  1. Well, generally speaking, yes. (I had to look up what aberration means)
  2. After your recommendation, I listened to it too. Quite good score, and although I don't remember Scent of A Woman, I could hear the Thomas Newman influences. I don't know why, but I cannot listen to excerpts from soundtracks. Maybe that's why I don't hear compilations often, or I haven't still viewed/listened to the John Williams concerts. If I want to hear a soundtrack, I want to hear it from start to finish. I handle it as a kind of film (who would want to see scenes from various films in a row?)
  3. I don't know about the expanded soundtrack, but the 4K blu-ray is being released in France: https://www.amazon.fr/Born-on-the-Fourth-of-July-4K-Blu-ray/dp/B0CRWNTT8B
  4. Since I'm not familiar with this composer, can anyone recommend any religious-related/sounding soundtracks (besides Black Robe and Agnes of God)?
  5. I tried twice to watch it, but I slept both times. (I have reached the 1 hour mark). I wonder if I should try a third time and finish it. It didn't grab me at all. And the music score didn't help.
  6. Just paid 171 euros at amazon.uk for these (10 movies in total). My collection habit is really expensive!
  7. Yeah, maybe it has to do with watching the film first in my childhood. That main theme was stuck on my mind afterwards.
  8. I LOVE this score (and film)! (although I'm not into synth scores). Especially the theme. I hope for an official release!
  9. Haven't listened to this. You mean it's atonal, or tonal?
  10. The John Williams score that he'll compose totally out of the blue, without us knowing it!
  11. Director's cut, with the Jerry Goldsmith score of course. (I don't like the Tangerine Dream one) I don't understand the hate for this film. I like it a lot, but I don't know what went wrong with it. I love the magical atmosphere, it has great production values and a sublime musical score (I think it's Goldsmith's masterpiece). Also it's very hard to believe that they built all that forest in a studio! Wow!
  12. Well, I didn't say it's great myself. I just prefer it from the other scores I've heard.
  13. I hadn't realized these scores are so popular that they would be released all 3 as sheet music scores.
  14. Oh, the "almost as much etc..." went with the "I really enjoy this film". I should have written it like this I guess: I really enjoy this film, almost as much as the Indiana Jones original trilogy, although it has a lot of CGI (which I generally don't like).
  15. https://variety.com/2024/film/news/joe-hisaishi-the-boy-and-the-heron-score-birthday-gift-hayao-miyazaki-1235861713/
  16. I really enjoy this film, although it has a lot of CGI (which I generally don't like), almost as much as the Indiana Jones original trilogy. And what a wonderful score. It should have been nominated for an Oscar!
  17. have you listened to The Last Emperor Little Buddha The Sheltering Sky?
  18. I'm just listening to this by the previous year's Oscar winner. It's quite good! Romantic minimalism I guess. Actually, I would prefer this to go into the 15 short list, than many other scores I listened to. Why didn't it?
  19. A favorite movie from my childhood, a landmark in American cinema! A bit complex script for kids, but it's delightful with a great Silvestri score too!
  20. Was listening to this while I was body grooming (). Hmmm. Didn't leave any impression on me, as most - if not all - Thomas Newman scores. I'm in the middle of this, and I find it quite interesting! Surely, it's easy-listening music that you could maybe listen to a supermarket, or the doctor's office, but I find it quite entertaining. Nothing sticks with me yet, but I would listen to it again.
  21. Well, from all 6 scores I've listened to now (along with Killers of the flower moon), I liked The Boy and the Heron best. (yeah, even more than Williams's score). Although still I think it's not one of Hisaishi's best efforts.
  22. Again, not my cup of tea. I wouldn't listen to this again.
  23. Thank you @Thor. Although, I was talking about this list here: https://www.billboard.com/music/awards/2024-oscars-best-original-score-shortlist-full-list-robbie-robertson-1235563826/ I thought it was the same with the list in the first post. I made a mistake.
