  1. Am i the only on who likes his views and desings of the Star Wars "universe" a lot better than Doug Chiang. Why Wasn't he hired for the current trilogy. K.M.Who just loves his Mc Quarrie book "Illustrated guide to the Star Wars Universe" K.K.M.Who would like to see Alderaan in Ep3,making it's destruction in Ep4 more meaningfull.
  2. Well,i still say AOTC is behind TPM at this point because thefilm has less universal appeal But i can hear Lucas saying to himself on AOTC: "Legions of my loyal fans will see it over and over again...I'm afraid it will stay in theaters and make money for quite a long time..." K.M.
  3. Lucas is a control freak,he does everything himself anyways.I think he hired Mc Callum as a token because it gives him an income tax break or some reason like that. ...and to toss his salad. K.M.
  4. the wole point of the movie was making those love scenes believable, not "kinda funny",especially not in those key moments.Of courses they failed miserably on all levels, but the music there didn't help either. One of my non soundtrack lover friends even noticed about the music cutting off abruptly.Even though I explained it was intended,he thought the music was edited or something. K.M.
  5. sorry,Morn is right.ESB..evey single track is a mastepiece. In Star Wars, most of the incidental music inside the Death Star sequences is dull..I usually skip the middle part of the Star Wars score. k.m.
  6. Hmmm,Shadow of the Empire is a good album to throw in the faces of classical purists who will dismiss it as a film score and not "real" music, then tell them is was inspired by a book. k.m.
  7. answer:No.But the "theme" can be heard by a fuller orchestra and Cello(again by Yo-Yo Ma)in the Track "Regaining a Son" on the c.d. of 7 Years in Tibet. Comment .It's my favourite classical non film piece of music by Williams. K.M.who might ask to have it played at his funeral.
  8. oh my,Geff Goldblum??????I ain't gay or anyhing like that but...Geff Goldblum???? K.M.
  9. I agree 100%.Goldsmith stuck to that style untill 1985 ending it with Legend. Then Blam,he was never the same again for a still unknown reason, but from what I read it was a deliberate decision, perhaps having to do with the slaughter of his Legend score. His 76-85 scores are lush ,melodic ,complex, experimental, thematic, mystical and after that they have been a 1or 2 theme rythm driven affairs.Yes very much like Williams in that era.Heck, even Horner was good then. K.M.Who mostly seeks out Goldsmith from that era.
  10. well the complete STTMP boot is not complete. It's missing a few minutes of music, when Kirk memos in his "captain's log" after they leave drydock, and again a bit later. The interest in those short cues, presumedly lost or destroyed,is that it contains Alexander Courage's T.V theme woven in subtly. k.m.
  11. Ok,so then why is not Lucas the producer of TPM and AOTC?Why does he need Rick Mc Callum at all.Lucas overules everything on a SW movie anyways, and HE paid for the movie to be made, approved the cast and crew.... K.M.
  12. Stefancos is right,he de-hissed the current circulating STTMP boot and put them in film order and used the sony c.d. for the already released material. And the alternate tracks are facinating to listen to. K.m.
  13. but the scene wasn't meant to be hilarious, and now Williams is partly responsible for making it so. k.M.
  14. Williams wrote over 80 scores,so yes,its my list of basics. k.m.
  15. actually the last Crusade has minimal use of the raiders march in the score,it's quoted only 3 or 4 times very briefly trough out most of the movie untill it's obliagatory full rendition before the End Credits. And I don't think that Goldsmith overused his "Enterprise" theme all that much in any of his other Trek scores,a snipplet here and there.Only it's mandatory in all the End Credits, like the opening crawl music in Star Wars. k.M.
  16. Final Conflict, the Second Comming track, never heard a chorus reach such hights before. K.M.
  17. Yeah,I just LOVE the original cue of the Imperial March Williams wrote intended to be used when we first see the Imperial fleet.(Aboard the Executor,on the esb S.E. s.d. set).Easily THE most bombastic and ear shattering segment of music Williams ever wrote. K.M.
  18. That's the only cue I really like on this album. K.M.Who thinks the best version of Goldsmith Star trek"march"is in the End Credits of STTMP...notice the subtle use of cool sounding electronic instruments.
  19. I was wondering about the Raiders Geman theme, which one and where. I like that very short 19 second cue mapping the trip to the German Nazi castle in last Crusade. K.M.
  20. It took 20 f*cking years before they FINALLY released Poltergeist on C.D.(Expanded)Even the old LP was totally unfindable. K.M.
  21. The whole album and movie score frighten me... K.M.
  22. the version heard in AOTC just before Duel of the Fates is strikingly similar to Binary sunsets. K.M.Who voted for the Funeral Pyre version, the movie version beeing the best of the 2 versions.
  23. thanks Harry,i couldn't remember some parts. K.m.
