  1. It starts out pretty wild but becomes much more "classic Williams" at the end (similar to JW string counterpoint writing in Hymn to the Fallen or more specifically the end of Somewhere in My Memory)
  2. It's a very purposefully spotted score, where the placement of music can say just as much as the music itself. There are a lot a cues that really "open up" when viewed in context such as New Home. Which is a shame since it seems like a lot of people (here included) just plain didn't watch the movie or watched it once and declared it "Spielberg tripe" or whatever
  3. It's one of Williams' most simple and elegant melodies. Sure it's simple enough that another composer could eventually happen upon something like it while writing in a similar style. That doesn't make it any less of a well-thought out and heartfelt expression from Williams as an artist. Film music discourse too often devolves into reductive "note counting".
  4. I don't really care about some YouTuber giving it a negative review. Kids say stupid shit
  5. "He went off to live with the monkeys" *Echoey monkey screech plays in the sound mix*
  6. I honestly kind of like the sound of it (not unlike the way I like TROS) so it's promising to me
  7. It is those things but I also like some of the character beats and some of the broad strokes storytelling And it has some great JW themes
  8. TLJ (and to a lesser extent TFA) online reaction was a sign of things to come. It's like an industrial complex of feigned outrage that can't be stopped
  9. It reminds me of a classic shitty (but still has entertaining) movie I'd watch in the theaters as a teen, like X Men Origins Wolverine, or Land of Lost
  10. "Ford dons his iconic hat to the strains of John Williams' stupendous refrain"
  11. I'm willing to bet nobody's going to say anything about the score except how it uses "the stirring, iconic titular march". Critics very rarely comment on the actual specifics of scores like this
  12. Twin Peaks The Wire (I was so grossed out by the name Snot Bogey that I quit the show after e1)
  13. I feel like quotes non-withstanding, it fits in pretty well with the "comedic chase cues" from the series like Basket Game and The Motorcycle Chase.
  14. Being able to control the camera while filming rather than planning it all out in storyboard like usual with animation I believe Spielberg has talked about how he likes being able to make spontaneous in-the-moment choices in terms of shot composition
  15. 2D Tintin wouldn't have been nearly as good because Spielberg wouldn't have been able to use the virtual camera system (he gets some crazy shots out of this)
