Josh500 1,615
I know Thomas Newman is the son of Alfred Newman. But are David Newman, Randy Newman, and Joey Newman related to them in any way? Why are so many composers named Newman??? Just coincidence???
John McClane 1
David is the brother of Thomas and the cousin of Randy. So David and Thomas are Randy's cousins.Randy and Alfred are brothers. So Alfred is David and Thomas' uncle. Oh, what a mess...we need a genealogical tree!Check out David, Thomas and Randy's biographies here.In David's page, also Lionel and Emil are mentioned, I never even heard of them (I don't even know if they are composers).I don't know if and how Joel is related with the others. Omen II 1,235
I think that Joey Newman is Lionel Newman's grandson. Isn't there a Maria Newman knocking about somewhere? I think she's one of the clan too.Damien

David Newman has composed a piece that will be premiered by the Indianapolis Symphony this coming weekend. The piece is a tribute to his father and its called ?Songs of my Father?.http://www.indianapolissymphony.org/about/...ssReleaseID=112On February 12, Randy Newman will be performing with the Long Beach Symphony. They will be performing scores that he composed and film clips will be presented on a screen. http://www.lbso.org/

John McClane 1
Hmm...he's just not as popular as Thomas, David, Randy or Alfred.I started buying scores from the beginning on 2004, so it's only 1 year I'm into this kind of music. Before I was only a JW fan. I knew only some other composers.
Morlock 11
He's not as famous a composer, but he's legendary for his role in the Fox music Department. Conducted several of Jerry Goldsmith's classic score. I don't think I've ever heard a piece of music he's written.
pat_burke 0
I know of him mainly from his association with Jerry.I was only messing Tommy. I'm as big a JG fan as JW so I end up thinking that others would know stuff that Goldsmith fans would know. Or something like that.
