  1. I am not sure what's exactly wrong with this movie. I love biblical epics (Easter is coming here in Greece in half a month, it's my favorite period of the year for watching favorite religious films) but I slept in some bits ().
  2. I see this is a rejected score. How it compares to the actual used score by Lurie? Do you know? Better or worse?
  3. I don't understand. This is not by Christopher Young. Or you thought you were in another thread?
  4. Can anyone recommend any good drama scores besides Murder in the First, The Shipping News, Creation and Something the Lord made?
  5. Hmmm.. Haven't ever heard of these. I'll check them out!
  6. I think it's a pity he has been type casted as a horror composer.
  7. This release that you linked with this cover seems to be from the new restoration! I have the old restoration with this cover: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cinema-Paradiso-Blu-ray/170340/ and honestly I think I like the color grading more in that one. If you check every comparison here, the old one is more saturated and colder, than the warmer new restoration: https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d1=15062&d2=15060&s1=157230&s2=157199&i=0&l=0&a=0
  8. If you like drama scores, you should definitely check Murder in the First. I think it's Young's masterpiece!
  9. As I was watching I thought to myself: Wow, Bridges should have been nominated for an Oscar. He plays the alien wonderfully. And after finishing the movie, I saw that he was indeed! Not a great movie (I prefer other Carpenter movies), but a classic.
  10. https://www.discogs.com/release/8681002-John-Williams-Close-Encounters-The-Essential-John-Williams-Film-Music-Collection
  11. OK, you convinced me. I'll watch it and see how it goes.. I'm not terribly familiar with the theatrical cut either, so I won't know what scenes where added, except for the last past I guess...
  12. Well, the short version is the one that won the Oscar for best foreign film and all the prizes. Anyway, here's Ebert's thoughts on the longer version: https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/cinema-paradiso-the-new-version-2002
  13. If you have a 4K capability there's an Arrow UHD too! (with the director's cut on regular blu-ray) https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cinema-Paradiso-4K-Blu-ray/271419/
  14. 2 extended cuts? I only know of one, which is available (I have this release https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cinema-Paradiso-Blu-ray/170340/), but I haven't seen it. I have read that it ruins the movie and the pacing, which of course I love.
  15. I'm a member of a facebook soundtracks group, and we had our own "best of 2023" scores! https://www.itscorez.com/index.php?route=journal3/blog/post&journal_blog_post_id=38 As you see, The Universal Theory for me.
  16. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=22024146&postcount=221 I have seen Robocop 2 twice, but I don't remember the score. Is it that bad?
  17. Wasn't Matrix 4 a flop? They want another now?
  18. Well, the film is almost a yearly tradition here too on Greek TV. Generally biblical films are played around Easter. Even Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor. Of course I don't watch these on TV, I can't stand the ads and the quality, I watch them on my purchased blu-rays!
  19. Does anyone know what instrument is the one that starts at 0.11''? The written score says "ethnic flute", but it sounds too general to me. If you ask me, it sounds like a duduk? I don't know. And is there something similar in a sample library?
  20. WOW! If you love 80s Horner, you'll want to hear this! And it's for a short film!
  21. Well, it's situated in USA. But they ship internationally. Now, it's another story what I'll pay at customs! The Warner Archive releases I think are Region free.
  22. I have never seen THE SWARM. I want to, because I like disaster movies of that era, but I have heard bad things about it from many sources..
  23. I took advantage of MovieZyng's sale regarding Warner Archive blu-rays. Today is the last day of the sale for anyone interested.
  24. I just got my first Neumation book (Krull). I wanted to ask, aren't these sealed like Omni and Chris Siddall's publications?
  25. A facebook friend of mine said that this was Kilar's Dracula 2, a masterpiece, the best score for a TV production ever. I am not sure if it holds up to that title, but it sure was great, with Dracula-like chorus pieces, minimalistic of course as always with Kilar's music. In Kilar mode again. The vocal theme was sublime.
