  1. Nice list. Will Episode VII be considered a Disney score or would that still be Lucasfilm?
  2. There are other bits an pieces on the UE that are different in the film. I put together a real isolated score many years ago and many tracks didn't match up to the film versions. Some parts were extended in the films, slowed down, etc. The edits in the UE are actually a little bit cleaner than the edits heard in the film. Fortunately, sound effects masked some of the more obvious and odd edits. "The Tide Turns" is actually shortened and altered slightly in the film, but seems to be entirely intact on the UE.
  3. This. Yes there's still quite a bit of missing music from The Phantom Menace. The whole "Ultimate Edition" while it was nice to have the previously unreleased music in awesome remastered sound the presentation practically sucked. Plus it had the misleading line: "Every note recorded". Ya right... Yeah, it didn't even include every note actually used in the film.
  4. I voted for ROTJ:SE simply for it's poor sound quality and missing music. At least with TPM:UE, the sound quality is excellent and we got some amazing cues that may not have been released otherwise such as "Anakin is Free" and "The Tide Turns." It's still a mess of an album, but at least it gave fan editors more material to work with in creating a proper complete score.
  5. Interesting... I didn't know that. Glad that wasn't a priority at the time.
  6. My guess is that it would have been a little more syrupy than what Shore did, particularly during the tender family moments. That's not a complaint, though... I love Williams syrupy music. Maybe more along the the lines of Home Alone, Stepmom, Harry Potter and possibly Hook?
  7. If Williams hadn't been busy in 1993 with Jurassic Park, Schindler's List and possibly some other projects, do you think he would have scored Mrs. Doubtfire for Chris Columbus? They did the first two Home Alone films and then collaborated again on Stepmom and then the first two Harry Potter films, so they developed a pretty good working relationship in a 12 year period. Was Howard Shore always the first choice to score the film?
  8. I've read 6-8 weeks and I've read up to 6 months. Disney/Lucasfilm hasn't made a statement, so it's speculation and nobody really knows for sure at this point. I doubt it will affect the release date, though.
  9. Since Harrison's injury will reportedly take him away from production for up to 6 months, I wonder if Episode VII will be pushed back to May 2016? If so, would The BFG conflict with Episode VII?
  10. Thanks.. look forward to both of these announcements and the scores, of course. :-)
  11. Since Spielberg was announced to direct these two projects, when do you think Williams will be announced as composer of these films?
  12. Williams may also have more of an attachment to Star Wars than the Harry Potter series and, therefore, more willing to make room for Star Wars. Was a scheduling conflict also the reason why he didn't fully commit to The Chamber of Secrets?
  13. Possibly, but people thought Giacchino would score Episode VII when Abrams was announced to direct. I have no doubt Williams would have first dibs especially since he has expressed interest. They know how important Williams is to the franchise.
  14. I think you're right. Since Episode VIII won't come out until 2017, he probably hasn't officially signed on to score even though he has expressed interest in scoring all three. The fact that Kennedy says he's committed to all three films makes a difference as well.
  15. No, but Kathleen Kennedy said he was involved in all three films. Here is her full quote (video
  16. I thought was he expected to score the trilogy based on the articles Ricard posted. Would be nice to get some clarification of this contradiction.
  17. Thanks for posting the articles, Ricard. That tweet is contradicting what was reported last year. Did something change along the way? Is there anyway we can get clarification, besides from a tweet?
  18. Yes, they did, but I don't think they were as good and memorable as Williams' themes. Although, I thought Doyle created an excellent score, especially since it followed the Azkaban score, which I don't think even Williams could have topped.
  19. This doesn't really sound like Williams to me, either. And I'm not surprised they only used his themes Some parts of the ride required his themes, such as the flying car sequence. Looks like a fun ride, regardless.
  20. He was last active a minute before the countdown ended.
  21. Gotcha! Well, I'm all out of ideas.
  22. He said the news would be on Friday. Technically, it isn't Friday everywhere in the world. I'm still in the past. :-)
  23. I just noticed the countdown is at 0:00... is it Friday somewhere?
  24. Thanks and I just found this... http://www.jwfan.com/?p=3417. Can't believe I've never seen this analysis after all these years. It says this about the montage:
