Friday The 13th at the Movies!

Recommended Posts

As you all may or may not know, this upcoming friday is FRIDAY THE 13TH!!! :( So what are some good scary films to keep the mood real. I'm not really talking about cheese ball 80's horror flicks. I'm talking about good horror movies. Although feel free to cheese ball if you wish....you know if that's your thing. :)

My first thought was What Lies Beneath but I've not actually seen the whole thing. A good FT13 movie?

Carry on.

It's not horror at all, but I love how many various and bizarre deaths are there in both Final Destination.

Another not horror, but quite gore movie I recently watched, it's Land of the dead. Not a masterpiece, but not bad either. It's short, but there's some gore in it, so it may not be scary, but it's kinda disgusting. A friend of mine was disgusted by it, while I had fun watching people get eaten alive by zombies. ;)

I'm not a big fan of horror films, but Carrie is one of my favorites. Of the films mentioned above, both 28 Days Later and Rosemary's Baby I liked.

I don't know it's hard to come up with movies that actually put a scare into me.

I would suggest:

Friday the 13th - first film only

The Omen

Jaws

Alien

Nightmare On Elm Street - first film only

Psycho

The Exorcist

The Shining

The Serpent And The Rainbow

Halloween - first film only

While they may not pack the scary punch you can't go wrong with the original classics such as Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman etc etc etc or the old 50' & 60's Horror films.

There really isn't much to add, but I'll attempt to throw in a few new ones.

Halloween (a must....forget the first Friday 13th movie)

The Last House on the Left

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

The Exorcist

The Fly (Cronenberg remake)

The Devil's Rejects

The Thing (Carpenter remake)

High Tension (never saw it, but it's supposed to be disgusting)

Dawn of the Dead (original)

The Ring (US version)

The Others

Psycho

Re-Animator (okay, fine, there is a fair amount of cheese in this one...)

Evil Dead.

Tim, plenty more where that came from...

-What Lies Beneath

-Signs . . . these two are more "thrillers," but they're both great

-Psycho

-The Shining - I haven't seen all of this, but I know it's a bit of a classic, and I want to watch it all sometime

And others.

I need to watch The Shining again. Quite the crazy film, that.

I'd say a good scary movie is The Others. A good one for friday or Halloween.
