The one and only Moneypenny finally logged in her last assignment. Perhaps her passing will encourage the producers to let the character die with her, like they should have with Q when Desmond Llellyn died.

R.I.P.

They did with Q. He had a great exit.

And Miss Moneypenny was a crucial part of the persona, the blissful knowing flirtations were always a highlight. RIP.

Desmond had a great exit, but Q came back in Die Another Day with John Cleese. Not to make a deal out of it, simply stating a fact.

Q had an amazing exit. Truly heartfelt.

Although they did screw it up by first calling John Cleese R, and then making him Q.

R.I.P. Lois Maxwell...

From the beginning Cleese's character was the official next 'Q' and he already was 'Q' in TWINE (at least in TWINE's finale). It was only Bond who cracked a joke about him being 'R' and the producers followed it by naming him 'R' in the credit roll to distinguish him from the old 'Q'.
