  1. At least he didn't bite off more than he could Chewie. (Ok, that one was bad).
  2. Yeah, he's already had more screen time in one film than Wedge did in the entire OT.
  3. Another 300 Blue Boxes are being printed. Last chance editions on a couple of other titles as well.
  4. Thanks Karol. I thought I'd read something about Lynch intending to leave the murder unsolved. Good to know the memory's still good. I read that Lynch wanted to explore the dark side of small town life in the show, and the murder's main plot purpose was to bring Cooper to town. The filler and subplots were meant to be the real meat of the show. I loved the show at the time (hard to believe it was twenty years ago) and really should watch it again soon. The soundtrack was one of my first CDs and I read a spin-off book My Life, My Tapes which was meant to be Cooper's autobiography, It ends with him being sent to Twin Peaks and gives a different version of the Teresa Banks case referenced in Fire Walk With Me.
  5. This was a shock. He was one of my favourite authors. I got hooked when I read Fahrenheit 451 in high school. My favourite Bradbury book is Dandelion Wine. So long, Ray. You'll be missed.
  6. It's here! 17 days. Not bad. Just listened to the first disc. Fantastic.

Landa. Ledger gave a great, twisted performance as the Joker, but the character wears his evil on his sleeve. His appearance alone would give anyone the creeps. Landa, at first glance, appears normal until he starts speaking. He has that air of forced civility about him. It's like he's wearing a mask that almost fits, but not quite. You can still glimpse what's underneath. Get rid of the uniform and put him in civvies, and from a distance nobody would guess what he was, which is exactly why Pitt's character marks him at the end.
  8. I enjoyed the intro to the tv show Millennium. It had such a brooding, melancholy feel, due in no small part to Mark Snow's theme.

One summer night, an orchestra performed Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Since it was a very hot night and the players were working up quite a sweat, the ventilators were turned on. The wind from the ventilators caused the score to fly all over the place, so it was tied down to the note holders. The ventilators also made such a racket, that the bassists decided that it didn't matter if they downed a few pints and got drunk as lords. Two of them got so drunk, they passed out. The violinist was so disgusted, he got up to leave but slipped and fell. Thus, it was the bottom of the 9th, the bassists were loaded, the score was tied with two men out and the fans were cheering wildly as a man slid home.
  10. 1941 - John Williams Fat Man and Little Boy - Ennio Morricone
  11. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Drax. I thought that was one of the better Murdoc episodes.
  12. Guns for San Sebastian is classic Ennio Morricone Western music. Wonderful score imo. Some Youtube clips:
  13. Happy birthday Maestro. May you have many more and thank you for all the wonderful music.
  14. I'll have to get around to picking up the DVD set as I haven't seen the show since it first aired. I saw the entire series but when I read the liner notes I was surprised at how many episodes I could remember nothing or almost nothing about.
  15. Space Above And Beyond. A superb presentation of Shirley Walker's music. I'd forgotten just how much variety there was in the music since I could only remember the main theme.
  16. Guy Gibson by Richard Morris. An interesting biography of the Dam Busters' leader. It paints a somewhat different picture to the one that emerges from Gibson's memoir "Enemy Coast Ahead" (which was heavily censored) or Paul Brickhill's "The Dam Busters". This is a warts and all portrait and some interesting information emerges, such as the fact that Gibson had problems with his feet (gout or some kind of arthritic condition) and was in a lot of pain on the day of the Dams raid. I haven't seen this mentioned in previous accounts.
  17. 2D. Apart from the inflated ticket prices that make the box office clerks look like scalpers, I agree with comments about it being hard on the eyes. Mine start watering pretty quickly. Like Wojo, I wear glasses and fitting the 3D glasses over them can be a nuisance, especially when both pairs start sliding down your nose afterwards. Makes me thankful that they weren't around during high school. Four-eyes jokes are ok but six-eyes? I just personally find 3D more gimmicky than anything else.
  18. Masada. I don't use the term holy grail too often but this was top of my wish list. It's great to finally have the complete score with both the Goldsmith and Stevens material. I really enjoy the Roman march, especially in "Move On".
  19. Krull. I like Willow's main theme but I don't find the album as enjoyable as Krull which holds my attention all the way through.
