  1. Scores: - Michael Giacchino - Alan Silvestri - John Powell - Ennio Morriconne - Howard Shore - Giorgio Moroder (only in Scarface) - Bill Brown - Henry Mancini - Nino Rota - Elmer Bernstein - Vangelis Non-scores: - Louis Armstrong - AC/DC - Billy Joel - Les Luthiers - Monty Python - Queen - Stravinsky - Elvis Presley And more, but I don't remember right now...
  2. Silvestri was a far better choice for POTC than any of the Media Ventures family. It's a shame we can't listen to any of the demos he composed...
  3. Well, the idea for this topic is preety simple... What films would have like Williams to make the score? I mean, it can be past films or future films. For example, I'll start: PAST - The Godfather - Gladiator - The Da Vinci Code - Back to the Future films - Jurassic Park III - Pirates of the Caribbean films FUTURE - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Parts 1 and 2) - Angels and Demons - Star Trek - Tintin (although it's preety obvious he will) What about you?
  4. The Russians Theme! Just kidding, man (read that in Tony Montana's voice) I'm really glad that Williams won an award for "The Adventures of Mutt". He really deserves it!
  5. Richuk did a great edit of the russians theme! If anyone is interested in hearing it, ask to him or me for it. We'll be more than glad to share it!
  6. Congratulations, genius! Nothing more is needed to say
  7. That's great! Could you post a link to listen to it? I don't know if you prefer to post it here or privately... It makes the same for me.
  8. Yes. Everything depends on the final result, which I'm confident will be very good.
  9. That's great! Thanks a lot for offering! Well... If it fits, you should leave it. But if doesn't, we can remove it. After all, that cue lasts less than thirty seconds, so it's not really that important. It's true, but represents the evilness of the russians in the film. I think we could give it a try. If we don't like the result, we remove it. One thing I was wondering... Which sould be the order of the edit? I mean, which would go first, second, etc...
  10. I was wondering... If nowbody wants to create a MIDI of the Russians Theme, how about a music edit of all the russians parts mentioned in the first post? Anyone here is a good music editor?
  11. Sorry. I forgot to search about it. It's a shame nothing has been found out about it...
  12. By the way, here's a piece that reminds me to "Cantina Band": (Studio version) (Live version)Its name its "Doctor Bob Gordon Shops Hot Dogs From Boston (fox-trot... or not)". It was composed in 1974 by argentinian composer Ernesto Acher. The piece is a tribute to the old dixeland and to Eddie Condon. Could it be possible that Williams was making a homage to the same piece or a homage to Ernesto Acher? PS: I know here Ernesto Acher isn't known, but he's a great jazz composer. One of the best of our country.
  13. Hi, everybody! Recently, checking John Williams profile at IMDb, a credit showed up that intrigued me: "Warner at War". If you go to the complete cast, the credit for original music appears to be credited to John Williams. Here's the link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1323555/ Anybody knows anything more about this?
  14. What main site? I meant here: http://www.jwfan.com/index.php?option=com_...view&id=897 (Scroll down to where it says "unreleased music" and click on "Russian motif") Really? Interesting... Where can I see or listen to that? True. I should add it to the list.
  15. Hi, everybody! (again) Recently, listening to the KOTCS soundtrack, I wondered why a concert piece for "The Russians Theme" isn't featured in the soundtrack or anywhere else. So I was wondering if it could be possible to create the concert version of that theme. Here are the russians themes we should take into account: - The unrelesed motif (which is on the main site in MIDI format) - The horns part in "Irina's Theme" - The jazzy version of the theme in "Jungle Chase" (the complete one) - The dark march in "Jungle Chase" - "Ants!" features a lot of variations of the theme - The "Finale" part If I'm forgetting of another let me know. My idea is to create a MIDI of it or something in that style. But my problem is that I'm not really good at the keyboard (I've created a couple of pieces, but I have problems with the rythm), so I was wondering if a good musician could help to create the concert version of "The Russians Theme". Thanks in advance. PS: If you couldn't understand me, I'll try to explain myself better.
  16. Great concert! Sadly, it's too far for me I hope in the interview they managed to ask something to Williams about his future projects.
  17. It is rather simple. Steven Spielberg even whistles both seperately in Disk Five of the Indiana Jones Box Set, or the Bonus Disk found in the 2003 DVD Box Set. Do you have either? Actually... No, I don't But I think that thanks to indy4 I understood it. Thanks a lot. Wouldn't be interesting to hear both themes separately? Imagine in a concert, if Williams conducted only the "A" theme. Everyone would be like: "What the...?"
  18. Really interesting. Thanks a lot, guys! <_<
  19. I know this question is a bit out of place, but... Could someone tell me which are Indy's A and B themes? Sorry if is an obvious question for you people, but I'm really curious about it. Thanks in advance.
  20. Hi, everybody! I was wondering if someone could answer this questions about the jazz song named in the title of the topic. Here they are... 1. Was it composed before or after "Sing, Sing, Sing"? 2. Why "Sing..." and "Swing..." are so similar? 3. Was the song composed by John Williams? Because on IMDb it lists someone else as the composer of the song. Thanks in advance. If I have any other doubt I'll ask you.
  21. This is great news! The LSO is probably the best orchestra around the globe. By the way... Why didn't the sountrack of KotCS wasn't recorded with that orchestra? It means that JW won't work with it in the future?
  22. Oh, I'm terribly sorry... Again It's the second time this happens to me Well... I'll check the other post. Thank for letting me know
  23. Imagine that one day John Williams called you to pick ten musical pieces composed by him to be performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and conducted by him. It can be anything that has been composed by him. Hipotetically, of course What pieces would you choose? This is my selection: 1. Raiders March 2. The Tale of Viktor Navorsky 3. Jaws Theme 4. Duel of the Fates 5. Buckbeack's Flight 6. Cantina Band 7. Catch me if you can Theme 8. Jurassic Park Theme 9. Irina's Theme (complete version) 10. Star Wars Theme
  24. God forbid we should be vocal about things we like. Beats discussing Zimmer all the time. Why do you people always have to insult Zimmer? There are some people who like him a lot and it's getting very redundant and obnoxious. What if every time you mentioned something you like, a bunch of trolls came and called it crap? Wouldn't that get on your nerves? >_> Crystal Skull I also voted for Crystal Skull. Why? Because... Everything John Williams composes is a masterpiece. Maybe I'm over-rating him, but with all the bad and popular music that exist today (especially that all-syntethized music), it's great to have a composer who is a living legend and that has a great taste in terms of music composing. And about Zimmer... I don't dislike his music. After all, most of his themes are catchy and easy listening (remember he's a rock composer, not a classical one). What I dislike about Zimmer is his style: Mixing a little orchestra with heavy syntethizers. For example, in "Pirates", I was horrified when I noticed the presence of syntethizers in the background music. That could be a reason why a lot of people dislike Zimmmer's music and his students. Maybe you'll say: "For me, the syntethizers sound just like the orchestra". You can never compare two things that are totally different: An orchestra with a keyboard, Spielberg with a bad director, John Williams with Hans Zimmer. They aren't related at all.
