The most inspiring film you've ever seen!

Apollo 13.

Never give up?

Making a air filter out of rubbish and an old sock.

Hahaha. Sure "failure is not an option" is a nice quote/principle, but again it was more about the whole act of leaving the planet/human spirit of exploration and whatnot that really inspired me. Lots of kids want to be astronauts, but I was pretty serious about it for a long time.

Inspiring as in 'being influential', 'putting thoughts into your head', 'giving you ideas', the power to change you...

Yes, I understand "inspiring" means all those things you say.

My question was, what exact thoughts and ideas it put into your head? ;)

Thoughts about the essence of the human mind (or soul)?

A simple question but almost impossible to answer since that movie has been an important part of my life for 30 years now. It has put like 10.000 ideas and thoughts into my head. I don't know any other movie that is so provocative as BR. If I had to single out one thing it's probably the power of aesthetics.

Alex

How about this, Alex: how did seeing "Blade Runner" affect you?

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom? Fight for your country?

In Braveheart they were fighting 'for' the creation of an independent country.

It did not have the desired effect ("for a while....but lying in your beds many years from now") etc.

I can't speak for Alex, but if Blade Runner effected me it was probably Roy's - "tears in rain" speech at the end.

Impermanence of one's cherished life experiences. Also, how the desire for life / freedom won't tolerate being toyed with.

I guess this shows up in Logan's Run and Jurassic Park too.

"Life finds a way / breaks through restriction", no matter how much man tries to 'manage' it.
