  1. Peter Jackson mentioned the following in the Winter 2002 issue of Soundtrack Magazine... "(Howard Shore) looks at it as being a piece of music, that one day when they release the box set with his entire score for all three films, you could happily spend nine hours hearing it and it would be like an opera, where themes build upon themes. Things that are hinted at in the beginning, but resolved at the end." There you go! -Erik-
  2. The Star Wars Anthology box set also offers a Return of the Jedi disc that has much better sound quality compared to the ROTJ SE discs. Actually, it's disc 2 of the SE that has the terrible, muddy sound quality. Anyway, if you can find the box set for a good price I suggest you should pick it up. -Erik-
  3. The triangle.... O.K.. seriously... I've talked to French Horn players and to ditto everyone elses comments, yes, it IS the hardest instrument to play. Actually, the xylophones are pretty damn hard as well. -Erik-

  6. Christopher Page composed music for British Audio Design which specializes in production music. At Hudson's Bay Company, where I work, we own one of his discs which contains that very cue. We used the cue for a "Super Hero Parody" video that we produced 4 years ago. I didn't realize until I bought The Rocketeer DVD that the music was composed specifically for that trailer. Anyway, here's a little bio on Christopher Page. ----- Christopher Page was born in London, England and began his musical training at a very early age, studying composition, orchestration, conducting and performance at the Royal Academy of Music. He is credited with producing, writing and arranging for many well known film and television shows including; In the Heat of the Night, Columbo, Diagnosis Murder, Mission Impossible, and Perry Mason. Some of Christopher?s feature film credits include The Rocketeer, and The Arrival. Also Witness and Karate Kid 2 for sound design. Reecording sessions with Rosie Gaines, The O?Jays, and Michael Sembello are also part of Chris?s session history and part of his expansive musical career. -Erik-

  11. Well, it finally happened? it may have taken 6 six years to figure it out but we finally did it. For the very first time Cinematic Sound is proud to present on-demand streaming of the show. For those poor unfortunate souls who aren?t able to hear the show live on Saturday can now listen to the show whenever they feel like it. The plan is to upload the entire 3-hour program two days after the live broadcast. So, that means a new show should be available every Monday night. We will leave the show up for one week only. And no we cannot send you a downloadable MP3 file of the program due to copyright laws. Now, the first show you will hear is our Cinema-Lite program, which aired on February 8th (the first hour is all John Williams music!) The show hasn?t been edited in any form therefore you will hear the commercials that were played during the live broadcast. For future shows we will take the commercials out. We are going to leave this show up for a couple of weeks as a test. After the test we will update the show on a weekly basis as mentioned above. You will need a Real Player to listen to the program. A link has been set up at our site for you to download one just incase you don?t have it. After listening to the show we would like your input. Please vote in out Cinematic Sound Poll, which will be up on the site within 24 hours. Let us know what you thought about the program and if there are any improvements that you would like to see or hear. And if you would like you can e-mail me directly with any questions, comments or concerns at cinematicsound@yahoo.com The first program is up and ready for you to listen to. Please go to http://www.dillusions.net/Cinematic/cinematic_main.htm and enjoy! -Erik- http://www.geocities.com/cinematicsound
  12. My top five scores of the year went like this... - SIGNS (Newton Howard) - ATTACK OF THE CLONES (Williams) - ROAD TO PERDITION (Newman) - THE TWO TOWERS (Shore) - HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS (Williams) I picked SIGNS as the winner. But, if I was thinking like an academy member Mark Olivarez's picks seem to fit the Academy's style. However, I totally disagree with Mark that Signs is not as good as the hype. This score is to Howard as Jaws was to Williams. But, we all have our own opinions... ... and I think Bernstein is going to win for Far From Heaven because of the "hype" and because he is Elmer Bernstein. The score is good... one of my top ten... but not the best of the year. -Erik-
  13. Alan Silvestri - Predator 2, Soap Dish and Richocet David Michael Frank - Cosmic Voyage That's all I know. -Erik-
  14. 1. Raiders of the Lost Ark 2. The Empire Strikes Back 3. Superman 4. Jurassic Park 5. Hook 6. Schindler's List 7. E.T. 8. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 9. Far and Away 10. Jaws -Erik-

  16. BTW, Piovani's score is horrible. It's big orchestral circus music. The most annoying album I've heard since Glass' score to Kundun!!! -Erik-
  17. Hello Everyone, This week on CINEMATIC SOUND I will be presenting the best of Jerry Goldsmith in the 80's. Due to the fact that this is a last second change in my programming I haven't had the chance to compile a list of Goldsmith's top scores of the 80's. This is where you guys come in... If you would like to help, please post here your top 10 Jerry Goldsmith scores of the 1980's. This should help me in programming my show and spark some interesting debate as to which of his many scores in this decade are truly Goldsmith's best. Thanks for your assistance, -Erik-
  18. This is great news... I'm looking forward to hearing the City of Prague Philharmonic's rendition of these scores. Maybe they will include some previously unreleased music!!! -Erik- Bond: Back In Action 2 "A View To A Kill - Suite"

  20. RE: Cinematic Sound Web Site URL change. This is a note to let webmasters and film music fans know that the Cinematic Sound Radio Show web site has moved to a new URL. We are now located at http://www.geocities.com/cinematicsound. We were located at http://www.geocities.com/filmmusic1, and actually the site is still there, but due to complications with our Yahoo! Geocities “filmmusic1” account we are unable to update that site any further. Therefore, we ask all webmasters to update their Cinematic Sound Radio Show links to the new URL http://www.geocities.com/cinematicsound and we ask all fans to join us there as well. Thank you very much for your time and happy listening. 21. Paul Tonks' latest news column at Movie Poop Shoot has just gone up giving definitive answer on Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Ultimate Edition, gossip from DIE ANOTHER DAY sessions, reviews of the new BUFFY album & THE PRISONER re-releases. Also linked to is Paul's feature on the music of ALIAS, including interviews with my favorite composer Michael Giacchino and series creator JJ Abrams. Will there be an soundtrack album release of Giacchino's music? Check out link below to find out! http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/score/index.html
  22. AI, As mentioned before the picture has been on the internet for years on my production company's web site. The reason I put a link to it here is because Figo and I were goofing around about the possiblities of her looking like Zeta-Jones. We were just having fun. BTW, AI, are you to tell me that people who have personal sites are extremely stupid because they upload pictures of their significant others? I doubt it. It's not like I took a naked picture of her and posted it here and said "Hey guys, want to see naked pictures of my wife?" I don't see the problem here and neither does my wife. Her picture as well has mine has been seen by hundreds of people that I know and don't even know... but that's the internet for you. -Erik-
