  1. I don't have it in front of me, but I have to say what I remember hearing last is The Map Room: Dawn from Raiders. Blasting that thru my car speakers. :-) Looking forward to adding KOTCS to my "Indiana Jones Music" playlist!
  2. I've found that if I have an annoying song stuck in my head, a quick and easy solution is to start playing the Back to the Future main theme in my head. Seems to knock anything else off the brain. Not sure why, but it does the trick every time.
  3. Are we actually saying that the fake CD cover doesn't look like Harrison Ford simply because it's a reversed image? I figured it was fake when I saw that it was a reverse of the poster, but I never thought it didn't look like Harrison Ford. Odd that now the image is NOT reversed on any of the posts with the "fake" CD cover... (I went back to re-look at the fake to see if I could spot any defects or image-warping and see if that might have been the cause for the claims of non-Ford-resemblance, but I can't anymore, apparently...)
  4. Great interview! Looking forward to more, especially on the sequel scores as I'm not nearly as familiar with those as I am with the original film.
  5. Partially through Disc 1, haven't had much listening opportunity. Fantastic! And to think I once thought the Rhino release sounded great. The book I'm enjoying very much too, again not much reading time so slow going there too. What a labor of love, the effort and the time people put into this release is greatly appreciated. Just wonderful. I have it ripped into iTunes now, think I wanna play around with the organization a bit, putting the source music with their respective films and so forth. Plus I don't know what album covers to put with each of them... I don't think I want to just do a Blue Box general cover for the whole thing. Man, why am I so nitpicky about stuff like that?
  6. The way they use the word "song" in terms of the Star Wars theme song leads me to believe, along with more info on page 2 of the article, it'll just be incorporated into the orchestral scoring of the film, not a song-with-vocals type of "song". It sure does make me think of the theremin, and how that became synonymous with 50's sci-fi B-movies... which is what I think I read they were trying to shoot for with the latest Indy film (as opposed to the 30's Saturday morning serial feel for the original trilogy).
  7. Yay! Mine arrived at work yesterday, but I was out sick so I didn't get to rip open the box til this morning. It looks great! Can't wait to get it home and indulge myself in the goodness. And rip it to iTunes, etc. Might take some time at lunch to read some of the book. Yay!
  8. Got an email, mine shipped today (Saturday). Hope to see it early next week. I did PayPal and it was charged right away, basically.
  9. Didn't I read somewhere SAE expected to get them from the manufacturers on Feb 29? Tried searching again for where I read it but can't find it now. Dang. But I'm pretty sure that's when they were getting them, so probably they'll start shipping them ASAP after that.
  10. Finally got order confirmation, after a panicky couple of hours where my payment was accepted but I was showing no orders under my account (at Screen Archives). Now the order is there and confirmed. Yay!
  11. Draggin this thread back towards the topic... My favorite snack of choice, I'd have to say a nice cheese and sausage and crackers plate. More specifically, beef summer sausage, colby and/or swiss cheese (or specialty mild brick cheese from Widmer's, yum yum!), and some type of saltine-like cracker. Nice glass of water to wash it down. Ah, yes, very nice.
  12. The last time they released a Star Trek film during the summer months was Star Trek V: The Final Frontier... and I think we all know how well that turned out. I hope this is different. Personally I think it would be safer box-office-wise if they stuck to a winter release. But then again... Star Trek Nemesis fared about as well as ST5... Hmmm.... Oh well, whatever they want to do, they'll do. It'll do decent box office but I doubt it'll be the big hit of the summer.
  13. I thought the trailer was great! Did what it was supposed to, show a bit of what's coming but not too much. The use of non-JW music was a bit of a negative... could they not have used some less-recognized (at least by the general public) but similar-in-tone music from an earlier Indy film? Oh well. Still, haven't been this excited to see a trailer in a long time. Is it May yet?? And when does the soundtrack come out?? Cheers! --Kevin
  14. Wow. Saw this when I got up this morning, sad, sad news. He was one of those actors that popped up in various films over the years and always, always turned in a great performance. My favorites of his career include... Jaws Jaws 2 Blue Thunder 2010 The Russia House SeaQuest DSV RIP, Mr. Scheider. --Kevin
  15. (Bit late, but...) I agree that Raiders is the more rock-solid film of the original 3. But Last Crusade is still a fun movie, even with the lazy/sloppy stuff (can we say "magic bag strap", anyone?). One thing I'm kinda hoping for... In a magazine interview back around the time of Last Crusade's release, John Williams was discussing the LC score. He spoke of how he somewhat regretted that he didn't compose the end credits using all the character themes from all three movies, Marion's Theme, Short Round's Theme, etc., as one big finale to the series. Perhaps he'll pick up on that idea for this (possibly) final film? Might be a rather nice and nostalgic end to the whole thing. Cheers! --Kevin
  16. Absolutely my favorite as well! What a rousing rendition, man, that one gets me every time. Cheers! --Kevin
  17. There's a danger of spoilerage there, too, isn't there? If, for example, in the midst of a track, a musical theme from a previous film suddenly appears...? Not saying I know anything particular myself, just thinking out loud, as it were. I cannot wait for this score! Cheers! --Kevin
  18. Howdy everyone... I've got a 2-disc set of the 1941 score which, thanks to someone breaking into my car a few years ago, I no longer have the track listings for. It's a set I burned myself several years ago, I forget the original source, and it doesn't seem to match up to any track listings I can find online. I didn't seem to mind it as much when it was just in CD format, but now as I've ripped it into iTunes for my iPod listening pleasure, I can't stand the generic "Track 01" junk that I'm stuck with. Is anyone willing and/or able to help me out and match up track lengths to track titles? I'm assuming it's in some sort of logical order but I can't guarantee it. CD 1 Track 01 1:30 Track 02 7:01 Track 03 1:28 Track 04 2:28 Track 05 1:11 Track 06 0:43 Track 07 0:36 Track 08 0:59 Track 09 2:58 Track 10 5:11 Track 11 2:22 Track 12 2:21 Track 13 11:57 Track 14 2:40 Track 15 0:38 Track 16 4:05 Track 17 1:18 CD 2 Track 01 4:13 Track 02 3:39 Track 03 1:21 Track 04 1:41 Track 05 1:15 Track 06 3:08 Track 07 2:44 Track 08 1:44 Track 09 1:55 Track 10 6:03 Track 11 2:44 Track 12 0:28 Track 13 1:15 Track 14 1:08 Track 15 3:24 Track 16 0:41 Track 17 5:47 Thanks in advance for any help! Cheers! --Kevin
  19. LOL! Yeah, I noticed that too, didn't count 'em but 3 sounds about right, maybe 4. Last time I noticed he used his left hand to steady the wobbly stand, I think the other times he just ignored it like the pro that he is. Cheers! --Kevin
  20. I'm pretty sure that on Sunday's Chicago concert, Williams did not use sheet music while conducting his second encore ("The Imperial March"...sorry if that's a spoiler for anyone). I could be wrong, but I didn't notice him grab the folder from the lower stand like he did for just about every other piece, including the other encores. I would imagine, having conducted the same arrangement of the piece for 27 years now, he's probably rather familiar with it. Cheers! --Kevin
  21. 1. Yoda's Theme from The Empire Strikes Back Really, truly brings me back to my childhood. Empire came out at exactly the right time for me, I was 7 and totally into the toys, and completely into the soundtracks. Still have the 2-disc LP version of Empire with the booklet pages inside, absolute heaven for me. Nostalgically, I can recall, in 1990, coming back from my last summer marching band gig on the bus, I had graduated from high school and this was the last time I'd probably be with a lot of those kids. I had my headphones on, and Yoda's Theme started up. I got so nostalgic, I can't tell you. Wow. 2. Star Wars Main Theme 3. Superman March I can still remember staying up late special to watch Superman on the ABC Sunday Night Movie. 4. Anything from Raiders of the Lost Ark I love this movie to death (Desert Chase especially, though). 5. The Doctor Who Theme The original 60s/70s version, particularly the Tom Baker era version. Love the show, then and now. Takes me back to Sunday afternoons watching the compilation episodes, usually an hour and a half for the 4-parters. And reading the Target novelizations. Classic stuff. What a great thread, thanks for the fun trip! Cheers! --Kevin
  22. Wooh-hoo! Got my tickets! Box seats, baby, yeah! I'll try to behave. Cheers! --Kevin
