  1. Oh, BTW. HPFan Welcome. Anthony
  2. I agree. Insanity is just a state of mind. Anthony
  3. LOL Of course! Don't you remember the hula dance in drag? 8O Anthony
  4. That's typecasting!! Neil Well, if the ascot fits . . . Anthony - who would like to see Jim Broadbent (of Moulin Rouge) playing Dr. Bombay.
  5. How about "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables for Innocence as a Child? There is a castle on a cloud I like to go there in my sleep Aren't any floors for me to sweep Not in my castle on a cloud. There is a room that's full of toys There are a hundred boys and girls Nobody shouts or talks too loud Not in my castle on a cloud There is a lady all in white Holds me and sings a lullaby She's nice to see And she's soft to touch She says: "Cosette I love you very much" I know a place where no one's lost I know a place where no one cries Crying at all is not allowed Not in my castle on a cloud. Anthony
  6. As much as I love most of JW's music, there are few individual works that get me as exited as when I hear music from The Cowboys. It probably stems from the fact that is was performing "The Cowboys Overture" in high school that began to change me from somone who enjoyed JW's music in a general sense into a JW Fan. Anthony - who has a sudden urge to listen to The Cowboys score.
  7. Why do I feel like we've all just been lectured by George Lucas? LOL Anthony
  8. Out of curiosity, I've checked a couple of CD stores to see which version they had. Both stores still had the 17 track version on the shelf. Anthony
  9. But that's just silly. TPM does exist and AOTC can and should be compared to it. A similar argument would be to say that if the Original Trilogy didn't exist, there would be nothing to complain about concerning the prequels. But the prequels can be held up against not just the Originals, but good film making in general, and we can say the whole process of making the prequels was done poorly. Anthony
  10. LOL I love this movie. I saw it for the first time one night last December before going to work. The next night I watched Mommie Dearest; the following night was The World According to Garp. Three funny movies. If I could have continued the chain, the next two nights would have been To Wong Fu, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Talk about guilty pleasures. Anthony
  11. I'd definitely put Moulin Rouge and A.I. on the list. Anthony - who's sure there are others, but can't think of them right now.
  12. One of my favorite moments comes when I'm riding my bike home from work and "Adventure on Earth" cues up. It gives me just the pick-up I need after a long day. Anthony - who has music playing almost constantly, and gets these moments quite frequently
  13. Hmmm. Consider this, I must. Thanks, Neil Anthony
  14. I think that William Ross went into this project knowing full well that no matter how much he contributed, no matter what he put in it, this would always be a John William score. In regards to when I plan on buying the DVD: I work for a retail store, and have immediate access to them (not to mention a 10% employee discount). Since 1997, most of my CD and DVD purchases have been on the day of release. Anthony
  15. And this is why I love this place. LOL Anthony
  16. Oh, I wasn't trying to speculate as to why it wasn't nominated, I was just trying to answer Mr. Breathmask's question as to which themes had been previously written. Personally, I don't understand why that would make the score ineligible, seeing as how the original musical was never completed. Anthony, hoping Jeff is not in as much trouble as he fears
  17. Most of the the themes from Hook originated in a musical of Peter Pan that Williams wrote for Spielberg years before the movie, that eventaully fell through. Two songs survived intact ("We Don't Wanna Grow Up" and "When You're Alone"). Anthony
  18. That vomit bean made me re-examine the words "Natural Flavors" LOL
  19. I learned that LK is actually a retelling of Shakespeare's Hamlet. King killed by brother for the crown. The King's son must dethrone his uncle and reclaim his place. Ray, you might also want to check out either the original cast recording or soundtrack for Little Shop of Horrors. The music is by Alan Menken (who composed Little Mermaid, B + B, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Hercules and Hunchback) with lyrics by Howard Ashman (ditto Little Mermaid, B + B and Aladdin). Anthony - who thinks there's nothing wrong with most Disney films.
  20. It wasn't so much the "plot" itself that was bothersome but those horrible puns that C3PO kept spouting. "Oh, what a drag!" -- the worst line from a Star Wars film. EVER! Anthony
  21. There is such a huge difference between saying "he sucks" and "I don't like his work". The way I look at things is King, Williams, Lucas, Zimmer, Tolkien (and any number of other artists, even Julia Roberts) don't suck. If they were bad at what they did, they wouldn't be working in their respective fields. If King couldn't write, he wouldn't be publishing. If Horner couldn't compose, directors wouldn't hire him to score their movies. Let's take Tolkien as a personal example. I have yet to get more than thirty or forty pages into the Lord of the Rings. That's partly because as an English Major, I have too much school reading and writing to have much time for recreational reading, but it also is partly because I find Tolkien to be a very dense and difficult read. Does that mean I can go off and declare "Tolkien Sucks!"? No. He is simply an artist who is good at what he does, but works outside of my particular tastes. Will I ever finish reading LOTR? Most certainly. Will I enjoy it? I hope so. Will it become something I'll read over and over again, like The Stand or Harry Potter? Probably not, but I won't know until I've finished it. To declare that an artist "sucks" probably has more to do with personal jealousy of genuine talent that anything else. Anthony - amazed at the discussion and debate his topic has started
  22. Anthony - who wonders if Lucas won't be remaking Star Wars in 2 or 3 years LOL
  23. Most of the marketing tie-ins are pretty ridiculous, but my absolute favorite are the Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans put out by Jelly Belly. My favorite flavor is "Grass", and I once had the misfortune to mistake a vomit-flavored bean for Tutti-Frutti. Anthony
