  1. Well the Shazam! movie from DC is scheduled for 2019. Shazam was originally known as Captain Marvel, with a history going back decades (under Fawcett Comics) before Marvel invented their version. DC acquired the original Captain Marvel but had missed out on trademarks when Marvel had got in and registered their version of the character. DC finally gave up the goose in 2011 and renamed their Captain Marvel as Shazam. Captain Marvel should have been a DC movie.
  2. Bear's acting career will be taking off soon as well!

What a great moment in the show from a few week's back.
  4. Are you an Irish speaker? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hobad-Anonn-agus-Hobbit-Irish/dp/1904808905
  5. This is fantastic. Works great in the documentary as well (narrated by Liam Neeson). Always loved the Hannibal piece by this guy. He should do more scores!
  6. That's good to hear! I probably won't get round to seeing this in the cinema, though it's good to see that it is getting some decent reviews. Bear's own label Sparks & Shadows will be releasing this on CD in the near future. I would guess within a few weeks with some signed copies available through La La Land records, regular copies from amazon.com.
  7. On first listen it stands out as clearly the best film score he's done so far (not too much competition to beat!). All of the McCreary trademarks are here yet this certainly feels new for him. I've read that Hermann and Goldsmith are influences, though I myself am not well-versed enough to point to specifics. It is also not really similar at all to Giacchino's great piece from Cloverfield. Like I suspected, I think JJ has had a good influence here. Working on better projects and with better people can only help McCreary to develop as a film composer. Onwards and upwards!
  8. Nice interview! Jerry is the order of the day. Anyone seen Damien yet?
  9. Bear hitting the big leagues! I like the samples for this. I hoped at the start of the year that some better quality films would start coming his way. Maybe this is the start of the great McCreary motion picture breakthrough...
  10. 1. Braveheart 2. Titanic 3. Legends of the Fall 4. The Perfect Storm 5. Apollo 13 6. Avatar 7. Bicentennial Man 8. A Beautiful Mind 9. Willow 10. Field of Dreams

It's a bit strange that they never posted the full video for this. Last season's composer roundtable came out in December 2014. All the other disciplines for this season had their videos posted many weeks ago now. The last in fact to be released was the cinematographer one that came out on February 2nd. It's a bit of a shame if this one has vanished into the ether because the previous ones were enjoyable to watch.
  12. Doesn't bother me too much either way who Rey is/is not blood related too. There has to be some strong connection/history to Luke for TFA to make sense to me though.
  13. This is exciting! I saw Bear tweet the director last year, so I suspected this movie was on the horizon. It was called "The Cellar" originally when I checked for what they could be working on. Bear appears to be taking a big leap into the motion picture world now. 2016 has seen "The Forest" already and "The Boy" is coming out tomorrow. Hopefully the standard and variety of projects will continue to improve.
  14. Glancing through the comments, there is a bit of love for her being both Obi-Wan's granddaughter and Luke's daughter, Luke having hooked up with Obi-Wan's theoretical daughter.
  15. They make a good argument for it. It also enhances the possibility/importance of a McGregor-starring spin off movie that he seemed open to.
  16. Loved Robin Hood: Prince of thieves, his performance and Kamen's score are both fantastic. Likewise for Die Hard. His Snape was a treat. I actually just got around to purchasing Kamen's wonderful score for the Rickman directed 'The Winter Guest' (they were great friends). They also collaborated on the song for the film with Rickman writing the lyrics. Such a sad loss. RIP.
  17. Neat. This is his third project involving Goyer, following 'Da Vinci's Demons' and 'Constantine'. He also has 'The Boy' starring Lauren Cohan coming out in 2 weeks. It would be nice if he could get a shot at some non-horror/thriller film scores.
  18. Luke to be the daddy is what I got from the film, so that's what makes sense to me right now. I could understand her having other parents as long as Luke is intimately involved with her early upbringing/the death of her real parents or something along those lines.
  19. Sounds cool. Only the main title is out at the moment, full EP out digitally on the 15th. https://play.spotify.com/album/785HHYPkiBCXFxffIkqc35 http://www.bearmccreary.com/#blog/blog/video-games/assassins-creed-syndicate-jack-the-ripper/
  20. https://play.spotify.com/album/6vdk1MzBclMUV99U5gR5pj Damn fine score to remind us of what we've lost.
  21. I hope you like them. They're in the running for the best thing he's done, in my opinion of course.
