I am sorry, but being a huge JW fan, the music in ROTS is borderline ponderous.

So many moments could have reached the stratosphere but instead sputtered like an old chevy nova.

The movie would have been ten times better witha more traditional score and I know there will be peole on this forum saying things like..."This is a new sound", "Open your mind"........

My response...."It's Star Wars folks.........it's supposed to be fun!"

I know a lot of you share the same thoughts......come on..admit it.......

Well, most of us on this board are open to new ideas, but you need to be more specific. I don't really see a good, solid argument in your post. Can you define "traditional score".

Tim, perplexed.

I only heard Battle of the Heroes yet, but I'm thrilled every time when I hear that counterpoint from 0:26.

The only good track on the album and in the movie is the lightsaber duel, mainly because it isand used music from the empire strikes back and reminds you of what a truly great score was.

Not to offend anyone.....but to like everything an artist does all the time is one dimensional and boring. You have to be honest with your opinion and say when something is not done to its potential.

The opening Titles sound more like the old trilogy music because Williams uses Scottish snares again instead of concert snares.

The Main Title march is the same recording as AotC, which was the same as TPM.

Is the main title a march? It's not even on I love A Parade!

I'm sorry? Have you found one single person on these boards who loves everything JW has ever done?

No - I thought not....best read the boards before you start making dumb comments like that, Mr Germ!

As for ROTS being "Boring" - maybe you have a different version to most of us? Or are you more "Enlightened"? NOPE - though so.....it's just that you have a different opinion to others.....which is part of the fun of discussion forums - but to tell us what we should be thinking is the action of of a class A, high definition burk....

I mean the new part after the Main Title

I don't wish to express any opinion on ROTS yet as to whether the ROTS music is good or not as I have not yet seen the film. I need to see how well the music sits in the film to be able to really appreciate the music.

The only thing I will say is that, for me ROTS is very much a departure from the other music, similar to the way IJATLC was a departure from the two previous films as far as the music goes. Although there are familiar themes present on the official OST the released music gives it a completely different feel

my thoughts only.

To each his own...

I agree. People have different tastes, and perhaps someone just doesn't like a particular score.

~Tyler, who really likes ROTS.

Two of my least favorite tracks on the album, "Padme's Ruminations" and "Palpatine's Teachings" ended up being some of the most effective pieces in the film

I only found the score "lacking" in the opening space battle.

At first I was underwhelmed by the ROTS score, but I was in the dark. For some reason, it sounds much better and more powerful than I originally thought.

Anakin's Betrayal didnt say anything to me, not it gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it.

Only because of its place in the mix - yes, the dogfighting brass-writing wasn't exemplary but that Force theme march could have been utilised so much better, and the rest of the pounding percussion (missiles and some of buzz-droids) were equally hidden in the sound mix.

Yes, the music was mixed waaay too low in the opening space battle. I could barely discern the rebel fanfare, even though I'd been waiting for it.

JW "Boring" is Stepmom. ROTS is not boring.

I thought that Anakin's Betrayal was the most effective cue in the film... it's really what made the Jedi wipeout so sadenning.. It really was so sad to see, and I think that's probably due to John Williams' score.. I mean, OK.. it's only jedi.. boo hoo.. but somehow it just seemed really sad so I guess that's down to JW

I was loving the cd, but the music that I listened in the movie is so great for the ears.

Favorite parts:

-Greivous arriving to Utapau

-Order 66 (Betrayal was good in the album, but now it is SAD)

-the Duel (BotH probably my favourite piece of music of all time)

-final part (twins/vader birth, Alderaan/Tatooine)

I wasn´t a big fan of Padme Ruminations, Palpatine Dark Teachings and Qui-Gon funeral, but all sound great in the film. The same with the Greivous action music.

Now when I listened to the soundtrack I have to listened it in chronological order and I cry sometimes and my skin is "chicken skin" a lot of times.... I can´t wait for a double cd. I think it would be my favourite album (yeah album and score) of all times.

It's good, but not that good. ;)

Only thing that gives me goosebumps is the finale from E.T., but that's just me.

And ESB will always kick every score's ass. But again, that's just me.

I wouldn't say that. It gives me goosebumps, but not always. But ET does it every time.

But ESB is such a thrill. The Battle of Hoth, the Asteroid Field, Yoda raising the X-Wing, the whole third act. Awesomeness to the max, baby.
