  1. 'The Blue Planet' on the album of the same name by George Fenton. The actual underscore comes nowhere near the main title music, which is absolutely gorgeous.
  2. I got mine yesterday... so far I only had time to listen to the first 6 or 7 cues, but it really is a great album (what is that "Seaborn Legend" track? Unused music?). So many good CDs, all arriving together... so typical
  3. So, finally got my CD too... did anyone else feel reminded of the Indiana Jones box? I mean, plenty of pretty pics, almost no text? Anyway, I like the score... and am glad I never bought the OST (nor do I think these subtle differences mentioned above would make me feel different about this). I'm still not quite sure about the main theme, but the music overall is very enjoyable.
  4. Good to know... my older orders all say 'shipped', so I wasn't sure... thanks, guys.
  5. Actually, the Varese website lists my order as 'in process'... I ordered 06.01! Grr
  6. I never received a shipping confirmation... hope it arrives soon nevertheless... too bad that also means there's no tracking...
  7. Well, that would be cheap of them... really
  8. So, I ordered... glad I didn't buy the original CD now Does anyone know why Varese makes a big announcement that the first CD costs 4.50 for shipping, but then they charge $5.45? Do they actually count this as two CDs???
  9. Good movie, no doubt, but also one of the most depressing things I've ever watched. Nothing for suicidal persons...
  10. I got the original CD from ebay... didn't even pay much... So for me it depends on whether there is any worthwhile new stuff on it. Great soundtrack, though
  11. ...and I agree. I'm actually a bit disappointed. The mix has a very low volume, but even so the sound quality falters every time it gets louder or more complex. Ruins one of my favorite moments (the choir in 'hot tamale'). It's overall not horrible, but disappointingly noticeable. As Scallenger said, Goonies (and the excellent Robocop) sound a lot better. Also, this is one score where I would really have liked to have a nice track analysis, telling me things like why hot tamale sounds not at all like in the movie (an alternate? an edit?), etc. etc. La La Land is great, but has done better jobs.
  12. Just got my Independence Day CD (and autograph...).... So I'll be listening to music for the next couple of hours
  13. Just received a mail confirming that "Poseidon Adventure" and "ID4" have been shipped... yay!
  14. Wow, the German language in this summary could hardly sound more sophisticated... I doubt that the book is addressed to the general public... Have fun with google translate
  15. I would love to have a copy of "the core". It's Young's score I like best (amazing, considering the movie ), and it's a pity it was only distributed that way. I can only say "lucky you" to the ones who got it for free, and hope it will be made available some time soon for the rest of us.
  16. Oh great, thanks a lot. Missed that indeed. Guess I will get a reimbursement then. Almost wrote an email ;-)
  17. Well, I'm #23599. Guess I was lucky there. The site was so messed up though that I didn't check out Poseidon properly, so that the $5 discount didn't apply... And they've already taken the money out of my account. Does anyone know whether there's a way to get that money back? Strange promotion practices...
  18. I agree to everything you said. Cutthroat Island was actually the first blu ray I bought. Sure, not great, but a lot of fun. And I love the score.
  19. Get the blu ray; it's the theatrical version. I don't miss the special edition either.
  20. How is Legend oddly sequenced on the expanded album? It follows the film cue by cue, doesn't it? And it includes the end titles, as mentioned above.
  21. And the daily update: still no CD According to tracking information, it was out for delivery yesterday; no update till then. In other words: probably "lost". How come that they always get away with "losing" packages, damaging packages, needing more time than the Pony Express, etc., etc.? That's it, I don't order anything to my DC address any more.
  22. Argh, still no Goonies. Thank you so much, USPS. And since Jason got his, I should have it by now too. :-(
  23. Yes, got the confirmation quite some time ago... Don't know why it's still not here. At least the CD is still available. But nevertheless, I'm so impatient.
