Oof, that's bad. Unfortunately I don't run the website, so I'm kinda stuck and complicated, when it comes to the regional locks. I'll have to check that out later, as my limited audience obviously doesn't skew very hard outside the U.S. -

Godzilla: King of the Monsters - My only big problem was some of the character interactions and decisions, as is typical of these films, but otherwise I had a good time. Some of the monster action was extremely exhilarating and "off the wall", arguably maybe a bit too much, but the way they spread it out was really nice. I especially loved McCreary's score. The use of Ifukube's classic Godzilla theme during the big battle between Godzilla and King Ghidorah just got me super pumped, and his Rodan theme definitely clearly has influences of Elliot Goldenthal to it. Also I wish these Godzilla films would learn the meaning of "monster fight during the day". All that heavy rain, and Ghidorah's whirlwind got old rather fast. - 7 / 10 -
New podcast with yours truly: THE GOLDSMITH ODYSSEY
Fancyarcher replied to Yavar Moradi's topic in General Discussion
Not much lately TBH. I only come to this site every now and again to mostly post in "last score you listened to thread", and the last movie I just saw thread. I think I do remember reading that page, and link now that I think about it, I just never got around to listening to the podcast on its own. Will have to change that. -

The Phantom Menace is 20 years old.
Fancyarcher replied to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal's topic in General Discussion
I saw it in the cinemas a kid, and I distinctly remember everyone I knew as well as the general public, being wowed by it when it first came out, especially due to the hype. The music played a big part in that too, as soon as the classic fanfare started and the title screen appeared, there was an uproarious response from the audience that I haven't seen in a theater before or after. It wasn't until years later and everything had cooled off, did we notice the clear flaws the film had. I do appreciate The Phantom Menace a bit, especially for being the only one of the prequels to use a lot of practicals. It also reminds me of a more innocent time, and it along with the original trilogy played a large part in me developing my love for film music. I wanted to get the soundtrack of the film, but was disappointed when I couldn't find it anywhere at the time. -
This is, I believe, the first Malick film in some time to have original music attached to it, done by a composer that I'm actually familiar with. I haven't seen any of Malick's recent films, but based off early reactions and reviews, this looks to be his best received since Tree of Life, a movie that I'll admit I have a hot and cold relationship with. I'm curious about the score too. I'm sure Malick will use it as he sees, as he always does, frustratingly enough, but it could be JNH's most interesting score in ages. It's certainly nice to see him doing a much smaller different film, after all those blockbusters, and big studio films.

Just saw this news. Very sad to hear of his passing. I read him on Twitter, and he always seemed like such a humble, appreciating guy in interviews. RIP Peter Mayhew!!!

Avengers: Endgame - Silvestri Ferdinand - John Powell Chicken Run - Powell & Gregson Empire of The Sun - John Williams - First time listening all the way through. Genius. Imaginary Air Battle had more of an effect on me, then I expected it to. Such a great uplifting piece, and The Return to the City, wow, that piano! -

Avengers: Endgame - Loved it. By the end I was in tears, It was like following a 10 years saga, and seeing it progress as much as it did was fantastic. I really enjoyed Hulk's comedic beats, and while the film was three hours, it never felt like it was too overlong for its own good. - 9 / 10 -

Less that, and more like things such as Big, and other kid-fulfillment wish type movies, they even make a reference to it. -
