  1. When will we get the complete soundtracks from the prequel and sequel trilogy?
  2. Once upon a time I really knew how to rip, edit, and do all kinds of amazing stuff and shared that knowledge far and wide. Nowadays I lack the hands-on skills and, more importantly, the time. Can anybody here with the know how for an up-to-date Mac with iTunes give pointers to a grizzled old fan editor on how to rip the audio from the stream? Also, is there a post in this thread or elsewhere on the forum that talks about which cues in this ISOMIX are not on the OST so I can keep the good bits from my trusty CD and fill in the gaps with the 96k stream?
  3. Now that TDK Expanded edition is out, reportedly with the whole score available, has anybody yet figured how to pick the tracks apart into the right cue order? Barring that, a reasonable track order?
  4. You're asking what I was about to ask. Just opened my score yesterday after seeing the film for the first time. I've done a lot of custom re-ordering of the Batman Begins soundtrack and have an excellent narrative for it finally after only three years of fiddling. Now I need to do it all over again for TDK. :-D
  5. Must ... get ... proper ... Indy 4 ... sequencing.
  6. For me it's a tie between the Ark Theme and Short Round's Theme. The latter is absolutely majestic.
  7. I mean ... FLAMES for heaven's sake. FLAMES!!!
  8. Anybody have the correct tracklisting for the new Blade Runner set? Obviously disc 3 isn't in the film, but what about the first two?
  9. If the titles do indeed relate to the moments in the score, I'd place Germania between 1 and 2. IIRC, the "Barbarian Hoarde" was part of the Battle of Carthage re-enactment, so the Carthage track could go on either side of 20. The Rhino fight was an unfinished/abandoned scene, but in theory it would make sense near the "tiger" fight from the film. I can't immediately recall where in the score that fits. I need to pull out my DVD and check it out again. "22. The General Who Became A Slave" has one of my favorite cues in it ... the very middle-eastern cue that you hear upon arriving at Zucchabar. What is your source for "Desert Journey?" Is it a better version of this cue? I think I read the Sndtk 2 version is an alternate.
  10. Begging the question why the weakest of the five scores is put in the correct order and the rest are a typically jumbled mess.
  11. I thought the GOF score was chronological, except for the source tracks from Jarvis Cocker. I ripped the Hogwarts School Song from DVD and added it into the mix.
  12. I recently started listening to my discs again after being in MP3 mode for about four years. The difference, when you go back to it after listening to a dumbed-down version for so long, is astounding. You will pry my CD collection from my cold, dead hands.
  13. I know the basics of how he did all the fights with the models, and for its time it was an amazing effect, but the CG in episode III totally blows it away, IMHO. *sigh* You give them eyes, Lord, yet they still cannot see.
  14. Yea, but that was "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."
  15. I'd rather spend $90 on a ticket to see the Britney Spears InFATuation Tour than another release of the same damn masters and four new stickers.
  16. Nope. I'm talking about Sci-Fi's planned series Tin Man. Think I'm joking? Visit http://www.scifi.com/tinman/ ...
  17. With all this talk of remaking fantasy adaptions, how is everybody feeling about this "Re-imagining" of The Wizard of Oz? Stroke of genius or creative abortion? I'm leaning toward the latter.
  18. I am neither a liar nor a hypocrite. (Logically, that's like telling Bush to pee in the corner of the Oval Office. You'll get an endless loop every time you think about it.) 10 PRINT "LIAR! " 20 PRINT "HYPOCRITE! " 30 GOTO 10 RUN Have I officially proven myself to be a dinosaur?
  19. In comparing the screenplay of OOTP to the novel, I stand by my original statement. OOTP (the novel) is considered by many to be the weakest in the series, and it's not just because it was bloated. In book 5, JK wrote our 15 year old like he was a petulant 12 year old, and ultimately he had no bearing on the climax. In the film, Harry was more of Luke Skywalker than Anakin, seething and brooding instead of shouting and whining the whole time. In the end, it was the pity that he showed that forced Voldemort out of his mind, not tricks and spells cast by Dumbledore. Ultimately, Harry was an infinitely stronger character in this film, showing a depth and maturity that came from Cedric's death, as opposed to a regression. Then there was the way that Cho was just kinda tossed away in the book. By making her the "SNEAK" in the film, even if it was under duress, it did far more to isolate her from Harry and the DA. Ultimately, I found the film to have more emotional impact than the book. Coming out of the film I couldn't wait to see it again. Finishing the book I put it down and said "Thank goodness THAT is over." None of the other books in the series left me as fatigued and indifferent. Oh, and Indy4, I completely agree with your points on PoA and GoF ... those were major failings of their respective movies. Those were important plot points that were never properly sewn up in the films. OOTP had a much tighter script, and I think it was due to the different screenwriter.
  20. OOTP was a FANTASTIC distillation of a bloated novel. I don't just compare it to the other Potter films, but I also compare it to Clancy adaptations and other such films that have had enormous source material to distill. And compared to, say, The Sum of All Fears (the film), OOTP kicks its ass all over the playground. I honestly wish Michael Goldenberg were writing the last two films. His screenplay for OOTP was better than JK's book in most respects. And, as Dumbledore would say, that is saying something.
  21. I may be inviting an asswhooping here, but I find Kamen's score to Band of Brothers actually more moving than Williams' score for Saving Private Ryan. Though technically it's not a "film" score since BoB was a miniseries ... but there should be allowances in cases like this.
