  1. Ziyi Zhang looking gorgeous is all I saw.
  2. Yes, excellent news. And yes. Nothing strange. Think Godfather.
  3. Oh. Well, I was working on my room and a friend came in to tell me he had won.
  4. These are the ones I have: Bose QuietComfort2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_...ones_index&ck=0 They're excellent, excellent headphones, absolutely invaluable for travelling or listening to music anywhere in a noise/seminoisy environment - any idea how loud the hum of an office or lab is? Put these on and it all goes away. They even have a discount for MIT students.
  5. I went to Barnes and Noble last week and they didn't have them in yet, apparently.
  6. Probably 2002 because it was the peak of my Williams obsession. Not that I'm not obsessed now, I simply had more time back then.
  7. He also seems to have stolen Chris Afonso's avatar. Boo.
  8. The message is one for peace. Violence begets violence, Spielberg is saying with this film.
  9. Meaning what? They didn't find it enjoyable to watch? It's not meant to be entertaining.
  10. Having heard all four of Williams' scores this year, it's fairly clear that Geisha is his only likely nomination. I think the score is beautiful.
  11. He's got a great chance here. Narnia and Kong didn't fulfill their potential. Haven't heard Syriana or Brokeback yet.
  12. I saw the film last night. It's a four star movie, but not as good as Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan. Spielberg's goal of peace is fairly clear throughout and he employs various tricks to show that any killing, whether done by Avner or others, is simply maintaining the energy in the pendulum. Each assassination becomes more and more difficult, both logistically and emotionally, for him. The team watches as each of their jobs is followed by more violence from the other side. To us, this kind of perpetual motion, as Spielberg calls it, is so clear and self-destructive, but the characters barely are able to see that, though some raise the issue as the film progresses. Overall, an outstanding film and the acting ensemble is flawless. I don't think anyone but Spielberg could have made this film. In terms of Williams' score, it's barely noticable, usually as ominous underscore or choral lament but occasionally with one or two themes featuring clarinet. See this film.
  13. Ugh... this can't be good for Spielberg. Sigh. Dreamworks will always hold a special place in my heart. See avatar.
  14. It's looking good. Beast doesn't look as great as Nightcrawler, so that's kind of letdown cause that guy's one of my favorite characters. What's the deal with Iceman and that chick? Rogue must be pissed. Overall seems more action based, I'm excited.
  15. Home Alone I and II are the main ones. I also go for HPSS, Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal.
  16. Am I the only one who thinks that the film looks a little ridiculous? It doesn't make sense that a sixteen year old girl can become a master archer overnight, or that an eighteen year old boy is leading that army. On top of that, all of Weta's designs and the landscapes look just like their work on Lord of the Rings.
  17. X-Men The Animated Series, on FOX in the mid 90's.
  18. Yes, I can confirm the EE music on the release. For example, the passing of the elves scene early in the film, and then the uncut gifts scene from Galadriel.
  19. I have a question about IMAX: I have not had a clear understanding of the displayed aspect ratio for some time now. Is the picture cropped? Or shrunk to fit the 4:3 screen?
  20. Yes, it is a guess, and an incorrect one. Neither I or any fans I know in person or through fan sites feel that way. It's probably harder to judge if you haven't seen the movie. Check out Live Journal or IMDb sometime, you might change your mind. I doubt it, because they don't constitute a majority of Harry Potter fans. Obviously some do feel that way, I make the point that it's not an overwhelming or even substantial portion of fans.
