I'm talking about the US version, not a statement on nationality. I recall I thought Cruise was terrible and that Curry's neck had to hurt.

maybe they'll make a film then Stefan, they can call it JoeinAr's Ashes, John Williams will score it because surely Boston is out of range. You can provide the narration.

Frances is a female.

if it was rejected in the US then that's all that matters, it's the one I saw. And no I didn't know his score was used in foreign cuts. It couldn't save the film regardless. I've not cared to revisit it at all.

Goldsmith score couldn't save the film, plus it was a horrible edit & track job. But the fact remains that the score was actually used for international releases, it was only replaced for the US market. And an iso score of it wouldn't be illogical, and not even entirely (though probably still very) unlikely. After all, they did release Goldsmith's proper Alien score as an iso, and that was even by the same director.

Nevertheless, with a bit of sweet and sour sauce she will be delicious!

ok, that explains it then..

Well, the European theatrical release had the Goldsmith score and I suggest you to take a look sometime.

Maybe it changes a bit your opinion of the film.

Also the US BLuray (since US matters), has the director's cut which also has the Goldsmith Score.

The Tangerine Dream score in my opinion, is one of the most unfitted and out of place scores for a film ever!

And the Goldsmith score is a masterpiece on its own.

That depends culturally. In some countries it is now wholly uncommon to eat dog. My ex tasted some, though she did not like the flavor. For her father it was a delicacy.

In the UK they dont eat horse meat, apparently...

I was told horse meat is a traditional food in some areas of North-western Spain and that it was utterly delicious. I've never tasted it.

Frances is family, therefore it would be cannibalism, horse and dog are too stringy for human consumption. watch best in show and then think about eating dog.

I'm surprised to find you squeamish, that is not your reputation.

Horse is perfectly fine for human consumption. I see horse meat in my local supermarket here.

I'm sure Joey loves himself some horse burger during WW3.

American's don't eat horse as a rule, and since there are far more cows and pigs around here, Horse will never be an option. And then there is this, burger is made of beef, anything else is a sandwich pattie.

Horsemeat, and North Korea not withstanding...

The extended cut of "Legend" is, actually pretty, good.

Personally, I like the TD score, but NOT in the film! Despite this, it's a fine example of late Schmoelling work (probably his last with TD - or is that "Le Parc"?).

Anyhow...what's all this from Joey about a JW score form "TCP"? Did he really write a score for this film??? As Captain Sulu once said..."Surely not!".

Posted

Why do you use so many abbreviations? I have no idea what you're talking about half the time. What is "TCP"?

EDIT: Oh, The Color Purple. John never wrote anything for it, its a long running joke

You gonna reply to my PM any time soon? :)

I'm here to help! :)

Same here, but you said horses are not fit for human consumption, and that is not true.

they aren't. They are intelligent emotional creatures. something chicken's, cows, turkey's are not. Pig's unfortunately are but they are also bacon, and there you have it. Bacon.

speaking of pigs I need to get Babe on blu.

That is an arbitrary difference made because you are culturally not raised to consider horses as a food product.

Most people have trouble eating animals they assign "human" characteristics too, or that are cute and fluffy in some way.

Also, why do most people gross out by the thought of eating insects, but relish prawns? Biologically there is little difference.

shrimp good, scorpions bad.

What happened to the foodie thread in Off Topic? It seems we got merged with GD after all. Victory!

I would not pass up the opportunity to try Scorpion

say whaaaaat?

we don't need to. we're above that, we don't eat higher animals like whales and dolphins, or lower animals like bugs. or things like offals, especially brains.

You never contribute to that thread. I think we would all love to read about the Great British Cuisine...

I'm not cooker, I'm an eater. And British food is almost entirely boring. Almost.

I don't like prawns much, although I can eat them.

I'd be curious about insects and aracnids because I never had the chance to eat an appropiate one of them correctly prepared.

Oh, just forget the bacon.

I have all these (The Ice Storm, The Devil's Backbone, Lord Of The Flies) on DVD and that's how it's going to stay.

I cracked and bought Lawrence on Blu because Best Buy had it for $10. I also bought the Ben-Hur / Ten Commandments two pack at Walmart. I have some good long movies to carve out time for.

This makes Ben-Hur my most owned movie, as I own the VHS 2-tape collector's edition, the single disc DVD, and now this, plus the Rhino and FSM soundtracks. I might be obsessed.

Posted

Except you don't have the super box set like I do ;)

I splurged and bought Lincoln. If War Horse is still over $30, I doubt greedy Disney will drop that one anytime soon.

Posted

Lincoln will be a birthday present, I need to get Lawrence and the Ten Commandments especially at their new lower prices.

Posted

I don't know if it has been mentioned but the Burton Batman is now available again on blu without the super high price.

I can pass, never clicked with me.

I just chose that as an example. If you click on the link Amazon will show some other titles. Serenity, Scarface, Shaun Of The Dead, etc.

Posted

I can pass on all those titles, Scarface is one of DePalma's worst films.
