  1. The Hook sessions has been out for many years prior to the LLL release. But it sounds atrocious, just like Last Crusade bootleg. Anyway, LLL has kept the book opened for 3 years straight (2016 with JP, 2017 with ET and CE3K and this year, the one officialy regarded as one for the books). I'm sure they'll keep it opened.
  2. I went to a screening of the 40th anniversary last week. The music indeed sounded terrific, but I couldn't tell how it compares to the blue box and it woud be suggestive to say it sounded better than the 2011 blu-ray box. I bought the new 4K blu-ray so I could compare, but it won't arrive anytime soon. The blue box used a transfer made by Warner in 2000 for the first DVD release of STM. For the 40th anniversary, either they unearthed superior elements or they retransfered the same elements and worked on them with better care. The latter is what happened to Jaws with superb results.
  3. Allow me to bump this thread, but not because of the music. By coincidence, I found out today that the very first home video release of Jaws, and the very first Discovision ever (later renamed to Laserdisc) was released exactly 40 years ago today, on December 11th 1978. When I look at it, it's really intriguing to think that the CD was yet to be invented, VHS and Betamax were barely on the market, and yet there it was, an optical disc read by a laser beam. It's interesting to hold in my hands such an advanced peace of technology that is even older than I am, and yet its basic characteristics are still used today in storare mediums. Happy 40th anniversary, you shinny "little" discs. 😁🎂
  4. I can imagine. Watching it in 70mm and in 6-track must have been quite an experience.
  5. I'm kind of lost about how many podcasts with MM interview we had in the last couple of months. There are these two here and there is another one in 3 parts, right? And there's one on Dracula too, I think. Please, help. 😀
  6. It's almost like a religious experience. I did caught Jaws, E.T. and RotLA on the big screen too, but it was random screenings, not a specific anniversary celebration, while CE3K was the 40th anniversary and JP was the 25th anniversary (the 20th anniversary didn't reach my planet). Dunno if SL-25th will reach my planet...
  7. Just got back from a 40th anniversary screening of Superman The Movie. Damn, how good the music sounded blasting through the speakers. Moviegoers from 70's should appreciate how lucky they were.
  8. OMG... mIRC! 😍 How many teen nights on weekends I spent there between from 97 to 99. Then came Napster, ICQ... and more and more nights without any sleep. Golden age, perfect times. I only had 3 JW CDs (JP, Spielberg/Williams Collaboration and Phantom Menace), the SW vinyls and RotLA 2 vinyls set. The rest was all mp3... from Napster.
  9. I first came to JWFan in 2000 (not the decade, but the year 2000) because of a link to two unreleased tracks from ToD. I went nuts almost. I downloaded it with my dial-up modem at about 3,5kbps. Took forever, of course. I finally opened the mp3 files on Winamp (which I still use) AND... it was a crummy VHS rip with a failed attempt to extract the surround channel. What a disappointment! I promissed never to come back. Yet, here I am. But I didn't join the forum until 2008, when the Indy box was announced... and when a leaked version, a "mock up" of RotLA was made availabe here.
  10. Few years ago I started to save most of those links offline, just in case. Nice to see them all packed together. Seems like I missed a few. Thanks, Jay! Btw, link of Mr. Chips part 1 is not working.
  11. Are they? I dunno. Anyway, let's not altercate over alternates... 😊
  12. I think SL won't sound substantially (if anything at all) different from the 93 release. We've learned that from SPR. But it's ok because it sounds great anyway, and all the music will be there (except source music and alternates). I'm really curious about how the 4K restoration will look since no B&W film was ever released on Dolby Vision or any other HDR format.
  13. Didn't I read somewhere that the next Indy will be a girl? So, they should release the all "Indy boy" assets as soon as possible (C&C music on a bog box like HP, 4K films restorations) to give us enough time to get used to a "Indiana Johansson". OR... we'll really have to wait for Raiders to turn 40.
  14. Maybe Disney will be up their neck with their new streaming service, which is due in 2019, and say "Ahh, we don't have time for these old scores. Let's LLL take care of them and see the big $$$ from those fans at that forum".
  15. I guess the "year for the books" now finally makes justice. I hope 2019 will be as well. 🤩
  16. Yeah... both the 2013 and 2016 releases got us all by surprise. JP is definitely full of surprises. In 2013 I was like "oooh" because it simply came out of nowhere. Just like that, it was ready for download and in 2016 I was "wooow" because the 2013 release was just there, practically newly released, still around.
  17. 8 pages in less than one full day... is this the fastest growing thread in JWFan history?
  18. Cool. I think Apollo 13 OST also had that "Ultimate Masterdisc". Does it sound any different than the regular OST? Here's the gold 1996 E.T.. The sound is identical, and the standard CD way cooler. I thought I read "Music Composed and Concocted by John Williams and Alan Silvestri".
  19. It sure sounded like. Like the website name, it's indeed elusive. But I never heard of a "24k gold Ultimate Masterdisc" version.
