  1. Thank you for the link JoeinAr! I really enjoyed the article and am also looking forward to Chamber of Secrets. I just finished rereading the HP books to refresh my memory and am now rereading the LOTR trilogy to get ready for The Two Towers. Mari
  2. I only have 24 of the film scores which is modest by this board's standards. (I'm working on it though!) AI, SPR and Amistad are the least of my favorites. I think Schindler's List is an amazing score, but one I don't listen to very often. Mari - (I just realized every score I listed is for a Spielberg movie.)
  3. I knew I forgot to mention something! That was the relatively painless part.
  4. I enjoy the concert works so much because they show a different side of his talent/genius. My personal favorite is the basson concerto The Five Sacred Trees. It was the first concert work by John Williams that I purchased and fell in love with on first listen. It is the reason I started collecting the rest of the concerti and have not been disappointed. I love music that moves my emotions and all the concert works do that for me on different levels.
  5. The last post was from me. I forgot that I was logged out. Mari
  6. I voted for awesome movie and score! I trust Steven Spielberg to use his music in the best possible way for the film. As for the movie, I have enjoyed the trailers and am hoping the entire film will live up to expectations.
  7. I love the Raiders March. Every time I hear it I smile because it's so upbeat and fun.
  8. I also voted for the Force Theme. The beauty moves me every time I hear it!
  9. I also voted for the second option because I think he is one of the best, but perhaps not the best overall. He is my all-time favorite film composer though. In the classical field, I love the work of Alan Hovhaness. His 2nd Symphony (Mysterious Mountain) is on The Five Sacred Trees CD.
  10. Thank you for the review! Sounds like you had an awesome night.
  11. I voted for Born on the Fourth of July. I really like the way Williams writes for Tim Morrison. The first time I heard it, I hadn't started collecting soundtracks yet, but went out the next day and bought it because the music was just so beautiful.
  12. My collection of soundtracks is relatively small, although I'm working on it. I've been trying to get all his concert works over the last few months and have managed to acquire all of the concertos. Jane Eyre
  13. The video was delivered to me on Saturday. The box was even marked in big letters: Postmaster: For Delivery on May 28th. LOL I've watched it several times and enjoy it more with each viewing. I want the The Chamber of Secrets to be released now!
  14. In no particular order (other than Williams at the top): 1. John Williams 2. John Barry 3. James Horner 4. Patrick Doyle 5. Erich Korngold 6. Jerry Goldsmith 7. Michael Kamen 8. Trevor Jones 9. Lee Holdridge 10. William Walton
  15. Thank you for the info! Mari - adding another item to my must have list!
  16. I had a hard time deciding between E.T. and Schindler's List, but voted for E.T.
  17. I voted for Minority Report mainly because that's the first one being released! Clarinet Concerto (Williams)
  18. My favorite is Tim Morrison for the amazing trumpet work in BOTFOJ, JFK and the fanfares. Clarinet Concerto (Williams)
  19. I voted for Born on the Fourth of July because I love what I heard on the soundtrack and would really like to hear more! Clarinet Concerto (Williams)

    Best 00 score

Yes - I know it is a minority opinion. :lookaround: I've listened to A.I. several times and it doesn't move me the way The Patriot does. I really enjoy a few of the tracks, but not the whole CD. Mari

    Best 00 score

Harry, I agree! My ranking would be: 1. Harry Potter 2. AOTC 3. The Patriot 4. A.I. Mari
  22. I've been thinking about this too and wondering why the cave is so strong with the dark side. I really think something needs to happen there in Episode III. Mari
  23. I thought first about brass because of the fanfares and then thought about the different concertos and how well he writes for each instrument and then thought about the choral works like Duel Of The Fates and finally realized he writes excellently for all instruments. (My brain is now tired from all this thinking). Mari: cat-woman

    Best 00 score

I saw the CNN interview and John Williams did confirm that he will score The Chamber of Secrets along with Catch Me If You Can. Mari - voted for Harry Potter
