  1. Predator is a great score, but I find it very difficult to find much enjoyment from the music on its own. Perfect fit in the film though, I couldn't imagine anyone else doing it.
  2. Me too! This thread isn't about counterpoints to me, it's about "cross-combination-theme-thingys". I think my term is far better. One day I might just understand half the stuff that's being said in this thread, but until that day, I'll just sit in the corner and say "Gee... that there Williams music sure is purdy".
  3. Is it? :? Not in my house it isn't! 8O
  4. There's a guy over at TF.N who has been claiming to be an insider for months, and providing hints about the possible changes. The picture I posted seems to confirm that he's on the level. Although he says that the changes are mostly minor (along the lines of fixing the lightsabers during the Obi Wan-Vader duel), he also said that Hayden Christensen (or however you spell his name) will appear in Jedi at the end, and like the picture on the previous page demonstrates, that Ian McDiarmid would appear in Empire. Apparently, the dodgy "Greedo Shoots First" SE moment will be changed too (Greedo still shoots first, but it will look better this time) and the Jabba the Hutt scene will also be improved to match Phantom Menace's Jabba. Make of all this what you will, only time will tell.
  5. Cautiously optimistic. I really think that Williams could do something special for this, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much.
  6. I don't think the score to A.I. is anywhere near as good as it's made out to be, I quite like the score to The Patriot, and I'm a James Horner completist . Should I run and hide now? I know it's a different situation in the US, but here in the UK I don't think I've ever seen a full screen DVD on the shelves (except for discs that have an original 4:3 ratio of course). Don't Let Him, The Omen
  7. That was actually the first CD soundtrack I got (in 94), although I didn't really "get into" scores for another year or so. I found that I didn't fully appreciate a lot of the soundtrack for a while, it was mainly "The Enterprise" that I loved and listened to repeatedly. It's one of those scores that I "rediscovered" years after I got it, and fully realised just how amazing it is. I'd personally hold it up as one of the best (if not the best)Goldsmith scores.
  8. Jurassic Park in 93 when I was 14 (on cassette! I didn't even have a CD player then...) The first CD was Gerhardt's recording of Return of the Jedi 2 years later.
  9. http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com - last I checked they didn't have any ads at all, and their playlist is pretty huge.
  10. I didn't realise that the book title was changed to "Sorcerer's Stone" as well... My bad.
  11. Damn, and there was me thinking it was one of Jupiter's moons Yeah, I ain't seen the film and I was referring to the river
  12. And that's exactly what he's gonna do. Lucas is addicted to re-releasing these films every 2 or 3 years with some new gimmick to reel buyers in, and his "they won't ever be released again" line is about as believable to me as his "I had all of the films planned out from the beginning" one. Didn't he also say at one point that none of the films (original or prequel) would come out on DVD until after Episode 3 was released? That idea died a quick enough death once the $$$ hunger took hold.
  13. I actually heard that it was changed because the studio believed that the word "philosopher" was too intellectual for American viewers . I remember a few years back, the title of "Ghosts of Mississippi" was changed in the Uk to "Ghosts From the Past" because the execs thought that UK viewers wouldn't know what or where the Mississippi is LOL. Yet another great reason to not allow dumb people to make important decisions.
  14. ... and one really misleading track title too :? I was tempted to vote for Indy, but the music that is on there is still pretty great, so it's got to be Return of the Jedi. Any album that would include Lapti Nek over The Dark Side Beckons or Darth Vader's Death is pretty abysmal.
  15. Hi all, I'm soon going to be putting together my score for 1941 from the DVD iso track, but I was wondering if there is anything good I would be missing from the OST (ie concert suites, unused music etc), and if so would it be worth tracking down the OST to add this material to the complete score? Thanks, Danielle
  16. All of the music not included on the OST is counted as great by me... To be more specific, my favourite unreleased parts are: - The deal with Lao Che and the fight in the club - The slave boy returning to the village (esp. the part where Indy first looks at the manuscript) - Arrival at Pancot Palace - Indy stealing the stones (My most wanted cue) - Running from the water - The fight on the clifftop where the Basket Game is quoted - Indy and Mola Ram fighting on the bridge, and the full finale For me, any one of these cues is as good as (if not better) than anything that made it onto the Polydor album. - Danielle
  17. The excerpt's from Yared's score are still online at his site, they just aren't being linked to anymore. http://www.soundtrack-board.de/board/showt...read.php?t=2719 Just head over here and scroll down to the post at the bottom of the page, they're all there... Just without track titles.
  18. I love all three scores, but as the poster tagline says, "There is no comparison" - TMP all the way.
