple interesting tracks. One was apparently the only recording of the concert version of "Jabba The Hutt". The other is apparently a instrumental version of the "Ewok Celebration" music. I have never heard this re-recording CD with these cues, and I was wondering if they were worthy additions to a RETURN OF THE JEDI set edit, if only as bonus tracks. Or do people generally dismiss them since they aren't conducted by Williams?
  9. Really? How do you know they cracked their vaults? Just wondering. And you're right... we probably won't ever see it as an isolated score. Hell, when was the last time they did an isolated score for a DVD? They haven't done those in a long, long time. I guess they were never a good selling point for the "general" buyer.
  10. It's a boxed set for about 25 dollars on amazon.com that has both the Jurassic Park and Lost World DVDs *and* their respective soundtracks (plus other things apparently, like a film cell). For 25 dollars it's a pretty great deal for all four of those things plus the cool box. So in reality, you are getting the 2 soundtracks for only about 13 dollars. And yes, The Lost World soundtrack in this box does come in a regular jewel case. The covers for the soundtracks in this set look just like the DVD covers do, but they still come with the Spielberg note inside. Well except for The Lost World, which he never noted. Does anyone still find that odd?
  11. **Chrono Order and Missing Cues List of HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS** REVISED The chronological order of the Intrada CD: 01- 01. Main Title 02- 02. Strange Neighbors 03- 06. Test Run 04- 03. Shrunk 05- 04. A New World 06- 11. The Machine Works 07- 09. Watering The Grass 08- 10. Ant Rodeo 09- 07. Flying Szalinsky 10- 08. Night Time 11- 05. Scorpion Attack 12- 12. Lawn Mower 13- 13. Test Run 04- *The Baseball 05- *The Shrinking Starts 06- *Ron and Nick 07- 03. Shrunk 08- *A New World (first 35 seconds) mix onto 04. A New World 09- *Quark to the Rescue 10- *Bees! 11- 11. The Machine Works 12- 09. Watering The Grass 13- 10. Ant Rodeo 14- 07. Flying Szalinsky 15- *A New Pet 16- 08. Night Time 17- 05. Scorpion Attack 18- 12. Lawn Mower 19- 13. Eaten Alive 20- 14. Big Russ Volunteers 21- 15. Thanksgiving Dinner The Missing Cues: (the following 3 cues are no more than 30 seconds long) *The Baseball- the cue that plays when the next door neighbor kid hits the ball into the attic, setting off the shrink machine *The Shrinking Starts- the cue where I believe the shrink machine shrinks the furniture *Ron and Nick- the cue where the machine shrinks Ron and Nick *A New World (first 35 seconds)- the opening 35 seconds of this Intrada track are for some reason snipped off. *Quark to the Rescue- the cue where the kids are in the backyard whistling for their dog to come to them and where they climb the flower and Nick falls in it *Bees!- the cue when the two kids fall on the bee as it flies around all over the yard *A New Pet- I believe this cue is after they find the giant cigarette and claim Anty as their new pet
  12. Amended Cue List & Missing Cues! Well, seems I wasn’t 100% right on my cue list as some have pointed out. I finally recieved the Intrada CD and it appears this is what the real deal is. Good and bad. First here is what really is missing from Intrada: (the following 3 cues are no more than 30 seconds long) *The Baseball- the cue that plays when the next door neighbor kid hits the ball into the attic, setting off the shrink machine *The Shrinking Starts- the cue where I believe the shrink machine shrinks the furniture *Ron and Nick- the cue where the machine shrinks Ron and Nick *A New World (first 35 seconds)- the opening 35 seconds of this Intrada track are for some reason snipped off. *Quark to the Rescue- the cue where the kids are in the backyard whistling for their dog to come to them and where they climb the flower and Nick falls in it *Bees!- the cue when the two kids fall on the bee as it flies around all over the yard *A New Pet- I believe this cue is after they find the giant cigarette and claim Anty as their new pet Basically there are two changes to the above list from before. As I noticed from the track times at Intrada before the CD had started shipping, A New World is shorter than the film version/bootleg cue by about 35 seconds. It cuts off the very beginning of the cue. Why? I have no idea… it seems pretty random for them to do it. Luckily, for those who have the bootleg track for this, it will be pretty easy to use the bootleg’s opening and mix it to attach to the Intrada track. Or if you don’t care about Intrada’s better sounding quality for the track you could just use the entire bootleg track, but I would do the former. Still, I find this odd and a little irritating that they cut off 35 seconds for basically no reason at all. But probably only die-hard fans of the score, like me, will miss it and seek out a fix. The other change to the above list is actually good. You no longer need to have the bootleg track Ant Safari, for it is added to the end of the Intrada track Flying Szalinsky, as someone already pointed out. Although good, for Ant Safari was a nice short cue, it is also weird to me that they included it at the end of the track. It does make the cue have two contrasting sides: crazy jazz to peaceful western sound. Chronologically it does belong right after it, so to me there really is no need to split the cue up, but some may say otherwise. We’re still awfully lucky though. There isn’t much work to be done to make this score complete with the Intrada CD and bootleg. Compared to all the Indiana Jones nonsense, the entire time and work spent to fix it all up would be used to fix just one track on Indy! lol. You only really need to edit one track and the rest of the unreleased cues you just plop them in the order they go with the rest. The sound quality on the Intrada CD for the most part rivals any of the bootlegs I have heard. It’s usually louder and crisper and you can pick out details more. There were a few tracks however where I didn’t like the mixing choices as much. For example, the Main Title and Lawn Mower. I may actually prefer the bootleg’s mixing in those cases, but the sound quality itself still rivals. The chronological order of the Intrada CD remains the same: 01- 01. Eaten Alive 14- 14. Big Russ Volunteers 15- 15. Thanksgiving Dinner But the complete cue list now looks like this: 01- 01. Main Title 02- 02. Strange Neighbors 03- 06. Thanksgiving Dinner If anyone were interested in any assistance with the missing music, it would be wise to PM me.
  13. Hahah, I so called that... Oh, whatever, jerk! :P
  14. When did you order it? I only ordered it the day after they announced it. Still havent gotten a call back. BS
  15. So am I! They still haven't even charged me for it! I even called them and all I got was a voicemail! They need to keep people more informed what is going on with their orders. Did you order from Intrada as well?
  16. It's a shame there are 2 pages missing. Although remarkable that only 2 are missing out of all of them. I wonder if we will ever see what the two missing pages contain. The search for the holy grail continues!
  17. Psst... I found an HTML version someone put up. They transcribed the PDF file to HTML for easier reading. You can see it below: http://moedred.livejournal.com/2009/03/04/
  18. Oh, I see. You already received a shipping confirmation? Damn, I haven't yet. But I did order it the 2nd day after the announcement. I bet they go in order of who ordered first, if you did order before me. I just don't want any... mishaps. lol. I can just picture something happening like "yeah for some reason your order didn't go through and... well they are all sold out now, so you are out of luck!" lol. You never know.
  19. Does anyone know how Intrada works with their service? I still haven't been charged for my transaction. Do they just not charge until they ship?
  20. It's better than not having anything at all. I think it's quite good considering. Well of course I'd rather have it in the current quality it is in than not at all. But I'm sure we'd both agree that the first score deserves a better sounding quality release, either in bootleg form or official.
  21. Man, what a great week! First the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids score gets an official release from Intrada and now there are complete boots of Back to the Future 2 and 3! And they sound great! Woo hoo! Here's hoping for a official release of these! But one question remains... Where the hell is the complete bootleg for Back to the Future?! Or official release for that matter! That old bootleg needs to be put in the grave it came from! GAH!
  22. Crap, I forgot about that! I really don't see how they would, they don't really lend to transition themselves. And none transition on the bootleg. So... here's hoping there is none of that!
  23. See... "you listen to me, Doc Jones, you live longer!" And I always told people "if they officially release a score that I have a bootleg of that I really like, I will buy the official release". So for that I knew I had to buy it myself. By the way, does anyone know how quick Intrada is to ship their products? I ask because there was only one speed of shipping you can get to deliver to the US (and other locations). I've never ordered from them before. Btw, richuk, and anyone else, someone on the Filmtracks board claimed there is one other small bit of unreleased music. It's right before the part where the sprinklers go off when the kids are split up and walking around. It's like 40 seconds long. I watched the film to see, and I swear it is just an edited statement from "A New World". I don't believe it is on the bootleg, although he claimed it preceded the Sprinklers bootleg track (doesn't on mine). What do you think? Either way it isn't anything I am going to be scrambling trying to get.
