Trent B 354 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Dawn knows I post here but other than that no one else does. I'm sure if I up and died tomorrow anyone here would probably find out via Facebook, maybe or maybe not. All though it probably would largely go unnoticed on message boards.
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 If I died right now, you people on this board would never know.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Would we care?
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Why? You don't even know I'm dead. From your point of view, I just got tired of the forum and stopped posting.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I will write a bot that asks me if I'm alive once every year. If I click "no" or do not respond it assumes I'm dead and logs into my account and informs all of you. Brónach 1
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Can you write one for me too?
gkgyver 1,647 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Don't do it for free!Charge 2 bucks for every download and you'll be an App millionaire.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Wat een gelul!
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I still think that actually enforcing English only as a rule is stupid and somewhat impolite.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Pity.Such a productive thread ...I demand a French, a German, and a Dutch subforum! Koray Savas 1
Why do you think that? Any bad experience?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 I still think that actually enforcing English only as a rule is stupid and somewhat impolite.Well, it would be impossible to monitor if we were multi lingual.
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I'm not saying we should go multilingual, I'm saying it's really weird that a moderator shows up forbidding languages to some guys that are simply chatting or cracking jokes. As if they were plotting something under a sort of undecipherable code. I know Jason is only following the rule, I'm talking about the rule itself. I've never been on a forum where this happened so it calls my attention.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Certainly true. But to shut down even small banters within threads seems excessive. It's not like we will then all of a sudden only speak our native languages. After all, we want to be read and understood (on a basic level at least ...)

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Not interested...
Why do you think that? Any bad experience?Generally I`ve enjoyed my visits in France. But like most major European cities, I have some displeasing or even funny stories in Paris. And I`ve picked up on certain behavioural traits in certain French regions.I wouldn`t say they`re pretentious, but they have their faults.Next July?By then they`ll have the iRack out.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 To fail? I can't blame you.In you.I have no interest in you, or engaging in so called pleasant banter with you.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 I wouldn`t say they`re pretentious, but they have their faults.Landburning communist peasants who are either always on strike or are hunting for Aristocrats....Very little to redeem them, apart from the food.
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I wouldn`t say they`re pretentious, but they have their faults.Well, nobody's perfect. But I was thinking sometimes one sees behaviours through oneself's cultural background and don't really get it.There's a stereotype of the Spaniard as a rude person for that reason, and so on.
alicebrallice 134 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I'm imagining him speaking french right now.heh... hehehe. hehehehehh. nice...Finalement, un person qui parle une langue que je peux parler! Aucune finnois ou le suédois! If I died right now, you people on this board would never know.this thread scares me.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Most likely....
crocodile 9,724 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 The moment I read the first post of this thread, I thought of him.Karol
Wojo 2,458 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Jay mentioned a Facebook page that it will create as a memoriam for a deceased member. I have not encountered this yet. I used to work at the same company as a man who passed away after I no longer worked there. He had a Facebook page but I never sent him a friend request, but since Facebook sees our six common friends, it periodically suggests that I add him. It is possible his family was not able to change his status by getting access to his account, and I would feel weird sending the request now, since we never spoke.Likewise, when I die, I haven't shared this community here with my family, so only a handful might find out from Facebook. Assuming I die soon.
crocodile 9,724 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I have no plans of keeping Facebook profile updated after my demise. Which is scheduled to happen somewhere this century.Karol
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I've never even heard of this deceased profile page anyway.
Ollie 1,375 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 My Facebook page will be a shrine to me.But seriously, I'm sure my wife would update the message board as well and quite a few of you on Facebook would know if something happened to me.
Jay 46,245 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 See here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/facebook/6445152/Facebook-introduces-memorial-pages-to-prevent-alerts-about-dead-members.html And how it can be abused here: http://www.inquisitr.com/471644/facebook-dead-prank-can-cause-headaches-for-victims/
Jill Sandwich 11,171 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I think even my Facebook/Twitter friends would be among the last to know about my deadification. My family wouldn't even know how to contact these people to invite them to the funeral.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 My Facebook page will be a shrine to me.Isnt it that already? In the case of your unfortunate demise, you think the puppet will try to move in and take your place?
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Facebook is not for everyone, I despise it.Stefan who died?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Stefan who died?No one. Lets just say I had a premonition.
