  1. I've not looked too closely but it wouldn't be hard to recreate the OST using the LLL – just needs some basic knowledge of editing software.
  2. This is being restocked again! Based on the other pressings, it won't last long... https://mondoshop.com/blogs/news/hook-restock-vinyl-on-sale-info
  3. Wouldn't it be nice if an expanded version of The Phantom Menace just appeared out of nowhere alongside the theatrical re-release? Won't happen of course, seeing as Disney seem desperate to do nothing with these scores, while preventing anyone else from touching them either. I wonder if Mondo would have more luck triggering expansions than Intrada? Disney seem happy to take their bucketloads of cash in exchange for limited edition vinyl pressings, which seems to be what happened with Rogue One. And Mondo hired Mike to assemble the Hook vinyl, so presumably he'd be hired for expanded SW vinyls... WDR just seem totally uninterested in pursuing this themselves, but Mondo might have more luck?
  4. Well that's wonderful news indeed! Hopefully we can get Legend of Zorro as a companion release for Black Friday this year then Then hopefully the AFM will start granting waivers for 2005 scores anyway, because it's nearly two decades ago for crying out loud!
  5. Yep, and I think the "special edition" of Resurrection was for similar reasons. Not because JPJ had any interest in revisiting the film, but just to make sure all 4 films had multiple cuts. I've never had the patience to watch that alternate cut to see what was added. Presumably nothing of worth.
  6. Will definitely be the theatrical cut. The "director's cut" was seemingly never mastered in 4K; the recent UHD release actually upscaled the director's cut scenes from 1080p to 4K.
  7. Geez I'm glad my order shipped yesterday! Just in time. Still gotta say, I find it a little baffling they licensed 1000 less units of the third score. A stack of people who ordered the previous 2 expansions are going to miss out.
  8. Confusingly, I believe the film and Demaster actually present the cue as it was recorded. The OST tracked music from elsewhere in the cue (or possible another cue, I forget) to replace it.
  9. This probably counts as an alternate mix but there's all kinds of bizarre differences between OST and Demaster version of Augie's Great Municipal Band: OST: Demaster:
  10. Either they screwed up the mix or used the wrong take at 1:03 here, when they demastered AOTC. Compare the horns/percussion: 2002 OST: 2018 Demaster:
  11. It was in the Abbey Road documentary released on Disney+. They had a segment on John Williams and the Star Wars scores. Somewhat miraculously they included footage of the alternate BOTH intro being recorded with the LSO.
  12. Mangold's finally shooting his long-awaited Bob Dylan biopic in NYC. Chalamet seems to be everywhere right now. No composer attached yet, but I'm assuming a rough cut would be ready later this year. What are the chances Mangold would ask Williams to score this?
  13. Makes me wonder how many units Intrada restocked.. clearly wasn't enough!
  14. They should really be capped at 5 medals, yeah.
  15. WIll never happen because even if they started filming today, the film would take 3 years to finish. And for whatever reason Jackson seems completely disinterested in making feature films anymore.
  16. I wonder how many scores from the past 3 decades have been referenced in an Oscars ceremony outside the year in which their film was released? There's never a shortage of references to scores from decades ago but can anyone seriously picture a recent Best Score winner being referenced in an Oscars ceremony moving forward?
  17. The post-production schedule for Jurassic 7 lines up with Williams' availability too. Seems crazy but maybe he'd lend a theme or two for another composer to adapt (Powell?) Of course, he was asked to score Jurassic World and turned it down but his schedule was stacked in 2015 (with BOS and TFA).
  18. looooooool, was he meant to read that and skip the nominations? Seems like everyone was taken by surprise, from the camera guy to the presenter.
  19. Nolan must be in talks to direct Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
  20. Who was the genius at WB who let Nolan walk to Universal?
  21. If JW had won tonight, he would've been the oldest Oscar winner ever.
  22. Yeah, not sure how I felt about that. Merging a song performance (complete with smiles and applause for the singers) with a memorial? The staging and camerawork was super distracting with the constantly shifting stage, and splitting the focus between two singers, dancers and people who've died. The memorial was effectively relegated to wallpaper in the background. Felt tasteless. Maybe one of those "good idea on paper but not execution" things.
  23. So I guess JW just stayed home this year?
