  1. Wow! I'm looking forward to this concert even more now! Thanks for passing along the info!
  2. POST EDITED: Requests, offers or trades of the soundtrack are NOT allowed. Posts will be deleted, and the user may be banned from the forum. http://jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15339 Overall, a very great score. Not JW's best by any means, but more fun than a lot of his have been lately. The returning themes appearing throughout brought a huge smile to my face when I heard them. Some of the new stuff is lots of fun, the Crystal Skull theme is a bit flat but serves its purpose, Irina's theme is well done and fun when sped up for the action cues (Jungle Chase). Love the end of the Finale, very interesting arrangement. So wonderful to hear Marion's theme back after all these years. (There was one track, I'll have to listen again to figure out which one, where the horns sounded just a bit (but noticeably) sharp, which was unfortunate because that particular moment they were carrying the melody. It didn't sound horrible off pitch, just enough to be a bit irritating to this brass player.) My conclusion: very enjoyable!
  3. Don't mention the war! I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it...
  4. I'm getting nothing. Zero seeds. Is it down again? Follow the link... Damn. I was hoping the link was a separate joke and the torrent was back for real. Curse you, TheGreatEye! At least I didn't click the link.

  6. It's kind of amazing that such a highly-anticipated score has not escaped onto the interwebs by this point, less than a week away from release. I have a feeling it'll show up somewhere by the weekend, but still, it's been locked up pretty good. Perhaps that's why they went with a smaller label like Concord? Did they think there'd be less chance of leaks than with a big label like, say, Sony?
  7. Maybe the credits are scrolled very, very quickly. Unless there's some union rule about how fast a credit roll is allowed to scroll. Somehow that wouldn't surprise me. It's almost hard to believe, after all these years, in two weeks I will own the brand new Indiana Jones soundtrack by John Williams! Hooray!
  8. If I'm following this correctly, and one of the films is "Fatal Instinct," according to IMDb the composer is Richard Gibbs... who doesn't seem to have ever won an Oscar for anything.
  9. I've wondered that myself since we first saw the French article. Where did they get their review copy? How, why? And how are they the only ones with the goods? It's seemed a little fishy to me since day one.
  10. Saw all 3 in the theater during their initial release. Raiders I don't think I saw opening day (I was 8, so maybe I did but I just don't recall), but I know for a fact I saw both Temple of Doom and Last Crusade opening days. Our theaters didn't have midnight showings of those. But I certainly will be seeing KOTCS at its midnight showing!
  11. I've always loved this score. (The Platters is the only song I tend to listen to besides the score.) Beautiful, lyrical melodies, sounds, harmonies. In general a very peaceful soundtrack. I know it's not his greatest, most impressive score, but I just love it to pieces.
  12. Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, "Princeton, 1916" section. Til my dang iPod locked up after I updated/recharged it. It froze at "OK to disconnect", then I tried resetting it via the Menu/Select method, now all it does is boot up, show the Apple logo for 10 seconds, click then blanks out, then back comes the Apple logo, repeat... :-(
  13. Hmmmm... On the one hand, "akakor" gets way more hits in Google (with skulls and everything!) than "akator"... which leads me to believe Amazon has it as a misprint and it should be Journey to Akakor. On the other hand, a lot of the Google hits for "akator" are for the Indiana Jones "Lost Temple of Akator" playset from Hasbro. So now what are we supposed to believe? More from the "SPOILERS" message board at TheRaider.net: Beware, spoilers ahead... you've been warned... http://raven.theraider.net/showthread.php?t=12127
  14. 8. The Journey to Akator Couldn't really find anything on Akator, either. 11. Orellana's Cradle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_de_Orellana http://www.casadeorellana.com/en/index.htm :"Trujillo, "Cradle of Conquistadors". Birthplace of the conqueror of Peru, Francisco Pizarro, and of Francisco de Orellana, discoverer of the Amazon River."
  15. Well, duh. If you're not gonna give us some proof of your evidence, never mind. you should avoid deep subjects like that, and there is no evidence. and come on Josh since when do most tracks end in zero? Almost never. OK, has *anyone else* found this guy's track timings info on any of those "unmentionable" websites to back this up? And seriously, what's with the insult? I asked for backup to your information so we could judge whether or not to believe it, and you refused to give it. What "deep subject" am I dealing with here? Sheesh! Anyways... not too sure about that "must end in zero" statement, either. What's that all about?
  16. Eh... Let's give him some credit. He used pretty much all of the Star Wars themes in Revenge of the Sith (even Dies Irae, heh). Exactly. I'm sure that even if he doesn't have them committed to memory, I'm sure they're in the archives somewhere.
  17. Yeah, starting off with the march and then beginning the score provides a really odd listening experience, and doesn't make any thematic sense. Silly old Williams. I suppose there's no harm in dreaming, though I doubt Williams has any recollection of half those themes. Well, I'd think a medley of the Raiders March, Marion's Theme, Short Round's Theme, Willie's Theme, Henry Sr.'s Theme, and stuff from KOTCS would probably be all we could expect, I don't know if he'd put in the more action-y oriented stuff but the character themes I think is what he'd focus on. However... I'm getting the feeling now that we'll only get a finale based on KOTCS themes (including Marion's, which has gotta be in this film). No proof, mind you, just a gut feeling. But what do I know, I'm not JW!
  18. Well, duh. If you're not gonna give us some proof of your evidence, never mind.
  19. Yep, according to an old magazine interview with him back at the time of LC's release (what was that magazine Chris Connelly worked for back in the late 80's, kind of large format, cheap paper... issue had Spielberg and Ford on the cover...). He said he regretted not having put in all the themes from the other films too. Kinda hoping he did it this time, that would be a wonderful overture. Why be coy about it? Just post a link.
  20. Or perhaps it's a line of dialogue. Someone calling back a person/creature/device with a voice command, for example...? Very exciting news! First the cover, then the track titles. This means it's done and complete and it exists somewhere. Yay!
  21. One of my all-time favorite Python episodes! It's the Waltz from Charles Gounod's opera "Faust" (thank you, Google!). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faust_(opera) Also see these YouTube links...
  22. Joe works at B&N, so he has access to things there that the public doesn't. I used to work at B&N some years ago. I can recall our catalog/look-up system being inaccurate at times in regards to information on an album prior to release (and indeed sometimes after release). For instance, for several months prior to the CD release, our system was showing "Grow Old With Me" by John Lennon as one of the tracks (in fact the only track title listed) on The Beatles Anthology 3. That turned out to be wrong. (Hmmm... always wondered why that was ever listed. A little Google search solves a mystery I've pondered for over 10 years... In 1994, Yoko gave Paul McCartney some cassettes containing four of John Lennon's unfinished songs. One of these was the demo recording of "Grow Old With Me". The three remaining Beatles (Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr) did attempt to work on the song in a similar way that they had with the Beatles "reunion" songs, "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love", although they were forced to abandon the project, because Lennon's original demo required too much work to bring it up to the standard needed for an official release.) So let's wait and see, folks. This info could be right, could be wrong. Just because B&N says something (and I'm not accusing or blaming you or anything like that, Joe, in fact you have my sympathies for working for B&N (long story, don't get me started...)) isn't a guarantee. I for one am excited by the fact that we're just over a month away from a brand-new CD of brand-new John Williams music for a brand-new Indiana Jones movie... something that seemed at one point like it would never happen.... Hooray!
  23. I can't speak to personal experience of being conducted by him myself, but being a trumpet player for over 25 years and having seen JW conducting in Chicago last November, I thought his conducting style (in terms of relating tempo, cues, phrasing, etc.) was very clear and straightforward (with dashes of fun thrown in where appropriate). I have a feeling that if I were ever to be in a group being conducted by The Man Himself, I would have no problem following along (once I got over the sheer joy and hysteria that would distract me for the first few moments). He also seems very communicative with the members during the performance, both in terms of readying before the start of a piece and also during the performance. And even though he's in his 70s, he seemed very lively during the entire afternoon. I've seen conductors (and been conducted by conductors) who bring little joy or communication to the process and just wave their batons in time to the tempo. In terms of relating to another (classical) composer's compositions and bringing the passion and musical history to the piece... I guess I'm not quite that musically literate, sorry.
