  1. Yeah, that dude. Tell me his theme isn't awesome! I found Marion's theme from that concert. Still looking for Irina's Edit: n/m, thanks Faleel
  2. I'm sure it is! Sadly it doesn't do me much good :[ I second the motion to get a recording one day. The OST edit is very satisfying though. The theme for Irina's minion dude (can't think of his name... the filth of KotCS is washing away!) is a highlight of the score for me.
  3. I really like Irina's Theme too. Having the sessions now, I'm not sure how I feel about the "concert" version on the CD being scattered around the various cues that it was originally edited from. The album edit had been one of my favorite tracks. I'm wondering if I should reinstate it in my edit somehow...
  4. That explains it, then. Thank you for the spreadsheet! And thanks to Ro Sajooc for his, as well.
  5. Anybody hear the sessions? ? ? I feel like I'm posting in an alternate universe where Minority Report leaked and no one cared!
  6. Great discussion of the score and new releases! I just listened to both discs this weekend... I was only going to listen to disc 1, but I had to keep going Very engaging score!
  7. These polls are the best resource I've seen for all these alternates.
  8. Sure thing! For one thing, I haven't seen any indication whether Joseph Williams contributed to the score, but listening to the source cue, it seems like the type of thing he could have been involved in. I still need to compare to the OST, but after my first listen, I think the first few cues contain my favorite previously unreleased moments. There's a small ascending motif in there that I liked, which I don't remember from the OST. I'm going to have to think about the sequencing here. The last three tracks are all too similar to leave in the order they're in; I might move the End Credits piece to the beginning, like the album. It makes a nice overture to the score.
  9. I haven't seen any discussion here of the expanded Minority Report that leaked. I tried searching and didn't find anything, so I thought I'd mention it for anyone who didn't know.
  10. Yes, in spite of what Williams may or may not have had in mind, I like to interpret it this way too The phoenix is a good metaphor for Dumbledore, as well as operating as an extension of him or a personification of his spirit.
  11. In Chamber of Secrets the usage of new themes was very straightforward. Essentially, each new character / entity gets a theme that plays when they are onscreen (the only exception being the Chamber theme). Very cut and dried. Because of this, I would guess that Williams wrote Fawkes' theme solely with Fawkes in mind, and there's evidence of this in that we only ever here the theme when Fawkes is literally onscreen. I also would have liked to hear it used occasionally for Dumbledore, though, and I agree it would have been a great way to develop the theme. I know we all would have liked to hear it when Fawkes flies away at the end of Half-Blood Prince.
  12. Every year it's a bit jarring when the music starts, no matter what music they pick. Even the winners tend to reference it in their speeches... it's something that's understood and joked about within the ceremony itself at this point. So picking Jaws was pretty funny and appropriate.
  13. Shout out to William Ross, he got to conduct Harry Potter again! The broadcast was pretty entertaining this year, in spite of some of the awards I didn't agree with. This year I saw all the Best Picture nominees except Zero Dark Thirty, and I liked all of them better than Argo. Nice to see Brave winning, Jennifer Lawrence, Adele, etc. Would have liked more recognition for The Master. I still can't believe it wasn't nominated more, but at least the actors got nods. Good to see Ralph McQuarrie in the obits. I'm a big fan of Hal David too so it was nice he got acknowledged.
  14. Agreed. I also noticed Wikipedia has fairly extensive articles on the Star Wars scores. I wonder if we might want to import those as a starting point?
  15. Nice, Kendal! So, how does everyone rate this score? I don't own any version of it yet. So I can't say I'm excited, not having heard any of it or seen the film, but I feel obligated to buy it anyway...
  16. Well, there are some still missing, sure, but JW fans have been treated to many many great expanded (or complete) releases over the past few years, so I don't think we can complain. Jaws, E.T. Star Wars trilogy, Superman, Home Alone 1 and 2, CE3K, etc. But eventually, I am pretty sure we'll get 'em all! It's only a matter of time. I'm sure we will. And the wait does make each expanded release all the more exciting. It's good to have time to digest each one. I will say it's a little harder to appreciate some scores when the first version you hear is the expanded version. This is true for me with 1941 and the Home Alones.
  17. I'm very thankful for the ToD and LC releases we got, but they're some of my favorite scores, so I'd still rather get an even more complete release and fill in the remaining gaps in those scores. What a crazy world we live in where some of the biggest franchises JW has scored look like the last ones that'll get a complete official release!
  18. 1. HP:POA 2. AotC 3. RotS 4. Temple of Doom 5. Jurassic Park I eventually fell behind trying to edit the Star Wars prequels together from the video game files. I do have a good Phantom Menace edit, but my AotC and RotS edits are lacking, so official releases would be nice. I'm happy with what we have for HP 1 and 2 for now, though it'd be good to have professional masters and the few remaining missing tracks. I'd also like Last Crusade and RotJ redone.
  19. Yes, it seems hard to believe that we could meet him in any "official" capacity. We really have no more claim to such a thing than anyone else does, unfortunately. Williams may not even be familiar with what an online forum IS. We're simply very devoted fans (though that doesn't count for nothing to Williams, who is always gracious to fans and has been willing to accomodate us within reason). Unless someone here knows somebody, the only possibilities I could see are attempting to write a heartfelt letter to Williams, signed by all of us, or to simply show up and see what kind of luck we have. Neither one is exactly promising, but again any approach that maintains a healthy respect for Williams' own wishes regarding his time and his privacy is worth trying.
  20. If Williams himself knew of our interest I could see how he might be willing to set aside a few minutes for such a thing. Unfortunately, it's hard to imagine anyone affiliated with the symphony or the venue would go so far as to ask him on our behalf - except perhaps to mention it to him on the night of the show in some unofficial capacity. I would be very excited if we did manage to work something out, and I agree it's definitely worth a try. And for those of us who aren't fortunate to have Williams visit our city often, it's indeed difficult to get too many chances at a thing like this. This will be my fourth Williams show, and I had no luck on my own with the other three. Other fans I've spoken with at the Film Nights have told me they've tried waiting to meet him after the show for at least seven years, without success. So some kind of group effort might be the only way.
  21. I'm currently working on that. But your basic intend was right: Just copy the template from Wikipedia and you're set. However, in this occasion a bit more work obviously needs to be done. I've successfully integrated the template. You can see a use case here: http://en.scorepedia.org/wiki/Super_8#Soundtrack_Releases_and_Cue_Lists Thank you, Marcus! I'm looking forward to giving this a try later.
  22. Here's their track listing template: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Track_listing I was able to create a template on Scorepedia, but simply copying the code from Wikipedia didn't seem to work.
  23. Do we have the ability to copy the track list template from Wikipedia? As I'm working on my first page I realized it would be extremely useful.
