Great art normally comes from a lot of hard work and some happy coincidences. But you might actually put a lot of work and fuck it up anyway.

I don't think "great art" and "hard work" are related in any way. There are some artists who work hard on a piece of art, and everyones thinks the end result is shit, while other artists just do something during their coffee break, and everyone calls the end result a masterpiece. Of course, the opposite is also true.

There are way too many factors other than just "hard work" that can turn something into "great art". People try to convince themselves that if they work hard, then suddenly what they do will turn into a masterpiece. That's just not the case.
